Marie Silk: the value of permafree?
I am curious. I can't say I have ever read historical fiction. (Maybe I did and never thought of them as so?)
What is historical fiction exactly? Are they mostly stories happening in the past such as during the colonization of America? Or do they have to have something more like the real people who lived in that time?

Hi G.G.! Historical fiction means any story taking place 50+ years ago that includes real historical people, places, and/or things, but also has fictional aspects.
In my books, the main characters are fictional, but the social issues and events that the characters experience are true to the time: Irish and Italian Immigration, WWI, Prohibition, Women's Suffrage, the sinking of the RMS Lusitania, segregation of social classes :).
Oh I see!!! thanks for the clarifications. So it's a challenge to make sure you have your facts right (and the people too of course).
Oh my... I just realized that a story written as I was a kid growing up would not be considered historical. That makes me feel old!! hehehe

I had no idea you were such a taco aficionado!
I've read a bit of historical fiction, but most of what I've read has been historical fantasy: Like the Historical, Johnathan Strange and Mr. Norrell or Three Great Lies. I love that you just randomly finished a 6 book series! Way to inspire us all.

So, the epic novel that's starting to form in my head, set in the Vietnam Conflict era, will have to wait a few more years before I can call it historical fiction. I never knew what the cut-off was.

*does a super duper happy dance*
Helloooo!!!
EDIT: Totally forgot to say, I dig tacos too ^_~
I'm not usually a historical fiction reader, but I could smell the tacos from a mile away. #LoveMehSomeTacos

I'm really interested in your books. Love historical fiction, and the story line you described sounds really interesting. Adding it to my list!

I just saw a book called "The Taco Cleanse". I haven't read the book, but I'm pretty sure all you need to do to have a taco cleanse is eat some tacos *ahem* good to know another book is raising taco awareness :D

The book I meant, not the tacos. But then again, tacos are pretty. Pretty tasty!

Well, I'll let you all in on a secret :D
Davenport House will be free for all countries as a Kindle download on Sunday, December 18!
I've got lots of promotional stuff in the works, but I'm fairly certain that Sunday will be the LAST TIME my book will be available for a free promotion :) I'll post another reminder on Sunday so that hopefully everyone has a chance to get it.

Thank you, Alexis! It was eight months from the time I started writing Book One to the time I was done with Book Six. They are short novels that range from 42K to 48K. Originally, I did not intend to write a series, but it kind of kept evolving and I realized I wasn't ready for the story to end :).

The nacho cheese dipped Tacos sound like heaven!!!

Wow! Even for short novels, that is definitely impressive! My books are about 140k average words, and so far I've released them 8 months apart and thought I was doing pretty well! You're an inspiration!

Also, I know Marie from Facebook and Goodreads, and she's been very helpful. I've learned tons from her, her posts and from her FB publishing page which has been great because I'm just winging it and learning very slowly as I go.

As for cheese, all I can recall is this old ad campaign that was so simple, yet effective. It went like this.
"Ah, the power of cheese."
(Nuff said.)

Just popping in to say I love that cover! :)

Hi Paul, thank you for the kind words and for supporting taco awareness :D I'm glad I could be helpful!

You are doing pretty well! I start to lose consciousness around 45K words so I really don't know how you do it :D
Hi Rohvannyn!!
Thank you, G.G. I was very happy to find this cover ♥

There's this really cool Goodreads member, Kay Macleod, who put together an online Christmas Advent Calendar...wait for it...for indie published books!! She has done a lovely job on the layout and included 2 indie titles per day leading up to Christmas.
Today, December 16, my book Davenport House is featured! If you'd like, please take a minute to scroll through the fantastic books HERE at the Indie Advent Calendar ♥

Please download if you'd like, and enjoy! ♥

I hope everyone gets some good tacos today! If you can't get a taco, I'm sorry and I hope that life gets better for you :)
I thought about getting some writing done, but I'm pretty drained lately from the holiday crazy so I think I will just eat and Netflix!
On that note, I'm not sure how many of you are familiar with the comedian Fluffy/Gabriel Iglesias, but Netflix just added a new episode with him, "I'm sorry for what I said when I was hungry"...it's SO funny! He totally gets me. Now all I want is a Mexican gift basket...

Before that, I was traveling the world, cooking a lot of Mexican food, and hoping to someday become a screenwriter.
When the last season of Downton Abbey ended, I was inspired to write a story of what might have happened in America during the same era. Before I knew it, I had written a 6-book series.
Please feel free to drop in and say hi! Also if you just want to talk about tacos, that's totally okay by me :). #tacoawareness
