It's A Song Begins by Mary Burchell.

Jan (jan130) Grey I just read Blur-Eyed Devil and loved it.

message 53: by Jan (new)

Jan (jan130) Oops. BLUE-Eyed Devil.

message 54: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments I guess I'm keeping my March pick or I'll never read it.

message 55: by Robin (new)

Robin Hill (robinhill) | 1528 comments I still haven't picked one for March. I know Amy said it's not marmy, but Mud Vein is the only book I have I've been afraid to read. IDK what other ones fit the bill. I may need someone to look at my TBR!

message 56: by Robin (new)

Robin Hill (robinhill) | 1528 comments Here. Somebody please help LOL! https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments I'm seriously debating my March pick too. :-(

Robin, looking at your tbr it's going to hard to pick one YOU'RE afraid to read. We gotta know which ones first.

I know! At this point I just want a verified marmy!

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments But isn't the March challenge for a book you're afraid to read? You don't run away from Marmies, you run toward them.

message 60: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments How about Badger???

message 61: by Robin (new)

Robin Hill (robinhill) | 1528 comments Fabi wrote: "But isn't the March challenge for a book you're afraid to read? You don't run away from Marmie's, you run toward them."

True, but the only books I'm afraid to read are books I know I won't like and they wouldn't be on my TBR!

message 62: by [deleted user] (new)

A Farewell to Arms.

Robin Hill (robinhill) | 1528 comments OMG bev! Yes. I am definitely afraid to read that! But I know I'll struggle and I need something to suck me in!

I think I'm going with Ela's idea! I forgot all about that one!

message 65: by [deleted user] (new)

Nothing like a rec you are unsure of or a genre or sub genre you dont usully read?

message 66: by [deleted user] (new)

Lol. All the Marmy books like Badger seems more like catnip for you.

message 67: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments Robin wrote: "OMG bev! Yes. I am definitely afraid to read that! But I know I'll struggle and I need something to suck me in!

I really loved that one despite...

message 68: by Robin (new)

Robin Hill (robinhill) | 1528 comments Truth be told, the book I want to read that I'm the most afraid to try is House of Leaves. And not because it's horror, but because it's intense and potentially difficult to get through. And expensive. I need a collector's edition! Books like these and Hemingway, North and South, etc. that I have on my list will have to wait until I'm not writing so I can focus!

message 69: by Robin (new)

Robin Hill (robinhill) | 1528 comments Catnip for sure! Although I really don't like non-HEA's and IDK if this has one or not. No one tell me!

message 70: by [deleted user] (new)

North and South by Gaskell?

I see. Its scary but a fun scary.

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments Ok, I've narrowed down the list for you. Except for Night Owl, these are all books I wouldn't read. Should make them perfect for you. Although, I think at least one of these does not have an HEA. (I still think the spirit of the challenge is to read a book you wouldn't otherwise read, but I can relate to you wanting one that you know you're going to like for a change from Feb)

The Sea of Tranquility
Night Owl
Sempre
Mud Vein
Therapy
Badger

message 72: by Robin (new)

Robin Hill (robinhill) | 1528 comments North and South by John Jakes. I grew up with the mini series and Patrick Swayze! I've always wanted to read the books.

message 73: by [deleted user] (new)

Fabi, you wont read The Sea of Tranquility? Its so good.

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments I don't like the title. :-(

I think I'm going to like all of these! Sempre I'm nervous about because I think it's HS, but I bought the paperbacks so I have to read them! Night Owl is marmy? I'm considering that one for the "everyone's read it but me" month.

message 76: by Robin (new)

Robin Hill (robinhill) | 1528 comments Fabi wrote: "I don't like the title. :-("

OMG That just made me spit my diet coke through my nose!

message 77: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes, I watched those too, lol.
Oh, Patrick Swayze.

The Gaskell one ive watched and loved, but have yet to read the book.
Im surprised more haven't watched it, its so good and romantic and Richard Armitage all broody, lol.

message 78: by Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications (last edited Feb 18, 2017 08:17AM) (new)

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments Night Owl could be considered Marmy. But take into account it's the only one on my suggestions list that I read (and liked), so the marmieism is relative on that one

message 79: by [deleted user] (new)

I dont even know what to do with that Fabi.
LOL

message 80: by Robin (new)

Robin Hill (robinhill) | 1528 comments Ahh the days of network TV. When North and South or The Thorn Birds would air it was like a major event at our house. I did manage to read The Thorn Birds and LOVED it.

Fabi NEEDS Email Notifications | 872 comments What??? The title of SoT sounds boring to me. Give me something like Escape the Demons or Glass Surface or Under the Blue...

Paula White | 800 comments Loved Sempre..

Sempre, Night owl, Therapy all 5* for me
Mud Vein and Badger on my TBR....

message 83: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments Fabi??? What's wrong with that title?

OMG Fabi stop! I want to DRINK my coke.

message 85: by [deleted user] (new)

It is not boring and makes sense to the story. That ending. ...
But I dont think of it as very Marmy.

She's lost it! Look at her "good" example titles!!! Glass Surface? I swear to god I have to use that title in some way. Ohhhh that's going in my book. It's a band. Fabi named a band.

message 95: by [deleted user] (new)
