Introduce Yourself to the Group - 2017!

Good luck with your respective goals. I hope you join in on the challenges and group/buddy reads throughout the year :)
Please don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have. Happy reading!

You may call me Florian or Raziel (if you feel like it Yang works too) (whichever you prefer (I have a lot of names ^^)) (feel free to make up a nickname), I'm 17, from Switzerland, half german, half chinese and just recently joined Goodreads. I stumbled across this group today and thought I'd join :D
I read all kinda of books and set my goal for this year on Goodreads at 100 books, although it's actually 200 or something like that, but since I only joined Goodreads recently I don't have the maybe 100-smth books I already read this year on Goodreads, so 100 for the rest of the year will do ^^
Atm I'm working off my list of "books other people want me to read, so that I can tell them wether or not they are good", which includes lots of YA-novels.
Hobbies of mine (other than reading) include, playing the piano, drawing, gaming, watching anime and series and writing.
Pleased to meet you all \*o*/

I'm sure you'll catch up Michaela, now that you have joined the group. We're planning on buddy reading Dracula in October. You can always join the discussion even if you already read the book. The group reads are also pretty awesome. Or you can sign up for a twin read or any of the challenges this group has to offer. Either option is a great way to keep you on track of your reading goal. It sure has been for me! Good luck!

My name is Cara and here are three interesting things about me:
- I am a blogger. I write about travelling, volunteering and random things about me.
- I try to read every day (even if it's just a page). These days I'm into the Lost Generation (especially Hemingway). My goal is to read 25 books this year.
- I am moving to Finland in a month so I'll have to get to know some Finnish authors.
What about you? What's your story?

Recently moved from Israel to Canada, 16 year old, learning Russian, Spanish and Arabic and if any of you would like to recommend any books in one of these languages I'd love to :)

-My names is Isabel and I am from Spain living currently in London!
-I love specially mystery and chick lits novels but I like to read everything I just finished with The Lake House by Kate Morton and I am about to start The Murderer's daughter by Jonathan Kellerman
- My goal for 2017 would be to finish all the books that I have at home (which rounds probably the 50) Yes you can say I have a big obsession with books and although I always promise myself to not buy a book until I finish the ones I have, I end up buying a bunch of them every now and then.

In 2017 my goal is to read 12 books.

I'm kouk, 33 yrs old!
I found this group & it looks like a nice place to keep track of my challenges & to find new books to read! :)

Hi,
I'm from The Netherlands & i have a very diverse taste in books! :)
Lately it's mostly YA i'm the mood for!

Happy Reading!

I'm Katarina, highschool student from Croatia.
I've fallen in love with reading ten years ago and reading is one of my favourite hobbies since then.
I like to read various types of books, but during the last two years I prefer classics, especially gothic ones.
Some of my favourite books are Le Petit Prince, Poe's poems and short stories, Wuthering heights, The Phantom of the opera...
Also, a big fan of Tolkien.
My goal is to read 60 books in 2017. I`ll do my best. ;D

Oh I loved "The Phantom of the Opera" too. I read it in Dutch about 4 years ago. I should read the original some time.
How many books have you read so far?

My name's Alyssa, I'm 22 and from Canada. I've been on this site awhile and JUST realized that there are groups on here. My book goal is 30 this year, I'm at 12 so far.
I'm a huge Colleen Hoover fan but I've re-read most of her books already this year so I'm open to any suggestions as to what I should read next.
Thanks
-Alyssa :)

So glad to hear that. :)
I´m currently on 25 books. I was doing quite well until the summer started, then I got a bit lazy. :D But I think I will catch up again in the next two months.

