As with the last 2 years, I'll be doing an 'official' Goodreads challenge for an arbitrary number of reads ... and will, if I reach that target, just carry on as I am trying to read and get rid of (to charity shop) a lot of physical books to generally declutter.

I just took a liquor box of books to half price books the other day.Unfortunately that seems to have had no effect on our shelves. This year I have at least 5 books on my planned reading list from the physical shelf. Hopefully I'll be able to get more than those 5 done. (Ideally 20 to keep up with library book sales, but that's wishful thinking.)
I know the feeling Myst. I have taken a l-o-t-t-t of books to the charity shop and it scarcely makes a difference. I'm waiting for the tipping point!
I've renamed the thread slightly as I realise there is another Pam reading science fiction, one of my main reads, which might be confusing otherwise.

OK, first read of the 2017 challenge (to read 150 books, most from physical TBRs):The Robber Bride by Margaret Atwood - reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1853974891.
Second one, also Margaret Atwood - Good Bones - reviewed here - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1867145413
Read a slightly spooky tale by John Gordon - The Ghost On The Hill and reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1844809694.
Finished a darkly humourous horror tale The M.D. which unfortunately fell apart in the last third as I've explained - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1877788731
Finished Margaret Atwood's The Blind Assassin and posted a review - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1693679832
.
Read the January challenge book - The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins and reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1877789809
I read Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks. Had been looking forward to it but found it an enormous disappointment as I explained here - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1883937254
Read a writing advice book - The Complete Guide to Writing Fiction - and reviewed it https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1887501143
Pam wrote: "I read Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks. The only Brooks I have read was March which I thought also contained some historically inaccurate incidents (view spoiler). Between that & your review, I don't think I will try her again!
Latest read - a Diana Wynne Jones book - Deep Secret and review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1893696156
Another DWJ, a sort of follow-up to the first - The Merlin Conspiracy- plus review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1893763482.
What a slog - finally finished the third segment of Gillian Bradshaw's Arthurian trilogy - In Winter's Shadow. Review is here - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1390905968.
Before that read and reviewed two books of TV and social criticism from the late 60s/early 70s by Harlan Ellison - The Glass Teat and The Other Glass Teat.
Read a rather grim dystopian SF novel - Inish Carraig - by Jo Zebedee, and reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1638858471
Finished a book that initially looked very promising, but sadly didn't deliver - Dragon's Winter by Elizabeth Lynn - and reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1638824780
Finished Broken by Kelley Armstrong, a bit disappointing. Reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1901548933
Read the first in Suzy McKee Charnas' grim dystopian series Walk to the End of the World and reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1908983536.
Finished Suzy McKee Charnas' book, which is much better than the first: Motherlines and reviewed it https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1909068219Then finished The Pigman by Paul Zindel and reviewed it https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1883148433.
Read The Furies, book 3 of the Holdfast series by Suzy McKee Charnas, and posted a review - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1914468705. Best of the bunch though I don't know if I'm going to bother getting a copy of number four - I already had the first three.
Read a second Paul Zindel teen/YA book, The Undertaker's Gone Bananas and posted a review - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1914537787
Read book 1 of Tanith Lee's trilogy The Birthgrave and posted a review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1915121441. In some respects a tour de force of writing but also quite a slog - the character's disinterested alienation from her environment and passivity, although explained at the end in a rather strange infodump means that you don't feel involved with her especially as she is meant to be a superwoman literally.
Read book 2 in the Birthgrave trilogy by Tanith Lee, Vazkor, Son of Vazkor, and posted a review - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1915122689. Different vibe this time; the story of the character's son but his and other men's attitudes and behaviour to women are repellent.
Read the third in Tanith Lee's Birthgrave trilogy, Quest for the White Witch, and posted a review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1915122722The same character as in book 2 but he does improve as things go along and he learns wisdom.
Finished John Gordon's spooky tale, The House On The Brink, and posted a review - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1920818306.
Finished Ramsey Campbell's Hungry Moon and posted a review - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1925761435.
Read Marion Zimmer Bradley's The Shattered Chain and posted a review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1932490280.
Read the follow-up to The Shattered Chain, Thendara House, and posted a review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1934827050.
Read The Not-World by Thomas Burnett Swann and posted a review - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1934898666
A quick read - John Gordon's The Midwinter Watch - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1936857372.
Bit behind posting my reviews. Here's a couple of Marion Zimmer Bradley collections: The Other Side of the Mirror which I reviewed here - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1946598558 and Renunciates of Darkover - review here - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1946605761.
And a couple more of MZB, novels this time: The Spell Sword - review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1954206844 and The Forbidden Tower - review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1954215831.
OK, the final MZB, 3rd in the Renunciates trilogy, City of Sorcery and reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1954244126.
Complete change and a library book as I just discovered how to borrow ebooks, and had to read it in 14 days .... better not do much of that with my physical TBR!Wool Omnibus by Hugh Howey.
Review - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1961942775.
A re-read of a teen favourite - Witch World by Andre Norton - reviewed: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1367359966
Finished book 2 of the Witch World series by Andre Norton - Web of the Witch World - and reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1954248792.
Read The Spyglass File by Nathan Duncan Goodwin and reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1765215455
Read A Cotswold Casebook by Rebecca Tope and reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1967530739.
Just finished a re-read of Ariel by Steven Boyett which this time around was rather a disappointment - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1954253265.
Seemed to have overlooked this one - Resurrection Row by Anne Perry, part of a crime series set in Victorian London - reviewed https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1840405217. Good scene setting but the plot was ultimately unconvincing.
Read Three Against the Witch World by Andre Norton and reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1954248869.
Read book 4 of the Witch World series by Andre Norton - Warlock of the Witch World - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1954249088. Enjoyable weird read.
