Welcome Heather! Nice to have you on board. I think you will like this group. It's a very active but easy going one. Looking forward to see what you will be reading!

welcome Camille! Good luck with your goal and happy reading!

Hi Michele, welcome to the group! As I was told when I joined this groups it's a goal of 12 books, it's not the quantity but the quality that counts. So as long as you're enjoying what you're reading, that's the most important thing.
I usually read two books at the same time, a paper one during the day and a digital one at night. That helps me a bit to stay concentrated since I can switch. Also being a part of this group, especially joining the buddy and group reads, helped me a lot to rekindle my passion for reading and motivates me to read more.
I read IT quite some time ago and just loved it too. The movie is coming out soon so I'm looking forward to that too.
I wish you good luck with your goal and happy reading! Looking forward to see what you'll be reading!

Welcome Sowmiya!

I love to read and will crack open just about anything. I've been looking around and I'm having a hard time deciding which challenges I want to do!

And please, tell us what's the story behind your nickname? You made me curious!!

I'm Talal
Free Syrian
I am seeking a career, which will expand my education and various skills, develop my professional career, and have a good experience in various fields of work, in order to be able to help my family, myself and my community to have better future, also to be active person in my society, and have a role in my community , and i will be happy if i learned more from your experience .

Thank you for the warm welcome, Susy. Yes, I really hope so. This group looks great and I'm eager to discover more.
Well, about my nickname, actually it's a pretty lame story. So, back then, my brother was very certain that he would have a baby sister, so he already picked a name for me. Hence, the nickname 'Bunga'. After my birthday, my father named me 'Bungadewi' (that's my middle name), but my grand mother disagreed with it and demanded a more traditional name, so it was changed to 'Puspitadewi'. 'Puspita' is a Javanese word means, simply, 'Bunga' (flower).

My name is Monica and I'm from Texas. I enjoy reading all sorts of books but tend to pull toward fiction most frequently. I found this group by browsing through groups. My reading goal is to read over 30 books this year and try to reach for books that I typically would not.

Please excuse my ignorance, but why would Bungadewi not be a proper name? And does "dewi" have a particular meaning? I noticed both names end like that.
If you have any questions about the group, please don't hesitate to ask!

I am from Moldova and I turned this days 20. I saw the group being recommended for the new members and I joined. Hope to meet some new friends here.
I adore to read. I was always famous at school for reading faster and better than the others deed, so that's why today I am starving for good books after I finish the old ones.
I like to read almost every type of book. But i prefer sci-fi and some romantic books, but not that much about love.
I like books that talk about real life events and that try to present me the story as I was there, living it.

My name is wafae , from Morocco , yeah I know morocco , that's so far lol . I love reading , it gives me, my brain an escape ..This is my first time ever in a book group , I have no idea how things works , my goal is to read 20 books , I'm almost there , I'm more into adventures , romance genres

I'm glad to have found and joined this group!

I recommend the group reads and buddy reads in order to (hopefully) find great books you haven't already read :) Also, you can always suggest books you might be interested in reading as buddy reads and meet tons of people with similar tastes that way.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
Goodluck with your reading challenge :)

My name is Roxanne, born and raised in NYC.
I have a huge, ever-growing TBR pile of books that is quite diverse. I enjoy reading fiction, biographies/autobiographies/memoirs, self-help/professional/spiritual books and occasionally some sci-fi/thrillers. I'm trying to read more classic lit and branch out with some of my reading choices.
I found the group by looking for it as I could use some more accountability in reaching my reading goal. I've pushed myself to try to read 60 books this year. I had a slow start this year but I've picked up more books last month and this month and watch less TV to try to catch up. With so many books I want to read in my lifetime, I definitely want to read way more than I have in past years. I used to feel like reading more than 1-2 books at a time (aside from juggling books when I was in school) would be too confusing and slow my progress, but now I find that having a rotation of 3-4 books at once is helping so much with my desire to complete more books.
I just finished re-reading The Handmaid's Tale (which I first read senior year of high school) and it's still one of my favorites!

I'm sorry it took me so long to reply. I was busy reading. I'm so happy that my reading mood is back and I've been reading almost nonstop since then. So, about your question, it was because my grandmother preferred the traditional Javanese name than the Indonesian one. And 'dewi' means goddess. But, to be honest, I never ask my parents about the whole meaning of my name. I just know that it is a good prayer for me.
Yeah, I have one question, if I found some discussion group I would like to join, but there are already a list of participants of it, can I join? For example, the discussion groups about Lunar Chronicles series that I just found.

Hi Retna, you're welcome to join the buddy reads! You can either post here or in the topic itself that you would like to join, and Mary Pat will add you to list of participants. Keep in mind that buddy reads of the previous months won't be as active as the current month, but you can still post your reading experiences. Looking forward to hear what you think of the Lunar Chronicles :)

Ofcourse, you can! Feel free to join any buddy read you like, even if your name isn't on the list :) The more, the merrier.

Good to hear that your reading mood is back! So please, no need to apologize!
Ilona already explained how to join the buddy reads. I too am reading the lunar chronicles, so I'm very curious to hear how you like the series!

Thanks for the welcome & well wishes, Susy! I, too, get hooked on TV series and sometimes it's easy to get so wrapped up that I forget to read as much as I'd like. Glad we're both working on being better bookworms lol.

Thank you for the welcome note, Lisa! I'm also new this week to the Goodreads community.

My name is Sarena, I'm from Southern California. I've nearly completed my reading goal of 20 books for this year, and I'm sure I will surpass it by the end of the year. I just joined goodreads recently and have discovered that this is my new favorite app. I will dive into just about anything if it's well written, and have many favorite authors and books. Nice to meet all of you!😊

Welcome Kimberly. Your genre match mine so far.
