Laura Hello! My name is Laura and I am from the midwest (currently living in Iowa). I have been a member of Goodreads for awhile but have never joined any groups. I am a teacher so reading is my life. I will read just about anything but always love a good thriller or mystery with some romance mixed in. My current goal is 50 books for 2017 and hope to fulfill most of that goal during my summer break!

Jasmine (xjasminex) Hey guys! My name is Jasmine, I'm from North Carolina, my favorite genre is most likely Young Adult Fiction and Science Fiction. I found your group by just trying to see what group was best for me and my reading goal is 20 books because I started late in the year. I hope to chat more with y'all in the future :).

Miriam (miriamabrams) | 4 comments Hi! I'm Miriam and I live in Massachusetts :) I'm a rising high school sophomore and I love reading more than anything else. Butterfly | 1 comments Hi everyone 😊 my name is Lydia I live in France. I love reading young adults books, books that combine thrill and romance 😆 I am such a bad reader though compared to what you gave some have read I look like a kindergartener !
I plan on getting better though. I put down 10 books by fall.... I know! it's a joke to most of you. but let's see if I can make it...
pleased to meet you all
xoxo

message 1214: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Grønsund | 6163 comments Hi Lydia, welcome to the group!
10 books is a great goal! I myself started the year out with a goal of 12 books :)

Keep in mind, reading is such a personal thing. Everyone has different amounts of time they are able to dedicate to their reading and we all read at different speeds.
The amount of books isn't that important. What really matters is that you're having fun reading! :)

message 1215: by Courtney (new)

Courtney (outlier) | 25 comments Hello everyone! My name is Courtney, and I'm from the natural state, Arkansas! Nice to meet you. I'm a twenty something with a desk job which involves a lot of reading/analyzing info, paper work and interviewing (which I honestly never imagined haha). That computer reading (all day) aspect of the job kind of made it hard for me to enjoy reading like I used to but now I'm re discovering it! I love all sorts of media/storytelling (movies, games, books), petting cute animals, spending time with friends/family, art, and cute stationary!!

I started my goodreads challenge this year (80), partially due to my collection of bargain bought books just being out of control, so I figured I should read what I've bought and if I like it but can part with it, I'll donate it so someone else can get the chance to enjoy it the way I did! I would love to sit down and actually review what I've read at some point so if you guys have any pointers that would be awesome.

When it comes to reading I don't think I have a particular genre that I'm just hardcore about. I've only recently really read any series(I went from one total to three/four this year!), I'm a sucker for a pretty cover (sorry) and mostly it's just a process of the first page or two grabbing my attention. I'll give just about anything a shot.

Sorry I'm late to the party , but I'll see y'all around (;

message 1216: by Susy (new)

Susy (susysstories) Welcome Courtney! Good luck with your goal and happy reading!

message 1217: by Lisa (last edited Jun 29, 2017 11:35PM) (new)

Lisa Grønsund | 6163 comments Welcome to the group Courtney :)

I'm the worst at doing reviews so unfortunately I'm no help in that department. But I recommend having a look around at other people's personal challenges. Many members do amazing reviews and have fantastic organizational skills on their threads you can draw inspiration from :)

Good luck with your reading goal!

message 1218: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Grønsund | 6163 comments Welcome Rachel! Nice to meet you.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with having a reading goal of 12 books! We read what our life schedule allows us to. Nobody here is passing judgement :)
Best of luck!

message 1219: by Jenna (new)

Jenna (abibliophobe27) | 1 comments My name is Jenna and I found the group because someone I follow liked something relating to the group or is part of the group. I looked into what the group had to offer and it seemed like something I would enjoy.

I love all types of books such as fantasy, historical fiction, literary fiction, some contemporary and some non-fiction memoirs and things like that. Really the only genre I don't like is romance. I am picky with my contemporary because a lot of those novels seem to focus on romance.

I am from the USA and my reading goal is 150 books. I had originally set it for 52 but I completed that earlier in the year (possibly in April) so I recently upped my goal. But, I am not super intent on finishing it. I more or less set it to see if I can get there by the end of the year but if I can't it won't be a big deal.

Susy (susysstories) Welcome Jenna! Good luck with your goal and happy reading!

message 1223: by Mayank (new)

Mayank Gupta (mayank98) Hi everyone! I'm Mayank from New Delhi, India. I like reading mystery novels and self help books. Actually I just bought a Kindle Paperwhite and thus I'm really excited to read books on my new kindle (a funny reason, eh?). I've never taken a book reading challenge before so wanted to give it a shot... guess I will be able to read atleast 10 books in this year. Let's see where my excitement takes me :)

message 1224: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Grønsund | 6163 comments Hi Mayank and welcome to the group!

Happy reading and good luck with your goal!

message 1225: by Anna (last edited Jul 03, 2017 01:56PM) (new)

Anna W Hello everyone! My name is Anna; I am from Anniston, AL. I love to read young adult contemporary/ fantasy and historical fiction. I am very open minded and will give almost anything a try.

