Renske | 12220 comments I can't remember if this was discussed before, but what should be the policy for the year of awards where the official date is not a single year and as we can only add a single year?

Most of those seems to be children's book awards who follow the school year and have a 2015-2016 edition and then a 2016-2017 edition. A few other awards are not awarded every year but every other year.

Should we choose the first of the last date? I have seen both and don't want to start editing without asking it here first.
I would say we use the last date, because that is generally the moment the award winner is announced.

Elizabeth (Alaska) I have been using the later date, but I don't think we have a policy and would be happy to see something definite. Thanks for asking, Renske.

Academic years are usually referred to by the first year. So 2015-16 is AY 2015.

(As opposed to fiscal years, which usually go the other way. So 2015-16 is FY 2016.)
