For those who have read Breathing Underwater, this book is a great follow-up. It has a lighter tone than its predecessor, but the story of a girl trying to make it in a fancy arts school is still gripping and full of emotion. Caitlin is moving on from her destructive relationship with Nick, but she still has shallow friends, competitive peers, and a seriously insecure mother to deal with. This book caught my attention right away because even though it was a sequel to Breathing Underwater, it's tone and style made this book completely its own. Flinn shows her ability as an author to write different stories and get into the heads of all kinds of protagonists, not just male anti-heroes. This book isn't very intense, but I'd still recommend it to people over the age of sixteen. And men, give it a try. This lady book isn't just for ladies.
