Pkay362004 | 2 comments The book had a moral/Christian like theme and seemed to be set in 2020. It started with one brother in the US (ex military) who had been wounded and was missing an arm and an eye. He was living on his father's farm with his wife and his sister in law to be. His brother was stationed in France or Germany and was trying to get home to his family as the world's economy was failing. I read part of this book I think in 2014 (in paperback) as I was sitting in the doctor's office. I got to the chapter where the brother had made his way through several countries and then ended up in Spain or Mexico only to be ambushed as he was on his way to buy a horse to ride the rest of the way to Texas. That's as far as I got. I think the book was part of a series but for the life of me I can't locate or even remember the author's name. it was a good read and I would like to finish it. (I know... "Now?"). any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Pam

Pkay362004, I moved your request to the Unsolved folder because you're looking for a specific book.

``Laurie (laurielynette) James Wesley Rawles has written a series of books of this type. Your description reminds me of his first book "Survivors".

Andy Phillips | 240 comments This does indeed sound a lot like Survivors, although I thought that was the second book (after Patriots). I don't think the military guy was injured though, he was just making his way back to the US after serving in Iraq. I hope he was in Mexico when ambushed as riding a horse from Spain to Texas would be tricky.

Andy Phillips | 240 comments Excellent - glad you found it, Pkay.

Laurie, I'm sure you're right about the journey. That sounds familiar. I might well be mixing up elements of the two stories anyway.
