Introduce Yourself to the Group - 2017!

I am 30 years young and I live in Columbus, Ohio. I am happily married and we have a fur kid named Pepper. She is a Chiweenie... for those of you who may not know it is a cross between a Chihuahua and a Dachshund. I am a BIG animal lover! I am also very close with my family.
I am looking for friends to share this reading journey on... I find that challenges are helpful because they make me pick up a book I want to read and stick with that book... that way I can finally start reading again - I miss it SO much.
Feel free to add me as your friend :)

Once again, welcome all!

Last year I completed my challenge of 50 books so I thought I would try to beat that this year: hopefully I'll read 60 books this year! Looking forward to reading and hopefully completing my challenge together with you all :)

Indiana
- What kinds of books do you like to read?
all sorts, but my favorites are YA, poetry, fiction, and non-fiction
- How did you find our group?
I joined the reading challenge.
- What's your reading goal?
100 books for 2017, but I'm already at 42 read so I might have to increase my goal.

I just finished reading number 2 for this year - so 2/50. The Sleeping Beauty Killer by Mary Higgins Clark. Great book.

I mainly read fiction but occasionally will read authors like Bill Bryson. If I'm after a book I can get through fast I'll grab a crime/mystery novel.
This is the second year I'm attempting to read twenty books. Last year I JUST made it, I mean I finished the twentieth book on 31st December.
I found this group as I was exploring the site and thought it would be a great place to pick up some suggestions as to what to ready next.

Already at 42 this month?! That is impressive. How do you get so much reading done? Any tips?

My names is Erica and I'm from the (very small) Kingdom of Denmark. Nice to meet you!
According to my profile I've been on Goodreads since 2014, but I actually joined in '12 with another account, I later forgot all about. I started discovering my love for books at that time and stumbled upon Goodreads one boring Maths class, while in my own little world.
I read almost anything. I love trying to read new genres and so on. I do have a soft spot for YA, mystery, fantasy and romantic comedies.
My 2017 reading goal is to read 70 books. I try to push myself to find the time to read a little more each year. Last year it was 60 books and the year before it was 20. I hope I'll be able to complete it this year as well.

If you don't know where to start, feel free to answer these questions:
- Where are you ..."
Hello, World...!!!
Myself Omkar. And I am from India.
The reason as to why I joined this group is because I want to develop myself as a reader. I want to go beyond my personal limits.
I am hoping that you guys would help me in discovering and developing a new taste towards reading.
Glad to be here.

I understand your conflict! I crochet a lot but I try to read more! My goal is 50 books for this year. Not starting well - only two books read so far!

The first one I read this year is "Rodeo Rescuer" by Lynette Eason.
I read a variety of books, suspense, romance and mysteries and some non-fiction.

My name is Natalie and I'm from the Chicago area but am currently going to school in California. I like a wide variety of books but my favorites are thrillers and suspense novels. I joined this group because last year, I did not meet my goal by a long shot whereas in 2015, I was so proud of my success and I was hoping that joining this group would increase my motivation. This year, my goal is to read 30 books and to possibly read books that I would normally not be inclined to read. I am currently reading a book that was gifted to me, Dorothy Must Die, and recently finished reading Ten Thousand Skies Above You.

I've created a new "to read" list recently, and am challenging myself to read more of the classics. My teenage son read 1984 last year and declared it one of his favorite books of all time. He begged me to read it so that he could discuss it with me. I was pretty sure that I had read it in high school at one point but I could not remember a thing about it. I took the time to read it and comprehend it and I really enjoyed it. This got me to thinking that there are probably a lot of classics out there that I drudged through in high school and college and never really took the time to understand fully, hence the ambitious reading list.

Hi Kelli: I am also from CA (Chico). I had to smile when I read you wanted to start reading some of the classics. Just today I was looking at a list I have of 100 top classics and thought I need to read one of those! Glad someone else is thinking the same way!

I'm hoping being in a group will encourage me!

