CeeCee James | 79 comments Hi everyone. Just sharing my memoir that's on kindle countdown. :) Have a good day!

Lucinda Clarke | 119 comments Ceecee, will you let me know if you think it is worth it dropping your price on Amazon, or having a give away? Thanks.

CeeCee James | 79 comments Lucinda, I have sold a lot of copies with the sale. Is that what you mean? :)

message 4: by Lucinda (new)

Lucinda Clarke | 119 comments Yes, I am wondering if it is a good idea to have a couple of free days or maybe drop my price for a short while? At the moment on amazon.co.uk it's £1.28 and on Amazon.com only $2.16. What would you advise Ceecee?

CeeCee James | 79 comments I think you have to raise the price (1.99) at amazon.uk to be able to lower it for a count down deal. I had to do that. I think the same might be true for Amazon (2.99 maybe?), but I might be wrong on that one.. Is it a stand alone book? Generally I've heard free is better for a series. But, just today, I heard of an author who had luck with it free. :) Hope that helps!

Lucinda Clarke | 119 comments Thanks, food for thought. I know I will cheerfully buy s book for under £2 and I based my original price on that - what I would be prepared to pay.

CeeCee James | 79 comments I get that. :) But Amazon says it has to be able to be discounted by so much (I can't remember the percentage) to be a count down. I know because I tried with my UK book, and it said it couldn't do a count down because it was already too low. But that's ok, you can do the free option still.

Lucinda Clarke | 119 comments If I give it away for free for a few days, what do you think the benefits are? Are we just looking for more readers to buy other books we write?

CeeCee James | 79 comments Yep- plus it gets your name out there a little more. You will have to let me know your results. Just remember to advertise your sale somehow. There are a few places to do it. That really helps.

Lucinda Clarke | 119 comments Thanks for the advice Ceecee. Any tips on the best sites to advertise a drop in price? I am considering this as I am just about to publish my second book, which is not a memoir but it will link my name of course.

CeeCee James | 79 comments It depends on your budget. You want to advertise with places that send emails to people wanting free deals on books. If you type in "free kindle books" there will be tons that pop up. Congrats on your upcoming book!!! I have two I am going in between, one on encouragement, and a fiction. What's your fiction about?

Lucinda Clarke | 119 comments Amie is about a 20 something, married, whose husband is posted to a ficticious African country. She settles in as an expat, but then gets into all sorts of trouble. they say write what you know and I spent almost 40 years in Africa. also made her a film maker, again, familiar territory. Then book three, I'm reverting to tales of the shoots I ws on in Africa, more memoirs. But, it takes more time marketing than writing these days! :(

CeeCee James | 79 comments I hear you! Sounds very interesting!

Lucinda Clarke | 119 comments Let me know if you are looking for reviews.

CeeCee James | 79 comments Thank you!

Lucinda Clarke | 119 comments I'll check it out.

Lucinda Clarke | 119 comments Hi Ceecee,
I've just downloaded your book. I glanced at the first page and it struck such a strong chord! My mother would not speak to me for days either. It was years and years before I found out about personality disorders etc. i will leave a review when I've read it.

CeeCee James | 79 comments Awww Lucinda you are so sweet! I'm sorry if my previous message seemed directed at you. I was bumping up this post. *big hug* I am so sorry your mom treated you that way.

Lucinda Clarke | 119 comments Not taken personally. If your book is a memoir, then you had a lousy childhood as well?

CeeCee James | 79 comments Yes, it's a true story. I wrote it hoping to encourage others who've slogged through past abuse, and remind them they aren't what anyone has called them. I have a blog called joyful living after child abuse. It's definitely a journey, but I've seen tons of beauty come from those ashes. :)

CeeCee James | 79 comments Ghost No More is on countdown @ .99! I learned many things this summer. One was what happens on a treadmill when the power goes out. Hope you are having a great summer, and please pick up Ghost No More for your end of summer reading. On sale now with Kindle countdown, and free with kindle unlimited*

Her Mom looked like a beauty queen and fooled the world. But behind closed doors life was different. All her daughter, CeeCee, wanted was just a touch of approval and love from her mother. That's all.

What she gets is neglect, homelessness, dirty secrets, and abuse. Yet, there must be a way out of the hopelessness and fear that would surely lead to her ultimate destruction - there had to be.

If she can only find the key.... the key that will open the door to love, trust, and the healing of broken places.

Holly Alastra | 25 comments Cee Cee, I see that you are on all kinds of online stores. Can you still do countdown deals with Amazon select when you offer in other places? I'm in KDP, but wondering if it would be better to put my book elsewhere. Thanks for any advice! Best wishes with your countdown deal!

Holly

CeeCee James | 79 comments I think the other online stores are intermediaries for the ebook. The paperback can be sold anywhere. I'm only published as an ebook on Amazon, through KDP. I've wondered the same thing!
