Janice (jamasc) | 60006 comments I saw spider monkeys when I was in Mexico. There were two of them and they were strolling along the path along with the guests. At first I wasn't sure what I was seeing. They were quite tall - thigh high. I held my hand out to one and he scampered away. Funny that they were so skitterish, yet strolling along the path with people. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me. :(

Sarah | 18550 comments Love your dog's name.

message 5: by Elsbeth (new)

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments Yes, I agree with Sarah! Really cool name!
Where does your mom live, Liz?

Why Swedish? Not that I don't agree, I think it's a good choice, just curious...;)

message 6: by Ariane (new)

Ariane | 947 comments I love cocker spaniels! Good name, too.

message 7: by Tasha (new)

Tasha I'm wondering about the Swedish choice too! It's just not what you normally hear people say. :)

message 8: by Liz (last edited Nov 22, 2016 06:40AM) (new)

Liz (lizvegas) | 504 comments Janice, threat would be so cool to see spider monkeys just roaming around!
For the longest time, I wanted a pet monkey, and I learned so much about what it meant to own one. Once I realized the huge commitment and the amount of space you needed for one, I kind of gave up on my plan.

We love our dog, Vader. Her name is especially cool because she's a girl. We are constantly having to correct people, so most of the time we call her "Vader girl" or "Lady Vader." I think I will forever have to have a cocker spaniel or two in my life, just love them!

Swedish---- I'm about 75% of Swedish descent. (My mom has just a bit of German on her side). So that's my reasoning for the language. If I was being completely honest, the first language that I would really like to learn is Japanese, but I already have two answers relating to Japan, so I went with Swedish :)

message 9: by Liz (new)

Liz (lizvegas) | 504 comments Ellsbeth,
My mom (and all of my family) lives in Illinois and I live in Nevada. We are about 2000 miles away, and I just don't get to see any of them on a regular basis. Thank goodness for technology!

message 10: by Tasha (new)

Tasha I was wondering if it was because you had some swede in your history. Very cool!

Janice (jamasc) | 60006 comments Liz wrote: "but I already have two answers relating to Japan, so I went with Swedish :) ..."

Hmmm.... speculating, I see.

message 14: by Tasha (new)

Tasha haha!!

message 15: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments I love pistachios, but have never tried pistachio ice cream. Now I'll have to look for some.

message 16: by Tasha (last edited Nov 27, 2016 05:44AM) (new)

Tasha It's really good. I've had pistachio gelato before and that is amazing!

message 17: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I love pistachio ice cream (especially Baskin Robbins' pistachio almond) but decided that chocolate would be a more simple answer. Now I can't figure out what book to read for it. I'm not sure pistachio will be easy either, but a light green cover may be easier to find than a brown one.

message 18: by Liz (new)

Liz (lizvegas) | 504 comments Cheri, I looooove chocolate, too, but went with the more obscure. Pistachio gelato and ice cream is so good! I just read that pistachios originated in Central Asia and the Middle East, so perhaps I will read a book set in one of those places for the task.

There is a book called Black, by Ted Dekker that has a perfect, light green cover. It's been on my tbr for a long time. So maybe I'll get to it in this challenge.

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

Liz- interesting choice of Anthony Bourdain, for the famous person you'd like to meet. Well, he probably would be an interesting person to talk to about his travels.

Good luck with your challenge. :-)

message 20: by Liz (new)

Liz (lizvegas) | 504 comments It was a toss up between Bourdain and Betty White!
I'd love to talk to Bourdain about all his travels and of course... FOOD!

message 21: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I finally found a book with a brown cover that I want to read, but there are lots more green ones, the correct pistachio color out there.

message 22: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I didn't pick him, but I would like meeting Bourdain too :)

I think I have 2 or 3 books with brown covers which I already owned, I added them to the question about eye colour (together with grey books).

What is the difference between icecream and gelato?

message 23: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments Gelato is the Italian word for ice cream, but they are different. I would say the main difference is the texture. To me gelato feels smoother and richer.

message 24: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I don't think we make that distinction here. It's just all ice cream. At least to me.

message 25: by Liz (new)

Liz (lizvegas) | 504 comments I'm glad I don't have to look for a brown book :)

Gelato vs. ice cream is a texture difference for me, too. Gelato is Silkier and smoother than ice cream.
The difference is gelato has less fat and is made with more milk than cream. Ice cream is churned more rapidly and thus has more air in it.

The Talenti Pistachio gelato is the bees knees!

message 26: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Oh, that makes my mouth water. I want to try that gelato!

message 27: by Liz (new)

Liz (lizvegas) | 504 comments Try it, Cheri! You won't be sorry!
(And let me know what you think)

message 28: by Tasha (new)

Tasha You are making me want gelato!!

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

Did someone mention gelato?? I am a non-dairy person but always make an exception for the important things in life, like gelato. A small portion is very satisfying! YUM!!

message 30: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) | 1302 comments Hmm I'll have to test out that pistachio ice cream too, I've always wondered about it, cuz my fave colour is green and I like green foods haha.

Monkeys are cute, you'd like me latest crochet creation then =]

33. Read a ghost story
I finished A Head Full of Ghosts A Head Full of Ghosts by Paul Tremblay

message 37: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60006 comments What did you think of it, Liz? I thought it was reminiscent of the old style ghost story.

message 38: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments I want to know too. I recently read it and quite liked it.

message 39: by Liz (new)

Liz (lizvegas) | 504 comments Hi Janice and Sarah! I didn't see your comments earlier.

I found A Head Full of Ghosts oddly entertaining and well-written. I didn't find it creepy- I had a strange obsession with The Exorcist when I was young. I used to watch it almost daily after school. Heh. I found this book reconnected me with my weirdness. :)

message 40: by Liz (new)

Liz (lizvegas) | 504 comments 2/12

40. read a book with the cover representing the colors od your favorite fruit.
Watermelon.

I read Mr. Splitfoot by Samantha Hunt Mr. Splitfoot. The combo of colors on the cover is almost watermelony. Certainly the green could represent watermelon rind.

message 41: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60006 comments That sounds bizarre- enough to add it to my wishlist. :)