My name is Minal and I am from India.
I love reading - almost everything from sci-fi, thrillers to autobiographies...
While I have not been spending much time on reading recently, this year decided to enter the challenge that would encourage me to read more....
(Inspired by my colleague whose 2016 challenge was 50 books. I plan to start with a goal of 15 for 2017)

I found this group while looking for a group which is hip and fun and has no particular pre-decided set of book types or goals to read for the year. That's how I stumbled upon 2017 Reading Challenge group, open and fun. Love it so far.
My goal for 2017 is just 36 books. I intend to re-read a few books that I love.
I wish you all luck with your goals and have lots of fun guys & girls. :) See you.

It's nice to meet you Lacy! 200 books a great goal! I can remember nights of studying on 3rd shift, reading novels overnight is a great idea! Funny that you mentioned Harry Potter. I'm kicking off a marathon tonight. More of a Gryffindor kinda gal! I wish you the best of luck in reaching your reading goal and I hope you get to experience some of other genres that pique your interest!
Happy reading!

My (user)name is Kiwi. I'm from Singapore but I like to speak Japanese. I stumbled upon this group as I was trying to find a group that can help me for my 2017 reading challenge as I'm not sure I can finish my challenge this year eventhough I completed my challenge last year. (2016: 50 books, 2017: 60 books) I love to read books about dragons, animals, fictions, magic and whatever topic that is related to fantasy! My favourite book so far is Dragon Racer written by Margaret Bateson-Hill. Her books are awesome and totelly my type. I REALLY can't wait for the third series, "The silver flame". My second favorite will be (almost all) the books written by E.D. Baker. I found out about her books when my mother introduced the book, "the fairytale matchmaker", and when I found the book, "the wide-awake princess". I can't wait for the next book, "the princess and the pearl". I probably don't need to write my third cause I think I wrote too much. ;p I love to type as I seems like a practise for me to finish my own written stories. I planned to upload one of my stories on Wattpad but I guess I'm just shy. I also tried uploading one on goodreads last year but I guess nobody reads the creative writing now so I deleted it...
Hope there's enough informations about me. (LOL.;D)
Sayonara!

And: Welcome to this group!

I'm Shankara and I'm from India.
I love reading books, especially fiction books.
I'm new to goodreads. I was just looking for some good books and found that there are groups for similar minds so just went through some groups. Joined here(As there's no mandate on the number or title of books)..
My goal for the year is to read at least 12 books.
Also I want to start reading other genre like biography, motivational, non fiction.
Any suggestion is welcome.
Thank you all have a great reading year ahead.

My Name is Katy, I'm 20 years old and from Germany. I like to read mostly Fantasy Books.
I haven't been able to read that much through the last year. My Goal forn this year is to change that amd to make a couple of challenges :)

My namn is Sanna and I'm from Sweden. I love fantasy and mostly just read books from that genre. Some of my favorite authors are Robert Jordan, Brandon Sanderson, Jim Butcher (have alot more). But sometimes I just need a brake... when that happens I like to enjoy romance, paranormal and a classic from time to time. Love to find people who enjoy the same as me:)
My goal for 2017 is to read 80 books
Good luck everyone!

Melanie we also have serial buddy reads that we are doing feel free to jump in

Hi Kim: I am Penny Evenson and I live in Chico CA. I love to read also - mainly mysteries, historical fiction, some romance, etc.
My goal is 50 books this year - only did 39 last year! Welcome to Goodreads!

thank you so very much!!!

I'm Amy from England, I stopped reading for a long time and am trying to get back into it, using this website as my motivation. This year I want to get through all my books I haven't read as I just keep buying more and more haha, and want to get through a bunch of classic in preparation for university!

I also stopped reading for a long time. Joining this group has turned that around and I am back to being a voracious reader and loving it! Have fun!

Happy reading everyone!

I'm mostly interested in non fiction, fictions, and books about social justice issues. I'm also into classics, and books I can get lost in.
For 2017, my goal is to read 12 books. So, 1 book a month. Which seems manageable since I'm a quick reader, it's just finding the time.

I read almost anything. I like to read the young adult stuff with my daughter. I like literary fiction, thrillers, classics, biographies, non-fiction, etc
I stumbled on this group by looking at a few other people's pages and groups.
My reading goal is at least 52 books this year. I usually read 40-45 so I'm pushing myself a little this year.
