[ ▸ Damian Gaius Solomon Abdul Dunwich - Widdershins ◂ ]
━━━━ 18 · male · homosexual · eldritch summoner ━━━━

❝ They say that Damian Dunwich looks a lot like Dylan O'Brien.

Damian is a lean young man of medium stature who has pale skin, brown hair and honey-brown eyes. He is known for having moles all over his face, neck, and body, and his hair is usually gelled into a messy style. His choice in clothing leans toward pieces that are comfortable and casual, such as hoodies, flannel button-ups, baseball-style t-shirts, and slim-cut jeans with Vans sneakers. He can be found with his signature blue beanie or equally iconic red hoodie, along with thick rimmed hipster glasses. He has a Lichtenberg figure on his arm which is his connection to the Void.

An eldritch summoner is a person bonded to the Void and can spawn unholy atrocities, referred to as either eldritch or aberrations, anomalies in reality whose existence defies the rules of nature that radiate aberrant energies, causing the summoner to be unable to be near electronic devices after being in close contact with them. This radiation causes video distortion, television static, and white noise, among other things. Aberrations generally all have bizarre anatomies, strange abilities, alien mindsets, or any combination thereof. These manifestations can range from the unusual, to the awe-inspiring, to the mind-shatteringly terrifying. Aberrations undergo morphallaxis (tissue regeneration) when injured or severed, they are also non-senescence - they do not age and are therefore biologically immortal. They can be wounded by blessed silver, as the purifying properties burn them. A continuous flame or current of electricity can make it hard to regenerate and may kill it. The reciting mantras, sutras, and prayers can keep them at bay, and holy symbols, along with the Elder Seal, can repel them. The summoner can disspell them at any time, and keeping them on this side of the Veil for extended periods of time drains their stamina and weakens their already failing mental health. The summoner is armed with the Necronomicon, an almanac, grimoire, and bestiary guide to all things eldritch. All summoners are marked with a brand along their arms, Damian possesses a Lichtenberg figure along his left arm which glows when he conjures an eldritch abomination. Only the eldritch summoner can be around the monsters without going insane, though this is due to their pre-damaged mental state, already mad and accustomed to the Void-radiation which causes others to lose their minds, instead of fearing the creatures, they worship them and possess a symbiotic relationship with the parasitic beings, offering up their mortal consciousness to be fed upon in exchange for dark power.

An eldritch summoner's most prominent ability is to call forth aberrant creatures and have them fight on their behalf. Damian can not exactly control this power, as it acts up due to his high strung emotional state, allowing smaller entities to worm their way through by force and refuse being banished. Most of the time, when he does summon something, the wrong entity comes out.

“Do not call up that which you cannot put down.” ― H.P. Lovecraft, The Case of Charles Dexter Ward

Portal creation is another ability. This is directly tied to his power to summon and banish aberrant beings. The Silver Key is used to open the Gate, which cuts through the Void to allow travel which warps relative time-space, allowing nigh-instantaneous teleportation. The Key is needed to summon large eldritch as well. It is summoned itself, as a form of solidified aberrant energy and dissipates upon use.

“Yog-Sothoth knows the gate. Yog-Sothoth is the gate. Yog-Sothoth is the key and guardian of the gate. Past, present, future, all are one in Yog-Sothoth. He knows where the Old Ones broke through of old, and where They shall break through again. He knows where They have trod earth's fields, and where They still tread them, and why no one can behold Them as They tread.” ― H.P. Lovecraft, "The Dunwich Horror"

Damian's personality is most accurately described as anxious, hyperactive, and curious. He is extremely hyperactive, outspoken and immensely intelligent, has a quick mind for puzzles and research, but is prone to distraction, fidgeting gestures, and flailing due in part to his ADHD. Damian also has an extreme penchant for sarcastic quips. Despite his scatterbrained shenanigans, he is well-meaning and very protective of those he cares for. He is a notorious bookworm who excels at piecing together clues and figuring out mysteries. Since becoming aware of his powers, Damian's social and generalized anxiety has only become worse, especially after the death of his best friends, because the amount of enjoyment that he got out of being powerful and in control made him frightened and ashamed of his darker nature, pushing him to do good to make up for it and to ensure that no one else gets hurt because of his actions. Because of this anxiety, Damian can often become so overwhelmed by trauma that he both physically and verbally lashes out at anyone around him, whether they are friend or foe. Despite Damian's anxiety and his increasingly violent reactions to bad news, Damian is a very loyal person who would do anything to protect his loved ones, even if it means giving up his life to do so. Damian is slow to trust people, but once he warms up to them and the person gains his trust, he becomes very close to them and will do whatever he has to do in order to protect them and ensure their safety. His anxiety has caused eldritch to be able to slip through without him summoning them or having trouble banishing them. Because of the great trauma he faced upon the death of his friends, he only summons lesser the situation is dire. He possesses sleep paralysis and night terrors, often leading to leaks from the Void in the form of Night Gaunts.

