Introduce Yourself to the Group - 2017!

My name is Simonne, I'm from a little town in South Africa called Vanderbijlpark. I love fantasy novels! but have been branching out quite a bit in the past year or so, trying to read the classics. Have fallen in love with Pride and Prejudice, even though I'm not big on romance novels. I kinda just stumbled onto this group and... I want to read 60 books this year. :D

My name is Sahvanna I'm from Australia :)
I'm quite new to Goodreads - in saying that I absolutely love it!! (How could you not?!) I don't have many connections and thought I'll come here to join a group!
My favourite genre is crime/thriller. I love a good suspense! I do also love old literature.
My goal is to read 50 books this year, I'm open to all genres and would like to expand my horizons in the rabbit hole of words <3

I discovered goodreads last spring and I fall in love with it. I joined this group so I can add some diversity to my reading.
My favorite genres are mystery and thriller and I set up a goal this year to read 26 books.

Aaj kal reading quite a few books at once...'Five Children and It' by E. Nesbit, 'The Camelot Code' by Sam Christer', 'Vanity Fair (which is quite a huge book to cover)' are just a few to mention....

I am open to any genre..the book just has to hold my interest but my favourite genres are historical fiction, classics, romance, mystery, psychological thrillers....

Im from Bogotá, Colombia. I have enjoyed Goodreads very much so far, also as a librarian. I had the chance to add many of my favorite books to the platform, as there was not much of Latin American publishing houses when I started.
I also took the step and created my own profile as an author. I have been very bad at self promoting because of my almost clinical grade of shyness but that has cost me to be a little bit behind (at least in comparison to other writers of my generation).
So yeah, I write a lot ( the goal is to finish three books this year) but, in order to do so in a more or less decent way, I also read "a lot": 200 books for this year.
Non fiction, poetry, graphic novels, books for kids (I have a three year old son).
Salud a todos.

I am really looking forward to reading more this year. Life gets away from you so quickly and before you know it, you haven't read a book all year. I'm hoping this group will me motivated to spend my downtime (what little I have) reading more.
Have a great day!!!!

Welcome I too am trying to reconnect with reading and break my addiction to Netflix and TV in general.

Welcome! I also set a goal of 12 books to reconnect back with reading!

I gave up TV about 4 years ago, to reconnect with reading. Started a bookclub here locally, which is going great. Looking for more challenges so I joined here. Now my mom has moved in with me, who is addicted to tv. big sigh!!!. Welcome everyone

I like to recommend tow books by female authors I read some years ago:
Curott, Phyllis title maybe: In The Name of The Great Goddess
Leek, Sybil Diary of a Witch, New York
I read both while working in Germany, and in German.
Does anyone know these books?
Have a nice weekend

This is Lisa from Little Rock Arkansas. I usually tend to read mysteries and nonfiction with occasional forays into other genres. I've been a Bookcrosser since 2003.
I found the group by being very curious about groups on Goodreads:)
My reading goal is 52 books, but I'm thinking of changing. I just realized that I read 62 books last year and I've already read 7 so far this year.

The goal this year is for the most recent PopSugar list including the 'Bonus' which is a total of 52, plus any sequels to the books I read. I've 8 read and 3 in progress so far.

I am very excited to get to know all of you and to share our love of reading.

In 2017, my reading goal is 180 books. I love to read mysteries, thrillers, science fiction, and horror. However, I just like to read anything that is well written.

My goal for this year is to read 52 books or more. I've never tried this before. Wish me luck! XD

If you are on the page of the book, you can go to "other editions" by dragging you mouse over the cover of the book. You can then choose Format: Audio CD.

I love all types of books- young adult, suspense, chick-lit, all sorts of stuff! I love a good book that makes you cry, and I love an easy read to get you through after a series you just finished and you need a "brain break"! I love finding new books and that's how I found this group!
I'm from North Carolina and have challenged myself to read 60 books this year. I hope I can finish it!! Ha!

I don't necessarily have a specific favourite, in terms of genre. However, I do find phantasmal novels and historically fictitious novels great. I'm also intrigued by Classic novels, and I am currently trying to get into them. Either it be Fantasy, Historical Romance, Adventure, Classics, Science Fiction, Historical, YA, Horror.. If it's good.. I'll read it!
My goodreads goal is to read 24+ books this year! Last year I managed 12. I want to push myself this year, because for a couple of years I fell behind on my reading and either rarely read or didn't read at all. (Before that I was a young bookworm who devoured a novel a night!).

I suffer with major depression and anxiety, and reading really helps me to cope with my mental illness. I love that I can escape my reality and live in a whole different world.
My reading goal for this year is to read 15,000 pages and at least 35 books. Hopefully I'll read way more than that. I have so many books that I own on my bookshelf and on my Kindle that I want to read.

I'm Susan and I am from Spain.
My goal is 20 books. I like science fiction and historical fiction, I would like to read more classics books.
I'm new in this social network and this group suggested me.

What I love about reading is how vast it is. When you dive into a book and see another existence, your world expands and most of the time it takes your breath away. Sometimes you might end up hating a book but that's all part of the experience. A book has its own life. The people in the book become your friends or enemies. Sometimes after reading a book, I walk around still seeing the scenes from it.
My love for books of any kind led me here to meet all of you.
My name is Dioanna, I'm from the Philippines. I'm glad to be part of a group that challenges us to do more of the things we love.
It's nice to meet you all!
I've challenged myself for 70 books this 2017. I wish us all the best!

60 books that is a challenge and all the best!! :) I would like to read that many books myself but I am a pretty slow reader because I really like to experience what I am reading in my mind...you know like a movie I am watching in my head...

Rediscovering my love of reading since I stopped reading so often at some point in high school. I've since started loving reading again, and occasionally writing too! My goal this year is 40 books, and my favorite genres are fantasy, urban fantasy, paranormal, and some sci fi.
