Unfortunately that seems to have had no effect on our shelves. This year I have at least 5 books on my planned reading list from the physical shelf. Hopefully I'll be able to get more than those 5 done. (Ideally 20 to keep up with library book sales, but that's wishful thinking.)

Good thinking! I often get confused by those sort of coincidences though once I open the thread, the icons help orient me.

The Robber Bride by Margaret Atwood - reviewed it - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1853974891.

Good review Pam! The only Brooks I have read was March which I thought also contained some historically inaccurate incidents (view spoiler) . Between that & your review, I don't think I will try her again!

Then finished The Pigman by Paul Zindel and reviewed it https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1883148433.

In some respects a tour de force of writing but also quite a slog - the character's disinterested alienation from her environment and passivity, although explained at the end in a rather strange infodump means that you don't feel involved with her especially as she is meant to be a superwoman literally.

Different vibe this time; the story of the character's son but his and other men's attitudes and behaviour to women are repellent.

The same character as in book 2 but he does improve as things go along and he learns wisdom.

Wool Omnibus by Hugh Howey.
