message 3: by annapi (new)

annapi | 5505 comments I wish I knew how many books there are in my TBR pile, I never kept a list!

At 800 books (a wild-ass guess), based on my last year's total which is the lowest it's been in 9 years, it tells me it will take 7 years 5 months. Not too bad.

message 4: by Susie (new)

Susie 6 years and nine months.

message 5: by Jgrace (new)

Jgrace | 3951 comments That was fun. It would take me 10 years, 4 months to read my GoodReads tbr. Maybe I could eliminate a few of those books.

message 6: by Sabrina (new)

Sabrina (wordstained) | 290 comments If I went by my to-be-read shelf here, which is highly inaccurate, it says it would take me 97 years.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'll be dust by then!

message 7: by Nicole R (new)

Nicole R (drnicoler) | 8088 comments 2 years. I keep my TBR pretty slim!

message 8: by Anita (new)

Anita Pomerantz | 9296 comments Oh, a mere 7 years and 10 months. Terrific.

LOL, okay - - you really need to trim that sucker!!

message 10: by Kristel (new)

Kristel (kristelh) | 699 comments Mine came out to somewhere over 3 years but it is totally inaccurate because my TBR on GR does not have all the books I really want to read and does not include the 1001 books (about half) that I am suppose to read and will never finish. My real goal is just to keep reading for a long time.

message 11: by Book Concierge (new)

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 8434 comments I guestimated 3000 books on the tbr .... it'll take 18yr 3 mos ... and I'll be 84. Do-able!

message 12: by Linda C (new)

Linda C (libladynylindac) | 1791 comments 17 years and 6 months for what's on my shelves now, but I keep adding to it, so that is the lowest possible completion at this point

message 13: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12949 comments It says 3 years and 4 months for me to read 238 books and I will be 51.

message 14: by Ladyslott (new)

Ladyslott | 1880 comments I own 400 books, at my current pace it will take me 3 years and 11 months. That assumes I will only read from my TBR pile. This year I read 31 books that I own. The other 64 books came from the library, so that estimate of of about 4 years is hopelessly optimistic.

message 15: by Denizen (new)

Denizen (den13) | 1138 comments I don't let my TBR go over 400 books but recently did a small purge and am down to 390. I tend to purge obscure books that aren't available from the library - I don't often utilize interlibrary loan. My owned book are generally on my TBR but it also contains any book that I want to read and plan to get from the library. Like Ladyslott, I use the library for most of my reading.

Anyhow, at my pace for the last several years, I will finish in 6 years 5 months. If I reduce my goal to allow for more door stoppers, it will take me 8 years.

message 16: by Sara (new)

Sara (mootastic1) | 770 comments 16 years and 10 months for the books on my goodreads tbr. My reading pace tends to vary from about 40-70 books a year, so I put in 52. On the low end, but it makes up for those years I read less.

message 17: by Joi (last edited Dec 08, 2016 12:16PM) (new)

Joi (missjoious) | 3970 comments My TBR Goodreads list will take 4 1/2 years. Not too bad. I'll only be 29 so it doesn't seem daunting at all.

I try (not super well) to keep my TBR list a smaller number than the my read list on GR. Currently my 'read' list has 243, and my TBR has 318. This gives me two options- read more and more to keep up with my Mt. TBR or purge the TBR list. I think it helps me keep my book lists in in check.

message 18: by Jen (new)

Jen | 1545 comments 1 year. but I keep my TBR under 200 and it's constantly changing based on what comes out in any given year.

message 19: by Booknblues (new)

Booknblues | 12128 comments 10 years 11 months...and I will probably be adding to that....it definitely needs to shrink.

message 20: by ~*Kim*~ (new)

~*Kim*~ (greenclovers75) It will take me 5 years, 6 months to read all the books I own. If I read everything on my wish list, it will take 19 years and 1 month. LOL!

LibraryCin | 11719 comments Book Concierge wrote: "I guestimated 3000 books on the tbr .... it'll take 18yr 3 mos ... and I'll be 84. Do-able!"

Ha! Do-able only if you don't add more! Like that will happen... ;-)

message 22: by LibraryCin (new)

LibraryCin | 11719 comments Not too bad for me, either. My tbr at LT is more up to date than here, plus I don't have all my physical books there, so I rounded up and got this:

Reading all 600 books will take:
4 years and 3 months

You will finish your TBR pile on:
March 22, 2021

And you will be:
48

message 23: by Karin (new)

Karin | 9245 comments The rest of my life, and I still won't be finished. This is because my tbr is ever-changing, so I am always adding books even as I read them, and I am also quite a procrastinator with some books.

message 24: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12949 comments One good thing about putting books on the TBR at Goodreads is the giveaway offers. I got four new offers this morning and have won three to date. Also, when the PBT tags lead us to the list, it highlights your matched TBR. So I like that feature of the long list.

message 25: by Nicole D. (new)

Nicole D. | 1573 comments 2.5 years! haha. woot.

message 26: by Regina Lindsey (new)

Regina Lindsey | 1005 comments Well, if it is true that one won't die until you've read all your books we all have many years ahead of us!

message 27: by Barbara M (new)

Barbara M (barbara-m) | 2599 comments 28 years and 5 months. Yeah, I have to cut down my TBR. Reality strikes! Besides, I have to make room for all the books I'll add through being part of PBT :-) I'll probably get right back up to 28 years.

Barbara M (barbara-m) | 2599 comments Regina wrote: "Well, if it is true that one won't die until you've read all your books we all have many years ahead of us!"

I've always stuck to that saying :-)

message 29: by Denizen (new)

Denizen (den13) | 1138 comments I was inspired by this post to initiate a purge. I went through my TBR and removed about 30 books - down to 369.

message 30: by Susie (new)

Susie I need to do the same Denizen.

message 31: by JoLene (new)

JoLene (trvl2mtns) | 1532 comments Sigh, 15 years!! I will be 65 so it's not beyond the realm of possibility. Of course to be really accurate they should ask how fast your TBR grows as well.

According to my last year stats (that I keep myself), I read 10 more books from my TBR than new books and library books combined.

message 32: by Marina (new)

Marina (sonnenbarke) It will take me 3 years and 2 months, which is perfectly doable... or rather, it would be, if I didn't keep adding books to my TBR! And that's only counting the books I actually own, not the ones on my wishlist! (which are many more)
The age calculator is not accurate at all, since it says I will be 36, while in 2020 I will most definitely be 38 - and I think I'm pretty sure of the year I was born in, lol!

message 33: by Jenni Elyse (new)

Jenni Elyse (jenni_elyse) Reading all 1103 books will take:
26 years and 10 months
You will finish your TBR pile on:
November 15, 2043
And you will be:
64

That's if I read 41 books/year like I did in 2015. At the rate I read this year:

44 years and 1 months
You will finish your TBR pile on:
February 2, 2061
And you will be:
82

That's, of course, if I don't add any other books to my TBR between now and then. Ha ha! Fat chance!
