I look forward to chatting with you over the coming year.

Hi Hannah... I am from snowy southwestern Ontario; and i too read The Other Boleyn Girl...that one got me hooked on reading other books about women in history --currently I have on my night stand The Devil's Queen--it's the story of Catherine De Medici...only i havent had time to start it as i have about 20 other stacked there too and a whole bunch on my ereader...so many books; so little time :)

Hey Greg.. I am with you on that one, "when I find a new author I like, I go back to their first book and try to read their books in the order published" Half the fun can be trying to source all those old back copies... :) I often stumble upon a series that is older, most have already read them and i come along thinking it's all new and fresh *doh* :)

Thank you.

I am Kimia 20, Persian, living in California.I find this group by browsing in the Goodreads.I like to read all kinds of books.Actually, I am looking for some book recommendation :)
glad to join this group.

I hope that keeps me motivated to beat him next year :D

HI Hannah! I read Time Travelers Wife last month and loved it! Anytime someone says they are looking for a good book to read, I suggest this one! How did you like it?

With my never ending reading list, I hope to get through 60 books in 2017!

My goal for 2017 is 75 glorious books!

I would like to read 40 books in 2017. I am not sure which challenge i will pick. I have 230 books on my to read list so I may try to work on that.

I used to be almost exclusively a non-fiction reader. Then I started participating in challenges. Now I'm happy to say I read lots of fiction, too, and 5 of my 5 star books from 2016 were fiction.
The 2015 and 2016 Reading Challenges got me hooked. Unfortunately it looks as if there won't be a 2017 Reading Challenge from that group, so I went in search of a new home, and was so pleased to find this group. I completed my 52 books for the 2015 challenge by cheating: my last book was The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, which, at 1,280 pages was a bite larger than I could chew at year-end. Fortunately for me, it is divided into several parts, or books, and I was able to finish a few of them before 2016 rolled around. I should finish my 2016 challenge in plenty of time without cheating--I'm on my last book now, and as it's a reread, I know I will finish it.
I'm at 143 books for the year so far, and will probably finish at 145. I've made my own challenge of 52 categories for 2017 because I've had so much fun with that format in 2015 and 2016. I'll be posting my challenge categories in my goal discussion topic.

My name is Pouneh. I live in Göttingen, a small town in Germany but was born in Bushehr, a small town in Iran.
I searched goodreads for a new challenge for 2017 since I am not satisfied with the Book Riot's Read Harder Challenge-topics for next year (I understand that challenging yourself to read books out of your usual reading habits is the goal of the Read Harder Challenge, but I simply have no interest in travel memoirs, spiritual self-discoveries etc.) and this group seems to be loads of fun!
I cannot really pinpoint which genres I love because my reading is highly dependent on my mood, however, I try to at least try to read as many different genres as possible.
In 2016, my reading goal increased dramatically from initially 35 to 100 books. However, I won't be able to remain this pace since I hope to find a fultime job rather sooner than later. So I will set my goal at 52 books (I also participate in the Around the Year in 52 Books Challenge).
Looking forward to a satisfying reading year 2017 and to meeting you all!

I'm Victoria and I am from the beautiful albeit small New Zealand. I read any genre under the sun and I would love to make some friends on here. I joined GoodReads two years ago but left my account dormant until I found this lovely group.
My reading goal is two books a month, making that twenty-four in total! Can't wait to see everyone else's progress :)

Ruxy what do you consider the most captivating book you have read this year?
Brian I have never been able to really get into history what draws you to it specifically?

My name is Andrew and I come from Montreal. I'm a first year IB high school student, and I've loved reading ever since I was able to pick up a book. Recently, I've been spending a lot less time on books, mostly due to me being busy in school, so for 2017, I want to keep my Goodreads more up to date so I can stay on track with my reading.
I like reading non fiction and sci fi a lot, but my favourite genres change from year to year. My bookshelves are filled with a smorgasbord of books, with some non fiction and sci fi titles at the top.
I'm looking forward to a good year!

My name is Alya and I'm from Bahrain. I've been a member on this website for a while now. I've discovered my love for reading at quiet a late stage of my life and been trying to catch up with all the series and novels since! (only just read the Harry Potter books this year!)
I'm hopping that by being part of a group I'll be able to read even more books and be able to discover more books through the challenges :)

I actually have worked at a library for the past 10 years which gives me a good chance to see what people are reading. Sadly it doesn't mean I get to read all day, unlike what some people think. That's what my commute is for (about an hour and a half each way on public transit).
Now I'm off to join some challenges and then set up my reading corner...

I've exceeded my number of books read challenge for 2016. I'm setting my challenge here at 10, and may up it as the year progresses. (Is that okay to do?)

You can set up your challenge in any way you want :)

I think I'm setting my goal for this year at 45 books again because there are so, so many books I want to read and I have time now because school isn't that stressful right now.
I've been really into crime these past few months but I haven't found any thet great. I like serialkiller crimes and psychology thrillers, but there aren't many that I've found. The suspense really gets me.
Well I'm from Sweden but I won't read in Swedish, it just feels wrong to me.
If you have any tips on any books thats amazing. I read amost every genre to find my favourite. Right now I'm reading a lot of fantasy and dystopia.

I'm not really a thriller reader myself, but I am sure that there are people in this group that can recommend some great books for you to read.

I love reading pretty much any genre and the best books I've read so far have been referrals. So, I am hoping you guys can inspire to complete 52 books in 2017.
