Emma (aellae) | 12 comments Hello! I'm Emma from Maryland. This is the first group I'm joining on Goodreads (though I've been on here a while) Found it just through browsing groups with reading challenges. :)

Rediscovering my love of reading since I stopped reading so often at some point in high school. I've since started loving reading again, and occasionally writing too! My goal this year is 40 books, and my favorite genres are fantasy, urban fantasy, paranormal, and some sci fi.

Simonne Robinson | 1 comments Hi fellow book dragons!
My name is Simonne, I'm from a little town in South Africa called Vanderbijlpark. I love fantasy novels! but have been branching out quite a bit in the past year or so, trying to read the classics. Have fallen in love with Pride and Prejudice, even though I'm not big on romance novels. I kinda just stumbled onto this group and... I want to read 60 books this year. :D

My name is Sahvanna I'm from Australia :)

I'm quite new to Goodreads - in saying that I absolutely love it!! (How could you not?!) I don't have many connections and thought I'll come here to join a group!

My favourite genre is crime/thriller. I love a good suspense! I do also love old literature.
My goal is to read 50 books this year, I'm open to all genres and would like to expand my horizons in the rabbit hole of words <3

message 712: by Gio Albert (new)

Gio Albert (ravenshade) | 4 comments Hi everyone!! I'm Gio Albert, and I came from the Philippines :) I have been a reader ever since I had a reading challenge from my roommate on the Percy Jackson series. Sometimes, I'm a fast reader, yet I have a hard time balancing my time on reading and other activities since I am still a college student, an engineering student at most! I LOVE reading fantasy, urban fiction, action with a little bit of romance (not overpowering) on the YA and Adult section. I'm setting a goal of reading 20 books (if not hindered by exams and projects T.T) Have a nice day to you all!!!

message 713: by Robert Max (new)

Robert Max Steenkist (robertmax) Hey everyone

Im from Bogotá, Colombia. I have enjoyed Goodreads very much so far, also as a librarian. I had the chance to add many of my favorite books to the platform, as there was not much of Latin American publishing houses when I started.

I also took the step and created my own profile as an author. I have been very bad at self promoting because of my almost clinical grade of shyness but that has cost me to be a little bit behind (at least in comparison to other writers of my generation).

So yeah, I write a lot ( the goal is to finish three books this year) but, in order to do so in a more or less decent way, I also read "a lot": 200 books for this year.

Non fiction, poetry, graphic novels, books for kids (I have a three year old son).

Salud a todos.

message 714: by Nikki (new)

Nikki (nikkir1072) | 1 comments Hi there. My name is Nikki and I live in Florida in the US. Reading is one of my absolute favorite things to do. I love that it takes me away from my everyday life and puts me into someone else's. I love all genre of books, especially fiction and paranormal. I have a beautiful 9 year old (soon to be 10) who is also a reader, but would love for her to read a little more. I have been married to my husband for 11 years this May. He is NOT a reader (aarrggh), so he doesn't understand how I can read much. Lol.

I am really looking forward to reading more this year. Life gets away from you so quickly and before you know it, you haven't read a book all year. I'm hoping this group will me motivated to spend my downtime (what little I have) reading more.

Have a great day!!!!

message 722: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (aretherea) Hello,
This is Lisa from Little Rock Arkansas. I usually tend to read mysteries and nonfiction with occasional forays into other genres. I've been a Bookcrosser since 2003.
I found the group by being very curious about groups on Goodreads:)
My reading goal is 52 books, but I'm thinking of changing. I just realized that I read 62 books last year and I've already read 7 so far this year.

message 723: by B (new)

B | 1 comments Hey there, I'm Brigitte from Jersey. I found this group going through the PopSugar challenge (which I am attempting for the 3rd year running). Never actually finished, but I'm going hard on this year. I mainly read fantasy (urban more than high), sci-fi, steampunk, murder mysteries, and historical non-fiction.

The goal this year is for the most recent PopSugar list including the 'Bonus' which is a total of 52, plus any sequels to the books I read. I've 8 read and 3 in progress so far.

message 726: by Vicki (new)

Vicki Johnson | 81 comments Hi. My name is Vicki and I currently live in the San Francisco Bay Area. I joined Goodreads about a year and a half ago. I was looking for a reading challenge or two to help broaden my reading horizons. I am always looking for new authors and then will read everything of theirs that I can get my hands on. I am a natural speed readers so I would have a very expensive habit if I didn't have such a great county library system to draw on.

In 2017, my reading goal is 180 books. I love to read mysteries, thrillers, science fiction, and horror. However, I just like to read anything that is well written.

