Robert, I had no idea! I have never heard of the Expositor mentioned anywhere apart from Edwards, except Spurgeon mentions it almost in passing in his "Commenting and Commentaries." It's good to hear that it has not been unnoticed completely! I'd be curious to hear what Lloyd-Jones said about it!

Although I've used this great commentary and devotional for years as my "go to" commentary, I haven't actually buckled down and read it cover to cover. It's an extremely obscure work, but it might be my very favorite book in all the world (other than the Bible of course).
I found this book when reading various works of my favorite theologian, "Jonathan Edwards." Edwards references this book so often that it's evident it was near and dear to him. This book is the best New Testament commentary I have ever read! Yet even more, it contains in my opinion, the greatest devotions on the New Testament! Doddridge has a devotion for every section of the New Testament. This is volume I of II on the gospels, and there are other editions that contain the rest of the New Testament.
I love this book so much, that because it was so hard to find, I published a two volume set of his entire New Testament so that I could use it! Since then, I found this little 2 volume set published in 1978. If you're interested in getting your hands on this book, check out my blog article I wrote on it here: https://stumblingstoneblog.wordpress....
I'm excited to actually read this one cover to cover!