Damian Gaius Solomon Abdul Dunwich-Widdershins was born to Allan Philips Dunwich and Eleanor Sonia Widdershins of Arkham, Massachusetts on August 20th. He suffered from parasomnia growing up, sleep paralysis and night terrors. Eventually, things got out of control when Damian's imagination began going haywire. He'd see things that weren't there. Monsters hiding in his closet, boogiemen under his bed, and girls in white dresses in place of his reflection. Damian was diagnosed with schizophrenia at age seven, "just like his grandfather." He argued that he wasn't crazy. Damian was sent to Arkham Asylum in Arkham, Massachusetts, where he was subjected to electroshock therapy and was tortured in the name of psychiatric care for the next few years.

Everything changed when he turned 10. Three years since he had been admitted, Damian had attempted suicide, which failed. He distanced himself from reality through role-playing games like World of Warcraft and Dungeons and Dragons. He became infatuated with the horror genre, as well as Gothic fiction and dark fantasy.

His only two friend throughout his elementary carrier had been a girl by the name of Gwendolyn Argent and a girl named Crystal Chase. Damian always had a crush on Gwen, who, in turn, would use this to her advantage and abuse his feelings for her. They were a dysfunctional trio that soon would be separated. At the height of their friendship came Seventh Grade, during which Crystal left Arkham and moved down south to Salem, where she attended Salem Preparatory with a shy boy by the name of Jasper Evans. Damian and Gwen move to Beverly after their homes are taken to dorms for Miskatonic University. Damian met Gwen's openly gay cousin, Stephen, in his third block History Class. Stephen is head over heels for Damian.

During October of that year, the trio meets up with their new friends. When Crystal introduces Jasper to Stephen Argent, he immediately falls for him and calls him cute. Stephen blushes, and a confused Damian is jealous for some unexplainable reason. With Halloween came sexual outfits for the Argents, which both enthralled Damian. Jasper and Stephen begin an abusive relationship, with Gwen having mixed feelings toward Jasper.

Winter comes with snow and yet more sexual outfits for the rather young Argents during Christmas. Come New Year's Eve, Damian gets the nerve to make his move on Stephen, and they kiss. But Jasper pulls Damian off and makes out with Stephen with a wandering hand which causes Stephen discomfort. After a while of trying to pull away from his aggressive boyfriend, Damian steps in and ends up beating up Jasper.

After being asked out in January and being made Stephen's Valentine in February, Damian tries to get his mind off of the blonde by once again flirting with Gwendolyn. Always the sadist, she twists his heart as he tries to understand why he is so confused around Stephen. During Stephen's 13th birthday, the two finally kiss in a passionate, non-chaste way. When Jasper walks in, Stephen is dumped, but Damian turns him down for a date, stating he 'needs some space and time to think about this.' The group does not meet until April due to these developments.

April came around and the gang rekindled their friendship and made up. Jasper, however, was rather cold to Stephen, but Damian made sure he paid him no mind. The two began getting close, but Damian would always shy away when things got too intimate or romantic. They started up their old Dungeons and Dragons campaign they had left two months prior, and delved deep into their roles and respective archetypes.

Come May, they heard Gottskalk Nikulausson's book of dark magic had came to the local museum after being unearthed in Iceland, and they just had to see it. Damian expected it to be similar to the Codex Gigas of Sweden, but what he saw was the book of the damned. Written on human skin, with human blood as ink, the book was none other than the Necronomicon of ‎Abdul Alhazred. The book called out to him, whispering its dark secrets in his ears. He longed to touch that blasphemous leather, run his fingers across the spine and feel it under his skin. He needed to have it. He hid inside Arkham's museum that night and stole the book. The moment he made contact with it, a burning, stinging pain shot through his arm. Alarms went off, and he ran out of there with the leather-bound book underneath his jacket.

The gang realized soon what Damian was capable of when he showed them the book and the gnarly scar on his entire left arm. Reading a passage about small larvae creatures the size of a house cat, he found his arm itching like some bad case of poison oak, only to see it glowing and in a poof, there was the accursed critter. Shocked, in awe, and disgusted, the crew began experimenting with the stolen tome, all together abandoning D&D and began calling themselves the Arkham-Salem Cult.

