Although several are on my TBR list, I'm in the final pages of
American Heiress: The Wild Saga of the Kidnapping, Crimes and Trial of Patty Hearst. I had started it on audio but ht loan period ended before I did, so now I have a hard copy I finishing. I've read Toobin before and like his writing style, the way he tells a story.
Surprisingly (since I am usually behind the curve), I've read two from this issue, both addressing the experience of being Black/African-American in different time periods in US history:The Underground Railroad and Another Brooklyn
I liked Underground Railroad, but I'm not sure it lives up to the hype. In fact, I found the blurring between fact and fiction somewhat confusing (and I was an American History major in college!). I kept thinking, "did that really happen?" I wasn't sure what was Whitehead's invention and what was historical. Maybe that was the point? Not sure.
On the flip side, I absolutely LOVED Another Brooklyn. Incredibly beautiful writing. One of my favorites for 2016.
