First published pseudonymously in 1764, The Castle of Otranto purported to be a translation of an Italian story of the time of the crusades. In it Walpole attempted, as he declared in the Preface to the Second Edition, "to blend the two kinds of romance: the ancient and the modern."
I'll start today.
I'm reading The Shining too :D
I'm reading The Shining too :D
I am also starting today.. Also reading All for Love by Dryden and Hamlet... That's for teaching though! :P
So, I've started it. Read few pages, around 10%.
What a crazy family!!
What a crazy family!!
Things are moving very fast.... And author is giving very little details about the characters/things.
Hey, what's up?
I paused at 40%. Waiting for you :)

It's so drama-ish. Feels like reading a play.
And kinda funny xD
And kinda funny xD
We have heard of characters controlling the action of the play... But here it seems that the actions are controlling the characters... :P did you read the preface btw?and sorry for the delay.. I am not getting much time online.. :(
Preface? There wasn't any preface in my copy (*_*) I downloaded the one Goodreads provided.
Was it any good?

It's okay. Even I wont have that much time in the upcoming weeks.
I'm halfway done, and honestly this is kinda boring. On every new paragraph, Manfred changes his mind. So much is happening. Hope it gets better.
The story is narrated in such a way that anything comic would not even fit into it! That's gothic for you my friend! But this novel is really primitive for that matter! :P The Fall of the House of Usher by Edgar Allan Poe is much deep and sounds more convincing.. But its a short story with a seriously gothic feel! Read this also!
and give me your email id.. Here or in the inbox! I will send you my version with my highlighted portions!
Sorry for the intrusion. But wanted to share a small trick to get email ids of your fellow readers if shared on GR.Go to friends, search for that friend, click on add a story... and you get the id on the next screen if the person has shared it with GR...
For instance, you have shared dgd********92@gmail.com with GR which I assume is your active ID.
Hope that helps :)
Cool hack Gorab.
Diptarup, let's discuss it tomorrow. I'll be finished till then.