Lisa Smith | 1 comments Good evening. I'm Lisa from Dayton, Ohio. I have just joined my first bookclub but that's just to get me out of my mass media comfort zone. I knew I needed to start reading other things besides James Patterson. Now I'll just listen to James Patterson on my commute! HA I just finish the book The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton and I'm going to start All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr tomorrow. I'm excited about broadening my horizons with some great books.

message 730: by Rona (new)

Rona (rojeru) | 1 comments Hello~ I'm Rona from the Philippines. I am an artist and I love to read fantasy books because they feed my imagination the most. Fantasy books just get my creative juice flowing when it comes to making artworks. That doesn't mean I only read fantasy though; I occasionally read other genres as well like plain old romance, sci-fi, mystery and reference books (art and mythology mostly). I found this group by browsing goodreads group section.

My goal for this year is to read 52 books or more. I've never tried this before. Wish me luck! XD

Penny wrote: "I have a question: Is there a way to mark books you have read but listened to them on CD?"

If you are on the page of the book, you can go to "other editions" by dragging you mouse over the cover of the book. You can then choose Format: Audio CD.

message 734: by Megan (new)

Megan Baker (meganbaker5) Hey guys! I'm new here and wanted to say hi!
I love all types of books- young adult, suspense, chick-lit, all sorts of stuff! I love a good book that makes you cry, and I love an easy read to get you through after a series you just finished and you need a "brain break"! I love finding new books and that's how I found this group!
I'm from North Carolina and have challenged myself to read 60 books this year. I hope I can finish it!! Ha!

message 736: by Wren (last edited Feb 13, 2017 04:19AM) (new)

Wren Lazarus | 1 comments Guten Nachmittag! I'm Wren, a British bookworm from a small industrial borough in Yorkshire. (My town is built upon a Roman army settlement which was called Lagentium, Anglo-Saxon roundhouses and one of Oliver Cromwell's secret encampments!)

I don't necessarily have a specific favourite, in terms of genre. However, I do find phantasmal novels and historically fictitious novels great. I'm also intrigued by Classic novels, and I am currently trying to get into them. Either it be Fantasy, Historical Romance, Adventure, Classics, Science Fiction, Historical, YA, Horror.. If it's good.. I'll read it!

My goodreads goal is to read 24+ books this year! Last year I managed 12. I want to push myself this year, because for a couple of years I fell behind on my reading and either rarely read or didn't read at all. (Before that I was a young bookworm who devoured a novel a night!).

message 737: by Jacqueline (last edited Feb 13, 2017 06:12AM) (new)

Jacqueline (jacqueliner94) | 136 comments Hi everyone! I'm Jaci and I'm from Texas. I've loved reading since I was younger, but it was really Twilight and The Hunger Games that got me into it in my teens. I love YA and Fanstasy novels, as well as some others, but these are the ones that really grab my attention.

I suffer with major depression and anxiety, and reading really helps me to cope with my mental illness. I love that I can escape my reality and live in a whole different world.

My reading goal for this year is to read 15,000 pages and at least 35 books. Hopefully I'll read way more than that. I have so many books that I own on my bookshelf and on my Kindle that I want to read.

message 739: by Aubrey (new)

Aubrey Copper | 2 comments Hi everyone! I'm Aubrey and I'm from Iowa. I have always loved reading, and I will read just about anything. I am reading a lot of young adult novels for a class. I am also into crime and suspense novels at the moment. I teach, so I don't have a lot of time to read for pleasure. My goal this year is to read 30 books. I am hoping that being in this group will help motivate me to find the time to read! And more than children's books to my kid :)

message 740: by Ellie (new)

Ellie Dyer | 8 comments Hi, I'm Ellie, and I'm from the UK. I tend to read pretty much anything that catches my fancy, but at the moment, I'm trying to get through a lot of books that I feel it's really important to read (for example, right now I'm reading Pride and Prejudice). My aim for this year is 30 books. It was 45, but after taking over a month to read my first book of 2017, I found 45 a little unrealistic.

message 741: by Burrela (new)

Burrela Hello!!
I'm Susan and I am from Spain.
My goal is 20 books. I like science fiction and historical fiction, I would like to read more classics books.
I'm new in this social network and this group suggested me.

message 743: by Dioanna (new)

Dioanna | 4 comments Hello Everyone! I love to read and learn about the world. This group looked quite diverse, and it caught my eye with "2017 challenge". I'm all for challenges.

What I love about reading is how vast it is. When you dive into a book and see another existence, your world expands and most of the time it takes your breath away. Sometimes you might end up hating a book but that's all part of the experience. A book has its own life. The people in the book become your friends or enemies. Sometimes after reading a book, I walk around still seeing the scenes from it.

My love for books of any kind led me here to meet all of you.
My name is Dioanna, I'm from the Philippines. I'm glad to be part of a group that challenges us to do more of the things we love.
It's nice to meet you all!

I've challenged myself for 70 books this 2017. I wish us all the best!