I originally set a GR goal of 52 books, because I really wanted to read all the books for the Popsugar challenge. I was so excited to be back to reading that I read more books in January than I had read in all of 2016 combined! After doing the same in February, I upped my GR goal to 75 books. Then, after still reading so many books in March & April, I upped it to 100 books. I'm staying pretty close to that goal now (currently at 59 books read - I'm usually just a book or two ahead or behind), so I'm going to stick with the 100 books goal.
I also joined the Around the Year in 52 Books group, and we are currently making up our own challenge for 2018. I was looking for some new topic ideas to post as suggestions today, and actually came across a link to this group in the Google results for a search I did. Once I read through the group & some of the challengest, I decided to join. I will probably wait to participate in any challenges until September, so I have time to finish my Popsugar challenge, but I'm excited to read through the past challenges and prepare for new ones.
One question I have - does this group have a new group page every year? I see that it's called the 2017 Reading Challenge, so I didn't know if the name changes every year, or if there will be a new group to join for 2018, or what. Either way, I'm very excited to have found a new group to join & can't wait to participate soon. :)

I enjoy pretty much everything, but I love classics, fantasy, thrillers/mystery, some chick-lit and I've been introducing myself to historical and non-fiction. So far so good.
I joined this group because I've been working on the PopSugar challenge the whole year and I've learned some nice people through it. I'm thinking about picking up on another one but since I am starting late it has to be a not very challenging one.
Anyway, very nice to meet you all. This is a wonderful way to discover new books and discuss the ones we have read.

Welcome to the group Nicole!
The name of the group changes every year. Towards the end of this year it will become 2017 & 2018 Reading Challenge, and after New Year's it will be changed to 2018 Reading Challenge.

Hi Kristel, welcome to the group! We have plenty of challenges for you to join :) You're always free to pick the number of books that you want to read for each challenge, so you can just pick a smaller number if you're starting later. Good luck!

I have a lot of books on my Kindle and my goal is it to read 100 books this year, but till now I only have a reading goal of 75 because I'm studying and don't know if I can manage that many books.
It's really nice to meet you all :)

Sounds perfect! Thanks for the info. I am really excited to join this group, and I just picked out 25 books to read for the TBR Randomiser challenge between now & the end of the year. Well, I have 2 1/2 more books to read for my Popsugar Challenge, and then I'll get started on that one. Can't wait!

Just joined the group a few minutes ago. I'm from Norway, I'm 29 years old and my love for books ended up with me getting a Master's in English Lit. I really like fantasy and crime fiction novels, and at the moment my favorite authors are John Hart, Michael Connely, Neil Gaiman and David Baldacci. I've set my reading goal to 30 books this year; four down, just 26 to go! It'll be fun to get to know you all and hopefully have some fun discussions!

Best of luck with your reading goal.
Take a look around, we've got plenty of fun challenges and great buddy reads you might find interesting. This month's group read is A Man Called Ove if you would like to join the discussion for that :)
Please don't hesitate to let us know if you have any questions otherwise :)

Im participating in #TheReadingQuest which will be a real challange since, well, toddler and university. I also upped my GR reading goal from 30 to 40 just too push myself a little more

I tend to typically read Sci-fi, Fantasy, and Mystery novels along with various sub-genres of each. I found this group while searching for other groups and since my feed is pretty lonely I was looking to find active groups and people who can deal with my craziness. It also doesn't matter what book I'm reading, if I'm reading it on paper, all the characters are British. Don't ask me why. Although, I blame Shakespear, Harry Potter, and Sean Connery.
My reading goal for this year was originally 30 books and since I completed that relatively early in the year, it is now to simply clean off as many books from my TBR lists as possible. I reorganized my GR exclusive shelves and took all my books out of my to-read list and organized them by year added (so if you go to add me as a friend and you compare our books, you won't see any on the to-read shelf) so I can see which year had the heaviest add load. So far this year, I've read/listened to 92 books and I'm currently on #93. This doesn't include the few DNF. With the year half way over, I'm focusing on finishing up a bunch of series I have started so I don't carry them into the new year with me.

Most of the time I read YA, fantasy and historical but I really want to get into new genres like science fiction or thriller.
