Nienora | 30 comments Hi everyone! I'm Nina.

I like to read fantasy, epic-fantasy, fiction. But I would like to try mystery, crime, SciFi. (If you have any book recommendations feel free to send me a message).
One of my all time favorite authors is J. R. R. Tolkien. Currently I'm in love with Shadowhunter Chronicles. (I'm reading Lady Midnight now)

My reading challenge for this year is 26 books, but I hope to read more. I'll look up challenges in this group and try to join few of them.

Susy (susysstories) Welcome Nina! I hope you'll find some nice challenges to join. The group and buddy reads are also a lot of fun imo. Good luck with your goal and happy reading!

Ana | 2 comments Hello everyone!
My name is Ana. I am from Serbia, but I lived in few other countries in Europe, and I'm soon moving to D.C. I have a degree in Russian language and literature and Political Science. I like to read classics, as well as more contemporary authors. Czech authors fit my taste well. :) Until now I read mostly non-American authors, but I'm planning to change that. I also read a lot of non-fiction books specialized in art history, sociology, history and politics.
I'm excited to become part of this group, and I'm looking forward to discovering new books with you. :)

Susy (susysstories) Welcome to the group Ana!

Ash | 1 comments Yellow!
My name's Ash, I'm from Milwaukee, WI, (The States). Don't particularly like long walks on sandy beaches but do enjoy every genre of book, aside from the cheesy 80/90s supermarket romance novels. My reading goal for 2017 is 26 books and I'm at 18 books I believe thus far. :)

message 1407: by Susy (new)

Susy (susysstories) Welcome Ash! Good luck with your goal (you're well on your way to reaching it) and happy reading!

message 1409: by A.C. (new)

A.C. | 1 comments Hello group!
My name is Aimee, and I love reading anything from non-fiction, classical works, essays, young adult fiction, scifi and fantasy, mythology. I especially like those semi-dystopian novels about alternate futures or pasts and steampunk. I'm sure there are a hundred other genres I could list. But that's a good start.

My favorite authors of forever are Terry Pratchett and Scott Westerfeld.

I'm currently in Southern Arizona. And I'd like to try reading more non-fiction books this year. I'm going to go with five. So far I've read 2.5.

message 1410: by Susy (new)

Susy (susysstories) Welcome Jarrett and Aimee!

message 1411: by Alexandra (new)

Alexandra (zofotaalexandragmailcom) Hi! My name is Alexandra and I'm from Romania. I intend to read more books this year than I did last year. I'm a medical student and I don't have much time. I just found this group and thought it would help me motivate myself to make time for reading.
Books are my passion. I like to read romance, SF, crime, mystery, horror, all kinds of books. And also collecting them. This year my reading goal is 30 books. It's not much, but I hope I can do it.

Lisa Grønsund | 6163 comments Welcome to the group Alexandra! Best of luck reaching your goal this year :)

message 1413: by David (new)

David Trujillo (pepperz_zen) Hi I'm David I just joined in to goodreads and i'm from Las Vegas, NV. I just started walking to the path of books, and i'm loving it. I found this group just by looking around goodreads page. My goal for the end of 2017 is read 6 books since i'm just getting into reading. i'm excited that this is my first group to join in to!

message 1415: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Seeck | 1 comments Hi, Everyone!

My name is Kristen and I am joining the group from Bettendorf, Iowa located right on the Mississippi River. I am an Exercise Science major working on certifications to become a certified strength and conditioning specialist with hopes of pursuing a masters in Public Health. When I am not reading, I am competing in bodybuilding shows throughout the United States. I have never been a part of a club before and am exciting to join one.

I am very open minded when it comes genres of books. I love fiction in general, books about traveling, and autobiographies in particular. My favorite books that I have read so far this year are The Night Circus, The Girl With Seven Names, A Thousand Splendid Suns, and the Glass Castle.

My reading goal is a book every week. I would like to explore different genres, however. I was hoping that by joining a club I would be exposed to more ideas.

message 1416: by Susy (new)

Susy (susysstories) Welcome Kristen! I hope you find enough inspiration in all the challenges and our buddy and group reads!

message 1419: by Newly (new)

Newly Wardell | 46 comments Hey gang, I'm back from my reading sabbatical. I need to read about 50 books in the next couple months. Can anyone say hello manga and comics! I see you graphic novels! I know that's cheeky but I need to be less snobby about my reading. Anyone know any great short stories! Who can fit the most book in the least pages? I dunno but I hope to have a better idea by the end of 2017! Please send me your favorite short stories or writers. THX!

Welcome Kristin, I'm looking for short stories. If you know of any let me know. Ideal is 200 pages or under. Welcome. Have you ever read Arnold Schwartzeneggar's Bodybuilding for Women? I was thinking about doing the workouts for a couple months at least during fall and winter. It looks like some good information lemme know.

Shauna , Great name btw! Can you think of any short stories? I haven't read romance in years? I've been reading old and weird stuff for a while now. Classics and sci-fi fantasy mostly. Have you checked out the reading challenges or Buddy Reads yet? The popsugar or dead writers are two of my favorites reading challenges. Even tho I'm super behind.

message 1428: by Mntnmama (last edited Sep 08, 2017 04:00PM) (new)

Mntnmama | 4 comments Hi I am Elizabeth from Reno NV. I have had my nose in a book since I can remember. I can't even go to sleep at night until I have read some bit of the current book by my nightstand...even if it's only a paragraph. After spending the last 20 years raising kids, cooking, working at a career and having no time to read at all, I am back to my first love...devouring a good book, quietly at night. I love all types of books but a good old fashion mystery, a la Christie or Du Maurier, is the cherry on the top of the cake for me! I started late in the year so I have a lightweight goal of only 25 books.....already on book 13!

message 1429: by Susy (new)

Susy (susysstories) Welcome to the group Elizabeth!

message 1430: by Aarathi Burki (new)

Aarathi Burki (artiram) | 2 comments Hi all I am Aarathi from India. I am an ardent book reader and love buying books. Reading is a part and parcel of my daily life and I usually don't end my day without reading at least a couple of pages. My favourite author is PG Wodehouse, I own a huge collection of almost all his books and reading them daily. Apart from comedy I like romance, adventure and mystery novels with Agatha Christie being my second favourite author. I also like john Grisham , angie sage, Sidney sheldon and Harry Potter books.
My goodreads reading challenge is progressing well and I have completed 41/50 books for this year challenge.

