Bryony (bryony46) | 1081 comments What are you reading for this category? Did you know of this book already or was it a complete discovery?
Case Histories by Kate Atkinson
I'd heard of the book before as it's quite well known and I think a TV show was made based on the story.

Whose bookshelves did you get inspiration from?
I saw this on my mum's bookshelf ages ago and I'd been meaning to read it.

Do you often browse what people read to discover new books?
I tend to look at people's Goodreads shelves for ideas, rather than people's bookcases. Though if I'm at a friend's house I usually can't resist having a look at their bookshelves for inspiration.

Absolutely. I have at least five go to people when deciding whether to add a book to my TBR. One of them is our moderator Katie. Thank you Katie for reading such dynamite non fiction!!

Composing a Life by Mary Catherine Bateson. I had read an essay of hers and included it in my graduate thesis, but I actually didn't realize there was a whole book until I found it on the shelf of free books at work.

- Whose bookshelves did you get inspiration from?

I don't have any that I go to for inspiration, but I always snoop when I am at people's houses.

- Do you often browse what people read to discover new books?

Absolutely. I love the book comparing tool on Goodreads for this.

Marie | 1060 comments What are you reading for this category?

Doctor Sleep by Stephen King

Did you know of this book already or was it a complete discovery?

I knew about it - it's actually a book I own that I lent to a friend.

Whose bookshelves did you get inspiration from?

My friend Emma, though it wasn't really "inspiration" - when I was making my plan I asked what she had, to see whether there was anything I'd like. She's a kindle reader, so the only physical books she had that I was interested in were ones I'd lent her, but she mentioned wanting to read more Stephen King, so I lent her this one too. She ended up reading it mostly on her kindle version, but the book has been on her shelf since last year, so I think it counts :)

Do you often browse what people read to discover new books?

Never. I like checking out people's books, but just because it's interesting to know what they read, not for recommendations.

Do you often browse what people read to discover new books?
Electronically, yes, and via booktube. I don't think I really know anyone IRL that has physical bookshelves to browse, though.
