Jessica Payne | 31 comments Hello everyone, my name is Jessica. I'm from so cal. I am a college student, I am double majoring in cinema and English. My goal this year is to read 10 books (outside of college assignments). I am at 7 right now. So this goal will definitely be met. I plan on accomplishing this goal before summer. But mid summer I am going to be having a big move and am unsure of my free time. So after my move I hope to set a new goal once I adjust.
I'm very happy to be apart of this group and I am excited to meet new ppl. I'm always looking for new recommendations! I am looking to expand my knowledge on the classics (new and old). I'm also looking into expanding on poetry, I'm definitely a novice in the poetry field though, so please if you suggestions keep that one it mind too! Thank you!!!

Christina (maybaby88) | 128 comments Hi,
My name is Christina and I am a big bookworm who has a to be read pile that just keeps getting bigger. I have been a member for years and this is the first group I have joined.

I have set a goal of 15 books for 2017. Hoping that joining this group will give me the little extra push needed to achieve that goal. I am currently in the middle of my second book of the year Career of Evil.

I don't really have a favorite type of book I read fiction, memoir, biography/autobiography,history, fantasy and mystery . I basically love it all.

It's nice to be here !

message 862: by Timmy (new)

Timmy | 1 comments Hey everyone :) My name is Timmy- I was born and raised on Long Island and loved to Maryland when I was 19. I've had a strong relationship with books since I was a kid. The past year, though, has completely brought about new genres and stories than ever before. I especially love historical fiction but also enjoy those that take place in the south, fantasy and contemporary. I usually go to good will at least twice a week and usually pick up a book or two each time. You'll always find at least two books in my backpack and a million in each room of my apartment.

Halle Williams (hallelawson) | 5 comments Hello! I'm new here and have just found the group. I was a big fan of goodreads back when I was in high school, but my interest slowly faded. This year I've picked back up on reading and remembered this wonderful website!
I live in the US, Georgia to be specific.
I like to read non-fiction books, leaning heavily towards fantasy/magic.
I found this group by simply browsing the groups on goodreads. This one just happened to catch my attention.
My reading goal is to read 50 books this year. I am hoping to surpass that.

And I will pick up a historical from time to time. I would love some suggestions for books to read. Go check out my page for more of my favorites!

message 873: by Jeanette (new)

Jeanette Firlings | 1 comments Hello all! I'm Jeanette from Denmark. I just recently discovered Goodreads when I was looking for inspiration for new books to read - although I have a huge pile of books on my nightstand waiting to be read.
I'm really not picky when it comes to genres - I'll read anything really. I'm currently reading 3 books. I like to switch genres every couple of days. I'm currently reading the Beautiful Creatures series, Night Music by Jojo Moyes and Mischling by Affinity Konar.
I'm planning on reading about 30 books this year as my personal challenge. I look forward to reading about the books you are reading and maybe being inspired to read some of them myself.

My name is Maya, I'm 30 years old, wife, mother of 5 kids, live in illinois and clearly I love reading!
I enjoy nonfiction and memoirs but have recently been getting into a lot of fiction. My reading goal last year was 50 books in the year and I met that goal and actually read more than that. This year my goal is 100 books in the year!

message 877: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Becker (victoriabecker) | 4 comments My name is Victoria and I live in Washington state in the U.S. I'm a college student studying community health and I've loved reading for as long as I can remember. There is a lot of mandatory reading in college, and because of that I had fallen away from reading for pleasure. I decided to change that this year by making a goal of reading 12 books. Now that I've started I just can't stop! It's the end of March and I'm already 8 books in and considering doubling my goal.

I don't really have a number goal of how many books I want to read but I currently have two (smallish) shelves full with books that I really want to get through. (Yet I keep buying more because Barnes and Noble is one of my favorite places to go).

I am excited to get started and be able to talk with everyone about the books we read. Since we are at the end of March I will get started with the April book soon!

message 885: by Susy (new)

Susy (susysstories) Hi, my name is Susy and I'm from Holland (roots in Portugal). I've been searching for a group to keep me motivated to reach my reading goal. Just typed "group" and read a LOT of group descriptions. This group seemed a best fit.

I used to read quite a lot but then stuff happened and I stopped reading altogether. So not long ago I started reading again but often find myself too tired to read or just not in the mood. I do remember how much I enjoyed reading and I long to feel that again.

I started out with a goal which I thought would be definitely possible to attain so as to not get demotivated. I'm almost embarrassed to say after reading all of your posts but my goal for 2017 is just 12 books....1 a month, surely I will be able to reach that goal, right??

I like most genres, do have a preference for fiction though, so I can just lose myself in the story. I just LOVE it when a book can make me forget where I am, who I am and everything else in this world and I just 'disappear' into the story being told.

Well, I guess it's time for some reading ;)

Susy

message 886: by Alison (new)

Alison | 1 comments Hey yall my name is Alison. I reside in Ohio. I honestly don't read that much but if somebody recommends something and I do the research and like it then I'll read it. My goal for 2017 is to read 15 books since I don't read that much but hope to go beyond that. Just need to keep the motivation going. Starting out I am reading Women Who Run With the Wolves. Thanks for having me!

message 887: by Dana (new)

Dana Still | 2 comments Hello everyone! My name is Dana, I am from Hastings Nebraska. I work as a Library Assistant since 2008 and love it! I generally read YA Fiction and Non-Fiction. I decided to join a group on goodreads to expand my horizons. My goal in 2017 is 17 non-text books, which is going to be difficult, I am a part-time student a full-time single mom, and a full-time library assistant. Not much time for personal reading.

Hi Amber!! I have really been loving psychological thrillers lately (Gone Girl, The Girl on a Train, What she knew, etc.) I am really into books that are made into movies because I love comparing how I pictured things in the novel to how the movie portrays them. I would LOVE any book suggestions you have of any genre!

Hello Aga!! I am in love with the Anne of Green Gables series too...I have read three books so far and am desperately trying to get my hands on the remaining books. I always though Mr. Darcy was the perfect leading man but ever since I read AOGG I think Gilbert Blythe has the qualities to give Mr. Darcy a tough competition :D

message 900: by Nicky (last edited Mar 27, 2017 04:01PM) (new)

Nicky (woosha) | 55 comments Hi all, I'm Nicky and I'm from Belgium. I signed up for this group back at the start of the year but hadn't introduced myself yet, felt a little daunting to introduce myself to such a big group of avid readers after having neglected my reading for quite some time.

Ever since I was little I could always be found reading some book or another and with all the hustle and bustle of daily life after graduating from uni a couple of years ago I seemed to have lost the time to read, luckily I came to my senses (and to goodreads ;-) ) and I've rekindled my old love for books.

I like reading all kinds of books from YA, over mysteries to fantasy. Often I'd choose a book just for its cover regardless of the genre and I love to catch up on some literary classics as well.

My goal this year is a modest 12 books, which I'll probably have to edit rather soon as I've already read 6...

I'd love to try my hand at some challenges as well like the POPsugar challenge and the one run by Modern Mrs. Darcy, so we'll see how that works out this year.
