Task 20.6. Seasoned Reader – Nicola T's Task: Repos Production’s 7Wonders

I’m a big fan of playing games (whether its role-playing, card, board or video). One of my favourite deck card games is 7Wonders based on the 7 original ancient wonders of the world.
The game is played out in three “ages” using cards that represent different resources or structures. Some cards can only be used in just one or two of the three ages so the player has to be strategic in their planning.

Choose one option from the three below and read one book for that option. Required when you post: State which option you chose .

Option 1: “The first age”
Cards that give you raw resources to build are available in this age.
The resources are : wood, ore, brick and stone

Requirements: Read a book with at least one of these 4 resources found intact in the title/subtitle or featured on the cover.
REQUIRED: If you use the cover option, include the cover in your post and point out the item.
Examples:
The Woods
The Moonstone
Dimestore: A Writer's Life

Option 2: “The second age”
Cards that give you manufactured resources to use are available in this age.
The resources are: glass, paper and cloth

Requirements: Read a book with at least one of these 3 resources found intact in the title/subtitle or featured on the cover.
REQUIRED: If you use the cover option, include the cover in your post and point out the item.
Examples:
The Clothes On Their Backs
A Mathematician Reads the Newspaper

Option 3: “The third age”
Cards that give you guilds are available in this age.

Requirements: Read a book where the title/subtitle contains the word guild or one of the following synonyms for guild: association, society, union, league, alliance, coalition, federation, consortium, syndicate, combine, trust, organization, company, cooperative, partnership, fellowship, club, order, lodge, sisterhood, sorority, brotherhood, fraternity.

For this option, Plurals are allowed but no other variations.

Examples:
Trust Me, I'm Lying
The Fellowship of the Ring

message 9: by Bea (new)

Bea So, if I understand correctly, the title must contain the word of the type of material for the age or the cover can show an item made of the material. Correct?

I don't understand the example of Dimestore A Writer's Life by Lee Smith , which does not seem to match the criteria for option 1.

Great! its an easy to pick up game-only takes you about 40mins-1 hour and has a beginners and advanced version (on either side of the minin boards each player gets) to suit the capabilities of the group. Its also a relatively cheap game too, which always helps :)

Hi Bea, The "Dimestore" in the title contains the resource "ore" at the end so is accepted. I understand it may not be obvious as one of the resources is also "stone" which is so close to "store" it could have looked like a typo! :)

There are some extra boards you can get, too, as well as the Leaders expansion, which I'm still trying to decide if I like.

OOI, could a tree count for wood on the cover?

I'm looking into expansions for Christmas. A tree would count as long as you can properly see its trunk and not just the leafy top of the tree.

Thanks for clearing that up for me, Nicola. Usually I can figure out such things, but this one really stumped me.

Hi Barbara, not sure the cottage being stone is clear enough but the wall is and you also have "wood" in the tree, so yes.

Both approved, though Christmas in Harmony would likely not be accepted as it is less than 100 pages?
