I'm doing a text-to-speach read-through too. So there could well be tweaking but very little in terms of word counts.

Sorry was foolish enough not to refresh the page before I typed my update and leg it. Nice going and sounds intriguing. ;-)

To be honest the parenting is a doddle. It's combining it with the requirements of four needy parents at opposite ends of the British isles that causes the major time and energy suck. McOthers are ok but getting too sick to travel and they're five hours away so we can only visit them in the holidays without taking a Friday out of school and getting fined. I foresee McOther flying up there most weekends soon. They're less likely to fess up if they need us too because they don't want to cause any bother, which means McOther will go up there far more than if they just say yes, we do need you this time or, we're crook but we'll be fine because he's second guessing if he's really required. They have more demons too, one has diverticulitis: a kind of IBS type thing, as in sudden and urgent need for a loo, stomach cramps, hospitalisation etc plus remnants of depression. Not full blown depression, but enough to find it really hard to summon the energy to go out and join in sometimes. And the only cure fo diverticulitis is to have the problem area removed and use a colostomy bag. That's scary for them to look in the eye, it's not dignity enhancing either, which is hard for their generation, even if, in this case, it would give them their lives back.
I feel for your problem there, Mary. Lacking any parents (mine were all gone by the time I was 25) I do wonder if I've gained at this end of my time line what I was losing in my late teens/early twenties

Thanks.
938 words this morning. So, on track.

At least McMini will understand that come 50, his life will be entirely given over to others, although I hope I can manage to die quickly rather than subject him to 15 years of watching Alzheimer's take a tiny bit of me away from him each day.

No word-count for me, probably for a while. I realise there are a lot of plot things I have to sort before I can carry on writing.
Early this morning, I was punching about 1K before the dog tripped over the cable and my laptop went flying. Pity, because it's book 2's early chapters, and I thought I'd put down some good stuff. If I was editing, I wouldn't mind that much, but writing it again word for word was impossible, and before I knew it, had to leave for work.Luckily, no dogs are allowed there.
Kath wrote: "I'm doing a text-to-speach read-through too. So there could well be tweaking but very little in terms of word counts."Spent a couple of days this week preparing another version for a fourth read-through, so am about to start that.
I had a brainwave (I hope) and have extracted 27,000 words from my blog posts about farming and sheep and am trying to put them into some semblance of order prior to making them an ebook

I had a cat spill a pint of water over my laptop once, that was a bit of a pisser too. ;-)

technically it shouldn't need too much editing and each story is short enough to accompany a quick bowel movement ;-)

0. As usual. Just thought I'd chip in!Lost my mum to dementia around 11 years ago now (doesn't seem that long, but the days seem to double-time past these days!) Its was the 10+ years before that that I did the weekend treks down to visit. Probably why I'm still single - by the time I looked up, everyone I knew was married with kids. Too set in my ways now, and can't be arsed with that internet dating stuff. (plus all the lady friends I've made locally over the past few years have just buggered off overseas before Brexit shuts the door!. And those that were actively looking wanted someone rich. Richer than me anyway. Hell, even I want someone richer than me! (that's not a high bar, btw!)

Tim, I want to give you a big hug now! Wait! Don't run away! ;-) There'll be someone out there, when you're least expecting it. I never thought I'd meet anyone who'd stick with me.
And thanks, and I'm sorry you had to do the dementia thing too. I'm sorry anyone has to do it. McOther and I still have all four parents between us, which is kind of a blessing but also kind of tough because three of the four are in deep shit. Two have dementia (mine; one diagnosed, one in complete denial) and McOther's unwell parent has a completely debilitating IBS type illness which makes it almost impossible for her to go out because it hits without warning.
And I'm taking it hard at the moment because I'm a bit hormonal. ;-)

I think he is still having an impact of vet recruitment

if it's any consolation Tim I've noticed that friends of mine who thought they were safely single for life, often got snapped up when they least expected it because a single man with no children to support suddenly becomes 'a catch' :-)
Being with a man with pre-existing teenagers is bloody hard work, I can attest to. Throw an absolute nutter of an ex into the mix...Dave had to work damn hard to keep me around til that mess sorted out.
I'm meant to be proofreading a book proposal for a mate over the weekend but I left it on my desk. Oops.
Tim, you would be amazed what (or rather who) comes around a corner unexpectedly. 18 months ago I was contentedly settling into a single life. A chance meeting with someone I'd known for quite a few years. Now I've had a co-hab for, well, 18 months and she seems to be a fixture. And I couldn't be happier about it.Never say never.
Always a downside, isn't there?Another 922 written yesterday. i'd better shift this story along - haven't had a killing in pages

Actuall I've just done 2200 words converting a short story into a longer short story for an anthology submission
Right. I now have two books ready to go. One will go in April, the other in autumn some time - so I'm now having and edit/tweak on another. 44 words. ;)
Why do we have to wait so long for them?? I have no patience - once I've written a book I want to fling it out and publish it, and move on to the next one.Just short of 3,000 today - on target after a disrupted week.
Patti (baconater) wrote: "Will wrote: "Are we allowed to look forward to these???"No."
Well he can't look backward to them...
We wait for someone else to upload and do the cover. Someone whose time at the mo is taken up with getting his own next story finished. I'm patient!

No that was my time being short and my tablet not being my laptop - harder to type on!