I adore Goodreads and the sense of community I get from it. I love interacting with fellow readers; it helps me meet my challenges and keeps me from falling into those non-reading lulls I can be prone to when nothing strikes my interest. I have found many interesting groups, including this one, through the community tab on Goodreads.

My reading challenge this year is 50 books (it started much lower, and when I breezed past that I decided to set a new goal to meet.) Look forward to interacting with all of you!

message 1226: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Grønsund | 6163 comments Great goal Anna, and welcome to the group!

Best of luck and happy reading!

message 1228: by Ronyell (new)

Ronyell (rabbitearsblog) | 4 comments Hey everyone! I'm Ronyell and I've been a member of Goodreads since 2008 and ever since then, I have been an obsessive book reader!!

The kind of books I like to read are graphic novels, children's books, fantasy, horror and romance! I actually found this group through one of my Goodreads' friends profiles and I was pretty interested in joining this group since I love doing challenges!

For 2017, I hope to read 80 books, even though I tried to read 100 books a year for the previous years, but I'll try to reach 80 this year!

message 1229: by Susy (new)

You've definitely found the right place for challenges. Have a look around and feel free to join any of the ones that suit your fancy :)

Good luck with your reading challenge!

message 1232: by Racheal (new)

Racheal | 7 comments Hello everyone! :)

My name is Racheal. Now that my life is slowing down a bit, I can get back into reading. I started out with a goal of reading 17 books this year, but I have already completed that goal and moved it to 35 books before the year is up.

I don't think I have a specific genre I read; it just depends on what I am in the mood for. I've read things from historical, biographies, romance, crime, psychological thriller, mystery, chick flick, self-help, religion, and young adult (to name a few).

I found this group while I was surfing through GoodReads. Just looking for a group to connect with that has the same passion for reading as I do.

message 1234: by Himani (new)

Himani | 1 comments hello everyone!
I'm Himani and I'm from New Delhi, India. I love reading urban fantasy, Paranormal romance and about anything that's impossible to happen in real life.
I read alot and lately it's been hard to find something really good, thought joining this group could help open my eyes to new things.
i hope everyone is enjoying their day.
Happy reading!

message 1235: by Susy (new)

Susy (susysstories) Welcome Himani! I'm sure you'll get lots of ideas for great books in this group. I surely have (although it remains to be seen if I like them as much as my fellow Goodreaders of course). Good luck!

message 1236: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Hi, I'm Elizabeth from sunny Sydney. My goal is to read a book a week this year. This is a bit ambitious for me because I am a slow reader, but this year I am making a big effort to meet my challenge goal. I am a fiction writer, which gives me an added incentive to read and lessens my guilt when it comes to reading for pleasure! I like fantasy and beautifully written YA but I also enjoy classics, too. And I am also always on the hunt for books that make me laugh.

message 1237: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Grønsund | 6163 comments Welcome to the group, Racheal, Himani, and Elizabeth!

Literaturelover | 1 comments Hi everyone! My name is Lucy and I'm aiming to read 20 more books before the end of the year - I haven't counted so far but I saw this group and it looked like a great challenge! I'm from London and love almost all genres of fiction, but would like to get into some non-fiction and maybe start reading some plays also. I just read We Need to Talk about Kevin and it's one of those books I can tell will stay with me for a long time. Happy reading to everyone ! :)

message 1241: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Grønsund | 6163 comments Welcome Lucy!
I hope you do better at including non-fiction into your reading, than me had so far :D
Best of luck with your challenge! :)

message 1244: by Alexandra (last edited Jul 07, 2017 07:49PM) (new)

Alexandra Hello! My name is Alex and I am from Scotland. My favourite books are historical fiction (particularly if it involves time travel) and mystery. I actually joined the reading challenge a few years ago when I first made my goodreads account. My reading goal is just 20, but I hope I can read more.

message 1245: by Susy (new)

Susy (susysstories) Welcome Alex! I think joining this group will definitely help you reaching and maybe surpassing your goal, I know it did so for me! Are you planning on joining any of the challenges or buddy/group reads? Anyways, good luck with your goal and happy reading!

message 1246: by Kendall (new)

Kendall | 1 comments Hi! I'm Kendall, and I live in Oklahoma. I didn't even know goodreads had these book groups until today! My favorite types of books are historical fiction and young adult. I especially love books that allow me to learn about different cultures. I prefer books written about women. One of my favorite authors is Lisa See, every book I have read by her has effectively torn me to pieces in the best way possible! My 2017 challenge goal is 24 books, but if I continue reading at the rate I have been lately I will likely exceed that. However, I don't want to read just to say that I've done it, for me reading is truly a pleasure and my favorite pastime. I'm currently reading the His Fair Assassin series by Robin Lafevers. I just finished the second book and have the third waiting on me!

message 1247: by Bo (new)

Bo | 3 comments Hi I'm Nia and I just found this group yesterday. I mostly read YA and fantasy but if there is a book that I like that is not of that genre I'll still read it. I want to read a minimum of 30 books this year.
