SOLVED. Book about vampire, maybe 10-15 yrs ago? [s]

I'm looking for a book that I read a long time ago, maybe in the early 00s. I don't remember much of it because it was a long time ago and I was quite young, but I know it was about vampires. I think a human girl met a male vampire and they fell in love (but I'm not sure ...) I remember them saying a vampires' strength depends on how violent the death was. In the end, the girl dies a very violent death and becomes a vampire, if I remember correctly. Does this ring any bell to anyone? Would be very grateful for any ideas :)
