Richard Parise | 97 comments In the past, I would simply go to Barnes and Noble and search the shelves dealing with the genre I was interested in. My wife was and still is a member of a book club and looks online through their lists of offerings. I'm sure many readers search Amazon and order there. As a Goodreads' author, I am curious how people here find there next book to read.

Cynthia (baboblue) | 37 comments Occasionally I check N.Y. Times, I always find something of interest. Also, here on Goodreads, I check out other members tbr lists or what Goodreads recommends for me and lastly, I watch youtube videos. There is a BookTube Community and I watch book hauls and book reviews. Many of the videos are I watch are YA but there a few book tubers that haul adult fiction.

Angel I usually find books here on GR. Generally when I add someone as a friend I check out their bookshelves and I almost always find at least one book that interests me. I've had some good books from the GR generated recommendations too. If those fail me I go to the bookstore and wander aimlessly through all the isles.

Ash (morethanfairytales) | 115 comments Great question. I find books in a variety of places: Tumblr, BookTube reviews, recommendations from friends, browsing random shelves in the library or bookstore, reading an article about it in the New York Times, or by watching the film adaptation. I'm most likely to pick up a book after watching its film adaptation and least likely to pick up a book after having it recommended to me (based on previous experiences, I trust very few people to recommend books I'll enjoy).

Lauren | 72 comments I use the "reading and recommendations" tool on here as well as the "giveaway" section. Also, this group has monthly suggestions; I look up each book and mark the ones that sound interesting as "to read". Then I vote for my favorite one.

Equine Dragon | 83 comments Lately I have found a lot of good books through YouTube book tube. I have really enjoyed the videos put out there on YouTube. Also it has made me really branch out and discover genres I would have never considered otherwise.

Katie.g | 129 comments I usually look through the recommendations section of goodreads, check out books of the month that interest me or read a review that a friend has posted and makes me want to read it. I also do enter giveaways and sometimes find stuff I like on there.

Jim Vuksic First - Browse the neighborhood public library.

Second - Browse nearby book stores. I usually only buy books if I am certain that I will read them more than once or if they are part of a series.

Third - Books that my four adult children give me as a birthday, Christmas or Father's Day gift. They know exactly what I like to read.

Silvia Turcios | 395 comments I used to just check the book-stores and read what looked interesting, now I used a lot the recommendation section of goodreads, but I look also for what is people talking about, for example, I read 50 Shades because everybody was talking about it (Big mistake!) and I read The Hunger Games because I heard they were going to make a movie (Big success!).

Daniel Benshana | 10 comments I browse www.psbooks.co.uk/ here in the UK and have used them for nearly twenty years now for hard copy. That and secondhand bookshops which were my delight when I was a kid.

I am now finding articles I read often reference pdf versions of books which I am reading more and more. I am also aware that pdfs can be read on phones and e-readers now so am thinking about getting a tablet.

I don't like classics a e-books. That might change as my eyesight does :)

Dorottya (dorottya_b) | 66 comments I watch a handful of booktubers, get recommendations from friends and teachers, and there are some publishers that I like always putting out their new stuff in newsletters and facebook, so I just browse through them to see if something catches my eyes or not.

Melissa Eisenmeier (carpelibrumbooks) Right now, I find most of mine through Goodreads, wholesale distributors, and publisher websites/catalogues. Before I opened up my bookstore, I found most of mine through Goodreads, and browsing the library and independent bookstores.

amaldae (staticatku) I think Goodreads has become the simplest answer to this question. I read a lot of reviews here, and go check out the most interesting titles I come across with (it doesn't really matter if people I trust have strongly liked or disliked a book, as far as it captures my eye). Sometimes when I feel that I'm neglecting some kind of literature / country, or some subject just has taken my fancy, I find lists with books that might suit my needs.

However, Goodrads is not my only means of getting suggestions. I use some other sites to see upcoming titles from a particular genre, and I am also always looking what books others around me are talking about so that I can keep up to date. Not to mention those heavenly visits to libraries and bookstores, where I rarely get far before I've grabbed more than enough books with me ^^
