Wow! Like getting the fall cleaning done, but on your bookshelves. Way to go, Debbie. Love seeing all those high rating since I've got a few of those to read as well.

I have not been on here in forever. Life has been pretty crazy since I retired! I thought I would have more time! But, I have been steadily reading. Although my list doesn't reflect it, I just counted and I have 108 books read on my Austenesque 2017 list. So, I am here - at Mr. Bennet's library! YAY. I will update my list as soon as possible.

I have a lot of time since I retired ... but when things happen they all come at once and I'm here thinking ... how does anyone find time for this! Congratuations on being at Longbourn!
Thanks, guys. I have 125 read on my Goodreads challenge, so, I guess 17 non-JAFF. I know....I'm addicted.
Barb wrote: "Thanks, guys. I have 125 read on my Goodreads challenge, so, I guess 17 non-JAFF. I know....I'm addicted."Oh, no no no. You're supposed to start with: "Hi. I'm Barb. And I'm an Austenesque-aholic."
To which the rest of us on this site (also Austenesque addicts) will say in unison, "Hi Barb!"
Great to see you back here, and awesome numbers, dearie!
Marlene wrote: "I have something like 40 total, including both not-JAFF and JAFF, so you're doing great!"Marlene, you're doing great, too. I'm pretty sure all the official members inhabiting Mr. Bennet's and Mr. Darcy's Libraries are retired. You've still got kids at home- much busier time of life. I hardly read any books at all when I was your age. Making up for it now!!

Marlene wrote: "Thanks, Debbie. My mom says she enjoys being unscheduled. I told her I look forward to reading. Ha!"My husband complains that I never schedule anything. My personality is, "Oh. I think I'll do (x) now." His is, "Next week, (x) needs to be done. I'll take care of it at (x) o'clock on (x)day," and he tells me. If I'm in the middle of a really good book at (x) o'clock on (x)day, I may not be cooperative. Drives him nuts!
Hahaha! I have everthing scheduled and routines established for everything. My husband just posted on FB my new morning schedule, covering 6 AM to 8:45 for the kids. 8:45 is the last of the four buses that will be coming to pick up the kids. (The first one is at 6:35!) Some people are in awe of my schedule - in 5 minute-increments in sections. :-D But to interrupt a book when you don't HAVE to - I can relate to how you might feel about that. Though I am, UNFORTUNATELY, generally very disciplined about following the time limits I set for myself. :-(
J. W. wrote: "Debbie, you are really making progress."Thanks, Jeanne. I'm sure you have a whole stack of books you haven't posted yet. I've come across some of your reviews recently, so I KNOW you're still reading at a crazy pace!
Actually Debbie, I don't. I decided sometime ago that if I didn't post immediately... I probably wouldn't. There were several that I just didn't have anything to say or add to what you guys had already said and so I just posted stars. I recently read The Duchess... and am waiting for a librarian to set it up on GR. Wow!! That was one heck of a work-in-progress. School has started in my area and I have finally calmed down. I tense up every year thinking I am going to wake up and find out that my retirement was a dream, that I have overslept, forgotten to create a test, failed to post grades, have forgotten my password, and missed an important in-service. Now that is a nightmare. I'm getting better.
Thank goodness I have those books in that TBP pile that call out to distract me. Of a morning [disgustingly early], the school bus picks up the neighborhood kids and then turns around right in front of my house. If I'm still in bed, I just roll over and go back to sleep. In the afternoons, I can sit on my deck and listen as that same school bus brings the kiddos home. Usually, I have a book in my hand. Yea, I am enjoying my deck.
Happy reading to you and all our GR friends. Cooler weather has come through and it feels fall-ish. I know that is a tease as we can still have a lot of hot weather between now and Fall. But, it feels nice after all that 100+ degree heat-index we have had recently.
I NEED coffee... Debbie, I just realized what you were asking me. Lawd!! You were saying I have not posted my list... I was thinking posted reviews. Geeeez, where is my head today. I am lost in another world. I am working on something on the side and I can't seem to focus on anything else. OK... now... let's start again... Oh-My-Goodness, thank you Debbie for reminding me to post what I've been reading.
Hello, my name is J. W. Garrett and....
"School has started in my area and I have finally calmed down. I am not joking. I have worked since I was 17-years old. 25-years in the public sector and then I went back to school and completed an elementary education degree and started working within the school system. I did my masters in special education, did 3 years in a emotional/behavior unit, then moved to smaller class settings and after 15 years, retired [burnt out]. As time goes on... I'm getting better. Reading and writing reviews helps and I am certainly enjoying myself on GR. I have great GR friends and enjoy interacting with them. So... life is good. Love you guys.
Jeanne-sending you warm wishes, positive thoughts, lots of sunshine and a smile,😊,from my little corner of the world to yours!
J.W., that's a lot to have experienced for years and years! I pray that you find more peace. Your reviews are great. I rely on them!
Hello! I'm wondering if any of you have heard from Sheila. She's been offline since the 7th. I've left phone messages and emails with no response. I miss her recommendations, reviews, and comments. Mostly I miss her.Joy
I was wondering about her a few days ago. Didn't she mention having a medical procedure done? In one of her reviews?
Marlene wrote: "I was wondering about her a few days ago. Didn't she mention having a medical procedure done? In one of her reviews?"She did, Marlene. We emailed back and forth the day prior and I've not heard anything since. I'll keep checking. She is a precious friend.
I hope that she isn't having serious medical difficulties. Has anyone heard of a way online social groups can connect to one another in such a way that can keep us informed if someone disappears suddenly? For example, sharing with each other the name of one person on GR who would know if everything is all right? Or ??? It's an unpleasant feeling. In life, at church, for example, you go around asking people until you hit someone who knows. Social media isn't quite like that. Even if you have the person in question's e-mail address, that's potentially not going to do any good...
We all love Sheila. I've sent messages myself but only encouraging messages letting her know I was thinking about her and remembering her in my prayers. She will be glad to know we are thinking about her. Joy, I know she especially loves you and will be glad to hear from you. Let's all remember her in our prayers.

I'm so glad -- I was trying not to worry but I had thought she would be back soon! Thanks Joy, for the update about our friend Sheila.
Joy-thank you for the update on Sheila. She's been in our thoughts and it's great to hear that she's been in contact with you.
I must have missed some posts. I didn't know Sheila was ill. Please pass on my best wishes too and tell her I'm lighting a candle for her.
I'm so glad to hear she's on the mend!! I hope she's feeling well enough to read and that reading can play a major role in her recuperation! Sleep and rest also, of course!
I live in Houston, Texas and we are stuck in our house for days. Our street is not flooded and we have power but our area is bad. Please pray for my area. My kids are going stir crazy and it's only day 2. We expect to be stuck in our home till at least Tuesday. But we are better off than most. Hopefully, I can catch up on reading.
