Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is very loosely based on the novel of the same name. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was released on November 18 2016.
Just so you know I haven't seen it yet, but I will this weekend. Heard the reviews are great!

I never actually read it, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the movie.. The animals were great, but the plot-line wasn't the best. Idk, maybe it's just me. I know that most people loved the movie

I was a fun movie. But don't expect it to be like the Harry Potter movies.

I surprisingly liked it a lot. I went into it without knowing a thing except that it is loosely based on the school book. It was very refreshing after the cursed child, because the wizarding world is expanded even further. It felt almost like the original books.
Don't set your hopes to high and I am sure you'll have a great time.

I'm not very far through it (act 2 scene 10 maybe) and I only like Scorpius. I don't like anything else.

I really liked Scorpius and the moments with Draco. Despite everything else.

I really enjoyed Fantastic Beasts. I thought it was fun and touching. It also had a good message about tolerance and acceptance. I haven't read the book yet, but I will.

I still haven't touched that. I still feel butthurt that it is officially considered the 8th book in the series. Uh... nope.

Just watched Fantastic Beasts!!!! It's pretty great. Eddie Redmayne did an awesome job at playing Newt Scamander.

I haven't read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - Parts One and Two yet. But everyone seems to be panning it. Is there anyone out there who liked it? Maybe someone can tell me what's so terrible (without spoilers please.) Should I just skip it?

^ I've read more negative than positive reviews. And even those were lukewarm.

(At least, among the people I trust, majority of them hated it. And hated the fact that it is considered canon.)

(view spoiler)[I saw this on opening night with my parents and sister. I don't think anyone really knew it was coming out last night, as including my family, there were only 16 people in our small-town theater!! But I am so glad I got to be a part of that seclusive group, because I imagine the theater was packed on Friday night.
So, the movie. My entire family, myself most definitely included, thought it was awesome! I even rate it higher than Half-Blood Prince.
One aspect in particular was that it was really light and easy to digest. The Harry Potter films became so dark from movie 4 on, and it was nice to start fresh with such a positive and uplifting beginning. Even the music added to this, with just the main notes of Hedwig's Theme rather than a full-out soundtrack in the clouds. So, I really enjoyed the "fresh yet familiar slate."
The characters are quirky and lovable. I went in wanting to like Jacob best, although I was afraid he would come across as a babbling idiot. This WAS NOT the case, and I am so pleased! So far he is my favourite, but everyone was pretty interesting. I really hope he gets his memory back, but I loved how readily he accepted that he needed to forget everything.
My Mom and I lost it laughing when Johnny Depp was revealed (looking amazing as always), and I am ecstatic that he will be a part of this creation. I didn't know what to think about Graves throughout the film, but I am glad that they have made the connection to Grindelwald. I just wish that we could have some time-line released to show exactly when Grindelwald gets the Elder Wand, when he met Dumbledore, when he turned evil, etc. etc. I also wonder how he achieved his disguise, as Polyjuice Potion has many flaws, and rarely (if ever) have we been exposed to any other "full body transformations" such as this one.
Queenie is probably my second favourite character, and I loved the fluidity of magic in this movie. In HP it seems like they only use magic for battles, so it was more exciting, interesting, and just plain fun to see it used so casually. I feel like this is a better representation of being a witch or wizard than how it is in HP.
I wished there had been a lethifold, but I really liked the creatures I did see. I loved how gentle and loving Newt was towards all of his beasts; it was beautiful!
I didn't really like when Tina was about to be killed because everyone was too calm about it, and calm torture (if that makes sense) is my worst fear, but that was about my only problem with the film. The little girl Modesty scared me a little; more so her clothing and, I don't know, sometimes seeing bare children's arms freaks me out, but I accepted it as a representation of the time-line.
Mary-Lou reminds me of a woman I know with adopted children that she has mistreated, so I easily empathized with Credence. I loved the personification of his suppressed powers, as it was something we never really considered for the other books.
And I loved the Deathly Hallows necklace--way to subtly tie everything together, especially then Grindelwald's story.
All-in-all though, it was exciting, it was funny but not stupid humour, and it was entertaining. I have a feeling that movie two will not be called Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 as he seems to have resolved the "lost beast" issue, but I can't wait to see what is to come!! Guys. You know how Mr. Graves gave Gredance a Deathly Hallows necklace? That was our hint right there that he was Grindelwald. Nobody in America knew what those were therefore he had to be from Europe and he was wanting the 3 Deathly Hallows.

I've just finished the screenplay book. I loved the film and the book is just as good, also the illustrations throughout are just stunning.

It's too bad that the sequel to this was such a letdown!! I was really looking forward to this series!!
