Rosie | 874 comments Hello Group:

I need some assistance locating a book title that is escaping my memory. I need to say in advance it's a familiar plot. Thanks in advance for the help -- it's appreciated.

I read the sample online and didn't download.

Here's the plot:

(BWWM) love story ... the woman was involved with a rich man 7 years ago and she wants him back. His father didn't think she was good enough so he made it look like he paid her off and she accepted the money -- however, she did leave town. The father is now dead. When she returns I think she tries to contact her ex at his company and was unsuccessful in reaching him. She shows up at a Gala honoring his now dead father. I think an award or a hospital wing is dedicated in the name of his father.

She decides now is not the time to try and talk to him so as she's leaving the gala she bumps into his best friend who hates her too. I think he is blonde-haired and he is married, he may be a lawyer or works in some capacity in her ex-lover's company or they grew up together.

As he is telling her to stay away from his friend. Her old love sees her and cuts his speech short, comes over and asks her what is she doing at the gala since she hated his father. She indicates she wants to talk to him so I think they step away and make plans to meet for lunch the next day or in a couple of days. Meanwhile, her old lover is involved with another woman who he had planned on proposing to that night but I believe seeing his old lover shakes him up and he puts those plans on hold.

So sorry for this long message and thanks in advance.

Does it sound familiar to anyone?

Thanks.

Shandee | 158 comments I think you are talking about "I Want You Back", by Thayer King

Apparently, this book is coming out soon, and the Herione's name is Ashley White, the Her is Stephen Ashcroft.

Shandee: Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. You have saved me years of therapy -- that's the book. I thought I had read the synopsis online, but you're right it was an excerpt at the end of 'The Neighbor Next Door'. I look forward to reading it soon. :-)

You are welcome. It sounds like 'I Want You Back' and 'A Secret to Keep' are very similar.

Reagen | 2 comments I have been searching for this book for forever. I read it a while ago (I read maybe 10-15 interracial novels a day). The only part I can remember is this scene.

So the main girl is asked by the main guy to meet him at a restaurant. The main girl meets him there but notices that there are no parking spots so she parks pretty far away from the restaurant. Meanwhile the hero is blowing up her phone asking her what's taking her so long. He is waiting outside when she finally gets to the restaurant. She begins to explain how she parked far away. The main guy gets upset and tells her he is not mad at her but all the dipshit guys she dated since she didn't understand how a woman should be treated. He then proceeds to tell her if he asks her to meet him at a restaurant she use valet and if there is no valet to call him so he can park the car. They go inside and his family is there. His family asked why is he mad and she tells them oh because she parked the car and walked over. The father and the brother than proceed to berate the main guy asking him why she was parking the car and where was he. (I believe the family was Italian)

I know it is not much to go by but it is one of my fav stories I just can't seem to remember the title.

Patricia: Since Desired is one of my favs I had recently started to re-read it until I saw the new release of Sienna's book, 'Boss: Romantic Thriller.' Like I don't have enough in my TBR to read. Now, I'm moving on to Yearn and I'll pick up Desired again once there is a loll in my reading schedule. LOL

Trust me Reagen, I know the angst of trying to find a loved book. Sometimes it's difficult when you read so many books that a lot of them are similar in plot, tone and actions. It gets even crazier when you have books at/in iBooks, Kindle & Axis and you're trying to find it.