After discovering that Damain can 'render the veil' between 'Here and There,' the gang began to perform rituals and magics that once drove men to madness, invoking the names of ancient gods whose worship was long forbidden. It was not long till they paid for their sins. Damain's hunger for knowledge and power would be the catalyst that ended the Cult's reign of power; abusing magic to beat bullies in fights or getting perfect grades, but more so the summoning of spirits and casting spells for selfish, nearly vile reasons. Harming bullies, passing tests, making others look up to and envy them.

Halloween, they broke into an abandoned house in Arkham. Crystal had suggested, that since the Veil was thin on this day, they should try and summon something big. Having his ego stroked that he was capable of such a feat, Damian tried to summon an Elder God. With Damian at the Spirit Point, Gwendolyn on the Water Point, Stephen on the Air Point, Jasper on the Earth Point and Crystal Chase on the Fire Point; they began their diabolical act. Candles were the only source of light in the damp basement of the foreclosed building.

"Hooam a'aum oarr, hooam a'aum maos, ra'mcs a'r ho oafaiyss oac orlniy snoao! Wo oarr iya'au homo, a has nroao! Biy ho oaao maos, faiy ho nmarloar a'ghauo, a'rlo a'll, a'h coamnn a'o! Biy ho rlaghh a'r rarro, faiy ho na'llom a'r a'o, ro a fao ca'o!"

[Melodic 3, Chaotic Shiny Language Mixer]

Hear our call, hear our cries, lords of the abyss and empty space! We call you here, in this place! By the ancient rites, by the primal tongue, come now, oh dark one! Lord Ddhat-gga of the Forbidden Flames, we invite thee here, come now, appear unto us, magicians of the lost arts! May the circle be open, yet never broken! By the might of five, by the power of one, let it be done!

In a flash of silver light, a portal appeared, burning bright, much like how Damian's veins once did. From is spewed forth purple and blue flames, the god Ddhat-gga. No one knows what went wrong, but the portal would not close and soon there was a bright flash of blue. The building was torn apart and Gwen watched in horror as her cousin, Stephen, was flung across the room on fire, blue fire. As her life faded away, she gave one last breath in protest: "No..." Crystal screamed as she caught fire, and Jasper mimicked the scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark where the Nazis opened the Ark of the Covenant, only to have their faces melt off.

His friend's bodies were found, half charred, the morning after. Damian was the only one alive. It was blamed on candles being too near the gas furnace. 120 aberrations escaped in that ritual, powerful, terrible demons. And Damian was to blame.

The following year, he disappeared, ran away across the country to California. His parents didn't notice, a side effect due to his heavy exposure to magic radiation. Here, he met Ariadne Septimus, a spy for Lilith - none other than Gwendolyn Argent, alive and well, and possessed by Lust, who was entrapped in a large sapphire prison that shattered upon the botched summoning. Ariadne fell in love with the homoflexable Damian, who fought against Lilith and her shoggoths as she freed her seven siblings: Wrath, encased in Ruby, Greed, sealed in Topaz, Envy frozen in Emerald, Gluttony locked up in Garnet, the twins of Sloth and Negligence trapped in Alexandrite, and Pride bound in Amethyst. Pride's offspring, Vainglory, was encased in a pillar of Tanzanite in our world rather than within the Void.

Gwen was promised the soul of Stephen in exchange for the soul of Damian, and this was her reason for turning evil, as their friends did not die per se, but have their spirits trapped in the Void. She turned four girls - "Lilim", a prostitute, "Isheth", a victim of domestic abuse, "Agrat", a would-have been rape victim if it weren't for Lilith, and "Naamah", a stripper, into her Succubi, with Naamah's younger brother becoming "Asmodai". She gave them power over the thing they were victims of - sex. After all her siblings were freed and inhabiting human bodies, they sought to erect a pillar of diamond and free their father/mother, but Damian and Ariadne stopped them, at the cost of Ariadne's sister. The tower fell, and Gwen tried to kill Damian, only to be mortally wounded. The demons were exorcised, which nearly killed Damian. Before he blacked out, he saw that his friends had returned. Content, Damian would have had no problem dying as he went unconscious.

Gwendolyn and Damian reconciled after their respective recoveries, and Damian finally admitted his feelings to Stephen, leaving Ariadne, who was in mourning. Crystal, Jasper, and Stephen possessed abilities of their own due to the mutations they received after having their DNA bombarded with aberrant radiation whilst trapped Beyond the Veil. Gwendolyn still possessed some dark magic from her time with Lust. After working together to amend for their collective sins - as Crystal and Jasper instigated the more advanced and selfish uses of magic, Damian "killing" his friends because he felt finally powerful by summoning a god, and Gwendolyn for nearly destroying America to salvage her cousin from damnation - the group parted ways, with Gwen returning to her job as a dominatrix in New York, an occupation Lust compelled her to pursue, Jasper moving back to Massachusetts to attend the Ivy League Miskatonic University, and Stephen and Damian went to go to Fallencrest, as the couple refused to be parted after going through so much.