Thanks....

Slutilyadorkable | 1 comments Hello everyone!
My name is Kaumudi and i'm from India. I love to read classic, murder-mystery, young adult ficton, romance, adventure ficton & fantasy novel or anything which I can get on discount because i am broke half of the time, Contrary to which I love collecting books and just keeping them on my shelf because one look at my room and you would understand how much of a procrastinator I am. I have been wanting to join a book club for so long and when I made a goodreads account today and saw it has book clubs, I just knew I had to join one, so here I am.
Now my reading goal- I am a pretty fast reader and it takes me just a day to complete a book of around 500 pages which is why I never set my goal according to book numbers so I will just go with the flow and read as many book as my procrastinating self can read.

message 1436: by Delaney (new)

Delaney (delaneyrice) | 53 comments Hello! My name is Delaney. I live in the US of A and would rather not say much more of my location. I love reading dystopian type novels, classics, or WWII Historical Fiction (such as The Book Thief or Number the Stars) My goal for reading this year is 30 books but I think I will exceed it, so it might change. I am currently reading The Maze Runner series and re-reading The Witch of Blackbird Pond for school.

Hi everyone!

message 1441: by Sandy (new)

Sandy Kimberley | 2 comments Hi all! I'm Sandy from Queensland, Australia. I call myself a beginner reader, leaning towards fiction that I find not too complicated to read. I began reading in February this year, and have completed 12 books so far.
My two favorite authors so far are Liane Moriarty and Nicholas Sparks. I have realized I've got an obsession of buying tons of books, I'm building a library rather fast, almost 80 books now.
My goal this year was to read 8 books, but I think next year's goal will be forty.

message 1442: by Susy (new)

Susy (susysstories) Hi Sandy, welcome to the group! I think most of us here on GR really have to try and not buy too many books. I just don't have the space so that's what I keep telling myself. I started out with a goal of 12 books myself, upped it to 24 and next year I will go for 40 books too.
Are you planning on joining any of the group-/buddy reads or challenges? Looking forward to see what you will be reading! Happy reading!

message 1443: by Julia (new)

Julia Gulley | 3 comments Hi Everyone, my name is Julia and I am from northwest Texas. I have been a reader since I was about 5 years old (I learned early) when I would stay up late at night reading with a flashlight, later a book clip light, then I gave up on all pretense of sleeping and read with the lights on, now of course I read with my kindle back light on (my husband appreciates the invention of this). I love historical fiction, epic fantasy, sci-fi, and several other genres. I am just getting into a little thriller and suspense, only because of a book group I've joined, it's never really been my thing. I was lead to this group by another reader I follow on book tube, yes....I love to see and hear what everyone else is reading. My goal was set at 52 books this year and I surpassed that several months ago, I don't like to set my goals too high but next year I think I will set it to 104. I'm looking forward to reading along with everyone...

message 1444: by Ilona (new)

Ilona | 4698 comments Welcome to the group Julia!
Oohh, I had forgotten all about the book clip lights, good old times. These days I am so happy with my Kobo Aura, no additional lights needed :)

Happy reading!

message 1445: by Si (new)

Si Straw | 2 comments Hello all, I'm Si from rural East Anglia in the U.K.
My tastes range widely, many thrillers, some classic horror, the occasionally autobiography and a little politics. Anything that appeals, a good story always hooks me in. Also I read cricket books, the older and tattier the better.
My reading goal is 24. Plucked out of the air, see how it goes: some long reads are in my libraries !

message 1446: by Susy (new)

Susy (susysstories) Welcome Si! Good luck with your goal and happy reading!

message 1447: by sansumind (new)

sansumind | 1 comments Hi Everyone! I am Sansu from Indonesia. A brief introduction.. I have been reading since I was 6 yrs old perhaps. Starting on comics then romance/fiction novels and as I grew older I have more interest on mystery/horror/non-fiction novels. Nowadays, I am more into History, Psychology, Science, Business and Cooking books- all the heavy stuffs. I read both local and international books.

I hope by joining this group, I will be more motivated to finish a book than buying a new one. And able to inspire one another into a more positive way. Let's read better!

message 1448: by Susy (new)

Susy (susysstories) Welcome Sansu! I'm not sure this group is going to help you buying less books lol, but it has helped me to finish books and read more. Happy reading!

message 1449: by Adeena (new)

Adeena H. (ahrrs) | 12 comments Hi guys! I'm Adeena and I'm from Indonesia. I've been a member of goodreads since last year, mostly to check some book reviews before I purchased it. I like to read some YA books, teen fiction & romance. I stumbled upon the group and thought to give it a chance and maybe I can find some cool books recommend and some friends too along the way. Please kindly accept me. I know 2017 is almost over but I just got time to start my goal, my goal for this year is 10 books (cause I'm too busy) I finished 3 books in 2 days so it's fine I think

message 1450: by Ilona (new)
