Introduce Yourself to the Group - 2017!

I like to read almost everything! My favorite type of books are probably young adult/middle grade. I am a Middle School librarian so that might affect it hahaha I also love Children's literature - since i was an elementary librarian for 8 years :-)
My goodreads goal is 100 books - last year i read over 150 which is odd for me but i read a lot of graphic novels so that helped haha I am starting my masters degree in library science this year - so that will affect my reading i'm sure :-)

I found this group by checking for the most active groups. I've been trying to get more involved in the community and also by trying to review every (or almost every) book that I read this year. I get most of my books from the library so I figure it's the least I can do to give back to the author.
My goal this year is to read 110 books, which sounds like a lot but I managed 106 last year. I only raised the goal a little bit to make sure it wasn't a fluke. I'm already up to 12 books for the year so we'll see! :)

A little bit about me:
- Where are you from?
Maine, New England, United States
- What kinds of books do you like to read?
I favor mysteries and fantasy stories
- How did you find our group?
I have giving myself a challenge through Goodreads for a few years but never realized till now there was a group to go with it.
- What's your reading goal?
75 books for the year, same as last year which I did not make but I have hopes for 2017.

I'm willing to receive recommendations and discuss various plot twists with you guys, although it's going to be a little bit of a rush following the group actively.
Thank you for having me in here, XX

I mostly read YA or NA contemporary novels, although I'm making it my mission to expand my comfort zone throughout 2017, so expect those preferences to change as the year progresses. As I'm eighteen, the YA and NA preference probably won't change, but I'm hoping my love for more out-there genres does. I plan on reading Harry Potter at some point, so hopefully that'll be a good introduction into the fantasy genre!
I found this group through looking in the group tag, I think, or through another group that I've liked. I'm not actually sure, really; but I knew when I saw it that this was something I wanted to be a part of.
My 2017 reading goal is to read a total of 20 books throughout the year. Considering my goal last year was 10 books and I happily exceeded that, I hope that this goal is rational and achievable for me!

My favorite genre of books is horror, but I also love historical fiction.
I found this group when I searched for "challenges" in the group section.
My goal this year is 125 books. I doubt I'll make it, especially since I'm off to such a slow start this year.

My goal for 2017 is 20 adult books, because I tend to read Children's lit to keep up with my students. I am already a book in and started my second, so I guess I'm off to a good start. I am excited to hear about some of your favs:)

I try to variate my book choices. However, I prefer romance (contemporary, paranormal, historical). Sometimes YA, psychology, crime, adventure, detective, poetry if I feel like it. Don't judge, but I googled 'reading challenges bingo 2017' because I like bingo challenges, obviously, and well... here I am. My goodreads reading challenge goal is as of late 200 books/per year. As for why I read? Because I want to, I need to and I chose to. ;)

My goal for this year is 100 books. It's a bit much to start out with since I haven't read in so long, but I need to catch up on everything I've missed. This year, I would really like to try and read different genres than usual.

I like to read all kinds of books varying from chick lit to historical to autobiographies to business related book and so on! Lately I have been a bit lazy and using Netflix a lot when I'm not working and trying to get back into the groove of reading. I am going to try to read at least 36 books (in either Dutch or English) this year!

I had my reading goal 75 two years ago, so we will grow on you (pun intended) :D
And although my German is rusty, willkommen to the neighborhood, so to speak! Schones Tag, Frau Suzanne! :)

I know the Netflix struggle... So many new seasons, so little time...Be strong! I have switched Netflix to Goodreads and now spend few hours a day here :)

Haha thanks! Now just trying to decide on what to read. An easy something that I have on the Kindle anyways or the suggestion for this month in the group.

The struggle is real ;)

My goal in 2016 was to read 30 books, and I just barely squeaked in the 30th book on the 30th of December. I decided to challenge myself this year by trying to choose books to read that I already own instead of buying new ones (We'll see how long that lasts! lol) and bumped up the number of books to read to 35. I just finished my first book of the new year, Running With Scissors by Augusten Burroughs, and am about to start The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling.
Anyway, I'm excited to be a part of this group, and look forward to chatting with you all soon. :)

I'm Laura from PA. I've been a member of Goodreads for some time now and am also the co-host of the #sixtybooks reading challenge on Twitter. I run my own book blog and obviously love to read and share my love of books. My goal every year is 60 books. Working full time and being a mom of two makes it hard but I try to read every day, even if it is only for a few minutes. I also listen to audiobooks on the way to and from work.
With regard to genre, I love steampunk, paranormal, fantasy, YA, mystery/action/romance, and some light fun romances on occasion. I'm a huge fan of Peter Pan retellings also. Basically, as long as a book keeps me engaged, I'll enjoy it!

My goal is to read 24 books (2 a month) but I wouldn't mind passing that!

I'm Hailey and I'm from Edmonton, Canada. My goal is to read somewhere around 100 books this year. I'm a bit of a serial reader so I read anything I can get my hands on I have a soft spot for Horror and Fantasy though.

My reading goal this year is 15-20 books! I look forward to contributing to the group as we all read and enjoy many, many more books!
Happy reading. Happy writing. Happy creating.

I found this group because one of my friends posted in it. I looked at the group and thought that this could be a fun group to join, so that's exactly what I did.
As for my reading goal, go big or go home. I am shooting for 200 books this year. I work overnights at my job and it leaves a lot of free time. So that is why I chose such a high goal from last year.
Hi I am Mary Catherine. I have been a member of goodreads since 2008. I learned about it from my church. My goal is to read 104 books this year. I hope also to read books that are outside of my comfort zone.

Wish I had the time to read that many...lol!

Herman Melville's - Moby Dick

My name is Rica. I am from Kigali, a city in Rwanda; a small and beautiful country at the heart of Africa. One of my 2017 goals was to join an online reading community and read 24 books this year. I read one book a month last year and I want to push myself this year.
I like self help books, spirituality and romance. I am open to try out new genres too.
I look forward to learning from all of you in this group and I am happy I am meeting one of my set goals by joining this group!
I just finished reading "Straight from the Gut" today. An interesting though very long book so I am pretty excited so far. The year has started on a positive note.

Ya that's me...show me to the hall of shame. ;)

I'm a book blogger, so reading is my most favourite thing to do. I also love writing and planning and music.
I'm absolute rubbish with introductions, so I'll keep it at this for the moment, but if you guys have questions, please do ask!

I love anything by Oscar Wilde. There are books that make me feel glad to be alive than there are books that make me sad to be a part of human race. But I cherish the fact how books have been my friend during good times and an unflailing moral support in dark times.
I'll start this year with the aim of completing 25 books and with the singular hope of understanding the feelings of the writer's work. Sometimes I feel that I rush through the books just to complete the quota for my target.
Wishing that we all read and learn stuff to improve our life and be a better human being ✌