Ddhat-gga should have been Dha-ugg, but due to a translation error, Ddhat-gga was written down instead. This might have been the variable which caused the Sapphire Incident.

Damian, pronounced DAY-mee-en is Greek for "To Tame." Gaius, GIE-us, is Latin for "Happy". Solomon, SAH-lah-mun, is Hebrew meaning "Peace," King Solomon commanded and subdue and tamed demons with his ring. Abdul is pronounced ab-DUL, and is Arabic for "Servant," in reference to Abdul Alhazred, the author of the Necronomicon. Dunwich, DUN-wich, is an English surname and means "From Dunwich" and is a town in Lovecraftian lore. Widdershins, pronounced WID-er-shinz, is German "To Go Against," a counter-clockwise or lefthandwise motion, opposed to Deosil, synonymous with tuathal, and is related to banishing or dark magic, as Deosil is to summon the Magic Circle and considered holy, whereas Widdershins is not, as the left hand and things related therefore are considered evil or unholy. His nicknames include: Gay, D-Man, Double D, DD, The Big D, The Gatekeeper and The Keymaster.

While originally diagnosed with schizophrenia, he was merely expressing the abilities he would later come to possess, as the trait to be a eldritch summoner is recessive and found solely in his family line. To become one, the previous summoner must have died, and the summoner-to-be must touch the original copy of the Necronomicon, that is, the one written on human hide, not any transcribed one kept in secret at various colleges, such as the Miskatonic or Harvard. An eldritch summoner can not control any eldritch he did not summon nor can he banish them back into the Void.

The Void possesses a world known as Eldritch, meaning "Other Realm" or "Strange, Foreign Kingdom." It was here that Crystal, Jasper, and Stephen were trapped for three years. Eldritch is a planet roughly 115% the size of Earth, with slightly greater gravity, and an atmosphere similar enough to allow captives from Earth to survive on the alien world. The climate ranges from polar regions similar to those of Earth, to equatorial conditions that are more humid and warmer than common conditions on Earth. The humidity level is high all across the globe, with low clouds and fog being common everywhere. Eldritch's flora and fauna are as diverse as those of Earth are but there seems to be a far greater percentage of predatory plants and animals.

There are no mammals or birds on Eldritch, but there are more reptilian creatures, carapaced creatures, insectoid (and of far greater size), arachnids, mollusks, and gelatinous creatures. Animals range from flying, snake-like creatures; to living gas bags with tentacles; to twelve-legged two-foot tall humanoids; to thirty-foot tall, pyramidal, jelly-like, supra-intelligent, floating creatures. Plants range in color from blue, to purple, to red, to yellow, to black, to gray, but there are no green plants. Fungi make up 80% of the vegetation. Some of the plants are fully mobile, and the majority of them are omnivorous, herbivorous, or carnivorous.

There are cities all across the planet, with some that are even greater in size and population than the cities of Earth. The technology of the abomination races is both inferior and superior to human technology in many respects. The architecture across the globe is bizarre, frightening, and unwholesome in an alien way. The psychological shock of visiting Eldritch could shut down the minds of many mortals. The cites vary greatly in design and purpose; there are: Gigeresque nightmares, chthonic breeding pits, cities of living machines, monolithic mound cities built in ant-hill fashion, hive-like complexes for monstrous spirits, and unholy, primordial places standing two miles high. The non euclidean geometry is enough to make one insane by merely looking at it, with their impossible angles and many dimensions.

The most unthinkable horror concerning Eldritch is that, like Earth's Gaia Hypothesis or Mother Nature, the planet is alive and fully conscious. Indeed, it may be said that Eldritch is a sentient, corrupt, predatory entity. According to myth, the goddess Barbelzoa is trapped within the core of the planet, and it is her consciousness that flows through Eldritch's leylines.

Damian's greatest weakness is anxiety and paranoia. Damian's increasingly severe anxiety regarding the safety of his loved ones has caused Damian to become quite paranoid in recent months, which typically causes him to be suspicious of any new person until they have proven themselves. While this paranoia is not always misplaced (such as his ultimately correct suspicion that Ariadne was not who she claimed to be), he does have a tendency to act on instincts rather than evidence, which can get him into trouble with those he believes to have malicious intentions, whether they are truly a threat or not. He is quick to jump to conclusions.

When she was 11 her parents were killed in a terrible fire, and she continued her life in a small village. Does Damian need a wand or any other pice of material?

He needs no material I can think of, but if you want to issue him a wand, it could work, and you asked me to pick his classes, and I asked how many were needed, which you never answered.
