SOLVED. horror short story about a kid that plays over a "strange" carpet [s]

the story is simple. I don't remember exactly the plot, it is something like that: there is a kid at home alone. On the floor there is a carpet with different shapes and colors.
The game that the kid plays is the following: put his feed over the shapes of the carpet that are not red, because in his mind red means fire.
At the end of the story the kid touches one red shape and something happens...

I've read different collections of stephen king, richard matheson, clive bakers, asimov....but I don't remember the author..
any ideas??
