Im fascinated with this book. Im so glad and happy to readed.The book is so deep,full of emotions,interesting characters,events,scenes,that i just cant hold my hands off her!!But the most beautifull,too hard,for me,is how characters struggle in itself with spiritual and moral norms,which you never find in other books like this discribed,very touched,dramatic and with full emotions.The best for me is Elijah,he is so strong character in all book,and i love him sooo much!:):) This is MUST HAVE book!!Its perfect!

Hi :) I'm sorry. I've been sick and it was so hard to read so I haven't had the chance to start this book. I'll get to it tomorrow though.

No problem! I hope you're better already Eleanne :) I just finished chapter 10 and I really like the book so far.

This book reminds me a little of (view spoiler)[ Red Rising with the military school and stuff. Even the names are similar. I enjoyed Red Rising, so it's not a bad thing though. I think the military school as a setting is nice, so dark and gloomy. (hide spoiler)]

I like (view spoiler)[ Elias a lot. He seems like a strong character and I think it's great he's not afraid of turning his back to the things that are expected of him. However, I'm glad he decided to face the trials but really it was quite obvious who the chosen four will be. I like Helene a lot, too. I think she's more interesting than Laia and I'd like to read chapters from her point of view as well. When it comes to Laia, it annoyed me a bit at first that she seemed to be so scared of everything. I'm glad she finally spoke up about her parents. I hope we'll see a stronger side of her soon. Ok, this book has been on a major hold for me because I've got so many books checked out from the library that are about to expire. I really like this book so I've been wanting to read on. I'm happy I was finally able to get back to it.

I love the chapters that take place (view spoiler)[ in Blackcliff. The commandant is an interesting character. I wonder how she came to be that way and why she seems to want his own son dead. I'd be interested in reading more about her life and past. She really seems to enjoy cruelty. I wonder if the ghuls and other creatures have something to do with that. I'd also like to know why she's corresponding with the emperor. (hide spoiler)]

I'm glad (view spoiler)[Helene and Elias made it through the first trial but I wonder who will be the first to die. My guess is Zak. Elias don't seem to know whether he likes Helene or Laia. I'd prefer Helene for him. Perhaps he and Laia are siblings. It would explain why his mother seems to hate him..I mean if his dad was a resistance leader. (hide spoiler)]

I wonder how (view spoiler)[Laia is handling things even as well as she is. I guess thinking about Darin gives her strenght. Honestly though, I find her obsession about saving Darin a bit annoying. It's like she's thinking nothing else. And she won't be much of a help for him if she's dead, which she doesn't seem to realize. (hide spoiler)]

I feel so bad for (view spoiler)[ Helene. I's not her fault she was raised to be a mask and to think the way masks think. She's having such a hard time trying to understand Elias and her own feelings for him. I think it's sad she feels that Elias fails to see anything good in her. (hide spoiler)]

I finally finished this and I really loved the story!

I can't believe (view spoiler)[Marcus was actually crowned emperor. And Helen appointed his blood shrike. Well, I guess it makes more sense this way, though, because there's the sequel. (hide spoiler)]

I hope the second book (view spoiler)[won't be only about freeing Darin. I never found Laia's mission to save him very interesting. I'd rather read more about other characters, like the commandant, for instance. I'd also like to know the Cook's story. But come what may, I can't wait to read the second book! (hide spoiler)]
