Just completed #11 (author using pseudonym) - The Pleasure Palace by Kate Emerson. Rather standard Tudor novel. The main character is someone much discussed in Tudor history. The writing was a little simple. The characters lacked dimension. Not bad but not great either. 3 stars

Just completed #21 (nonhuman perspective) - Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor. This book started out very slow and a touch teen angsty. However, once the world was revealed and became more intricate, it got very interesting. Writing was good and characters were complex. Definitely worth reading! 4 stars

I liked it - had a hard time putting it down. Not sure if that was that I loved the story or if I needed closure - there was definitely both aspects to it. Absolutely food for thought and a bit scary relative to our world today.

I think we're going to see the movie this weekend.
