I read pretty varied as well, but I'm not much for romance, chic-lit or cozy mysteries and the sort. I tend to reach for fantasy and thrillers. Like everything in life, it really depends on my mood :)
@ Lisa,, In my opinion , instead of being much for romance,,,, etc,,, be inclination to reality based books

I'm not sure what you meant. I do not read romance at all, for a number of reasons. (Not if I can help it anyways)
Feel free to suggest something you would define as "reality based books" and I'll check it out. I'm always open to recommendations :)

Riyas wrote: "i think you love historical fiction books.. Academically , I am a socia..."Yess, you're right. Historical Fiction is my favourite genre, which I should definitely read more often! What are your favourite time periods to read about? I most often read books set in the 18th century or WWII.

Hi there. I'm Stacy and I used to be a reader. I am new to goodreads and this group, so I need a minute to sort out what my specific goals are, but I hope to have fun and enjoy reading again.

Hii! I'm Marie. I have discovered Goodreads a while ago, in the ending of 2016. My goal is to read 50 books and I am sooo behind. School really took all my time, but since summer is almost here, I plan on reading a lot!

 Hey everybody!!
Hey everybody!!I am not new to the 2017 book challenge but I am new to the group. I am Amber and I luv me some books!!:) I originally put my goal to read 20 books this year but it is only June and I was just a couple of books shy of my yearly goal already. I also just so happened to find a new series that has 27 books and I have devoured the first 7 in about 7 days so I upped it to 50! I do have a question for the group. When I am unable to read, I am listening to an audiobook when I am driving. I prefer to read a book and if I love the series, I will often listen to them audio again. I do have a question about that. I am reading a series right now but I am also listening to another favorite series of mine on audio when I can't read. Would adding these to my 2017 reading list be considered cheating if I added them? I would love to hear your thoughts on this. I would also love any recommendations of good series from the urban fantasy genre as well.

I am going to go ahead and give you four of my favorite series from my favorite genre of urban fantasy and I would love to hear if you have read any of them.
1. The Hollows series by Kim Harrison
2. The Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris
3. The Hot Damn series by Robyn Peterman
4. The Girl in the Box by Robert J. Crane
I would love to know if you have read any of them and would love some recommendations in return. Please feel free to ask me any questions about the books listed above as well. ;)

Hi everyone! I'm a little late on posting this introduction (and for that I apologize) but I'm super excited to have become a part of this group and to hopefully interact with all of you! :) My name is Briana and I am from Brooklyn, New York. I am generally open to and enjoy all genres, but I have a greater inclination towards Sci-fi and historical fiction. This group was recommended to me and I thought it seemed a great and very encouraging environment to be a part of as we all set off on our individual reading goals! My reading goal for 2017 is 15 books, but I'm hoping to go beyond that!

Hello everyone :) I'm Federica and I'm writing from italy. I've found the group some time ago, and I thought about joying to find some support in my personal goal. Thanks to uni, I've left very little time to read and the challenge is a way to set myself back into reading :)

Thanks to uni, I've left very little time to read and the challenge is a way to set myself back into reading :) Anyway, I don't have a favourite genre and I can read almost everything, fiction and non fiction, as long as I like the writing and I'm engaged with the topic.
Nice to meet you all!

Hi! I'm Megan from the UK. I love to read anything I can get my hands on - action, classic, fantasy, you name it. I don't really limit myself except in money terms - Young Adult/Teen fiction costs MUCH less than classical fiction. I am hoping to complete my goal of 150 books this year and it would be great to share my journey with you guys!

Hello everyone! My name is Andreea and I am from Romania, Ploiesti actually. I've joined this site a year ago, I guess, but I didn't try it out until now. That's why I am really new. I want to read more but I want book recommandations, without spoilers, of course. I just love romance books but I don't say no to a fantasy book. Right now I am trying so hard to finish a book but it is so hard. I don't know why but I just can't read more than some pages..
Anyway, I am glad to be here and talk to you guys.
Hi everyone! I love to write AND read in between a whole lot of other things! So I end up with pretty full hands!! Either way, I'm aiming for at least a book a month (for starters. I'd probably end up doing more).

Welcome Andreea! I'm sure you'll get lots of recommendations. My TBR list has grown exponentially since I've been on GR. Good luck on your book. Once in a while we get a book that's just hard getting in to. Which one is it?

Hi guys! My name is Izzy and I hail from the East Coast. (Not allowed to say where. Ooo, mystery!) My favorite types of books are YA contemporary and fantasy, although lately I haven't been reading much fantasy. I found this group through a friend. When I saw that she was doing a bunch of challenges from this group, I thought it would be fun to join as well. My reading goal for this year is 100 books, and at this point I have no idea if I'll make it or not.

Greetings from Houston, Texas! I'm Katya, and I'm giddy to be here. I joined about a week ago, and up until now have simply been enjoying - and gaining inspiration from! - everyone's personal challenges. My personal challenge this year started relatively small (but not for me!): 20 books. I met that goal last week, and I've now upped it to 35. (Insert something about "baby steps.") Historically, I've enjoyed essays and short non-fiction. Reference, really. But I've recently "discovered" literary novels and micro-histories, and have found myself absolutely loving them. My favorite books of the year thus far, among many wonderful ones, are Lincoln in the Bardo (Saunders) and The Heart (de Kerangal). Other than that, I'm a decent photographer, a terrible speller and a lover of all things compassionate. Happy reading, everyone!

Hi everybody! I am Ozlem from Istanbul, Turkey. I am a new member of this community and I was a dedicated reader since my childhood. But I wasn't reading much recently. Goodreads is a new motivation to me and I am planning to read 10 books in 2017. It is not much but I wanted a reachable goal for the beginning.
