Christie Maloyed | 3 comments I finished The Uncommon Reader by Alan Bennett. It's a short novella about how the Queen takes up reading very late in life. I found it delightful.

I read this book as part of my college assignment The Name of the Rose but I am surprised to see it in the list of '100 Must-Read Books about Books' on Bookriot.

Karen I think I'm going to use Magpie Murders for this one.

Loved it!!

Elyse (winesaboutbooks) I changed mine to The Little Paris Bookshop, just finished it, and enjoyed it!

Wellington (stenella) | 104 comments I read The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde. This was a fun book to read. You can take it at face value or you can get more nuanced and still enjoy it.

message 158: by Lissa Mascio (new)

Lissa Mascio | 19 comments I read The Great Passage by Shion Miura. It was a little slow but quite good, about dictionary authors.

message 159: by Lindsey (new)

Lindsey (labuski) | 1 comments I'm way behind on this challenge, but thought I would say that I'm reading The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield for this task. I hope it's as great as it seems to be based on this thread. :)

message 160: by Susan (new)

Susan (booksrockcal) | 10 comments I read The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend by Katarina Bivald. I read this before Pamela Paul's book My Life with Bob came out--would have enjoyed that one. Also Bob Gottlieb's Avid Reader. So many to choose from in this category!

message 161: by Veronica (new)

Veronica | 75 comments I read The Shadow of the Wind because I had heard good things about it and really wanted to get into another Spanish language author. The story was okay and I'm glad I finally read it, but I found it way too long, with too many digressions, and I had a problem with the fact that the female characters existed only to serve as plot devices for the men. It's the only book where I looked up the ending online because I just wanted to get on with it. Full review here (scroll down for the English version).

Bonnie G. (narshkite) | 1413 comments I think I am going to go with Ex Libris: Confessions of a Common Reader. It sounds perfect for me.

message 163: by LYNDSEY (new)

LYNDSEY S. (lyndzstone) | 18 comments I am currently reading Magpie Murders.... It will count in this category yes?!

message 164: by Rachel (new)

Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 131 comments I just finished reading Weird Things Customers Say in Bookshops, which was a lot of fun!

Bonnie G. (narshkite) | 1413 comments I was making my way through The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society (which I will finish anyway) when I realized I could have used Northanger Abbey which I read last month. It truly fits the prompt if anyone is still looking.

tif flynn (itsmetif) | 29 comments I'm reading Word by Word (Kory Stamper) and despite the rather dry subject matter I have laughed out loud on public transport several times while reading it! Quite enjoyable

message 167: by Emily (new)

Emily | 38 comments I just finished reading The Book Thief by Markus Zusak for this task and it was amazing! It's been on my TBR list for quite some, and this prompted me to finally make time for it.

message 168: by Yrinsyde (new)

Yrinsyde | 21 comments I finished reading Banned Books in Australia yesterday and wow - what an eye opener!! Who knew that Australia was and in some respects, still is more repressive than the US!!

message 169: by Nikki (new)

Nikki (ninmin30) | 4 comments So I was just about to post my finished list, and was looking at everyone elses and I realized I completely forgot about this task! I guess I didn't write it down on my original list at the beginning of the year! I think I'm going to read either The Book Thief or The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. Ahh! I was so proud of myself because I thought I was done too!

message 170: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (rebecca77) I read the Bookman's Tale for this and was really disappointed with it. There were some interesting bits about theories of Shakespearean folios, but the romance felt very juvenile.
