Like many others here, The Lightning Thief
- What is the myth the book is based on?
Greek Mythology
- Is your knowledge good about this myth? Not really. I remember studying it in elementary school and loving it but it's been years since then.
- Is there another mythology you'd like to explore? Hmm Chinese mythology would be new for me so that for sure.

- What is the myth the book is based on? Greek Mythology
- Is your knowledge good about this myth? Not really I know we heard some of it in school but other than names of some of the Gods I couldn't tell you much.
- Is there another mythology you'd like to explore? We shall see.

The Sword in the Stone
Based on the Arthur Legend
I know bits and pieces about this but there are so many different versions (especially on film) that I wanted to read more about it. I'd like to explore the rest of The Once and Future King trilogy, and Le Morte D' Arthur.
Like a lot of others I read American Gods this year, but for a different prompt as I felt it's not based on 'A' myth but several. I'd like to read more about the myths in that, plus I intend reading Norse Mythology next year. I think that will do for starters!

American Gods
- What is the myth the book is based on?
It actually covers several different myths from several different countries.

I knew about some of them, but others I have never heard of.
- Is there another mythology you'd like to explore?
Not that I can think of at this time.

The Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood
- What is the myth the book is based on?
Penelope, wife of Odysseus, hero of the Odyssey.
- Is your knowledge good about this myth?
I know the Odyssey quite well, but it doesn't say much about Penelope.
- Is there another mythology you'd like to explore?
I know quite a lot about mythology, thanks to a program on Swiss radio that explains different mythologies in a funny way. They already covered Greek, Nordic, Slavic, Indian and Mayan mythologies. Since I moved to New Zealand I got interested in Maori and Pacific Islands mythology.

Two books for me for this category: the seemingly Challenge wide pick American Gods by Neil Gaiman and Bright Air Black by David Van..."
which one did you like and would recommend?

- What is the myth the book is based on? Capaill Uisce or water horse. It's not clear for me from which culture is originally, but I think it comes from Scottish/Celtic folklore.
- Is your knowledge good about this myth? Not at all, it was the first time I heard about this myth. Well, I know about the monster of Loch Ness, but I don't think of him as a waterhorse, although I found some articles that talked about him in that way. So, I should read more :P
- Is there another mythology you'd like to explore? I have always enjoyed the Greek mythology and I am interested in the Norse mythology too.

Silence Fallen by Patricia Briggs.

When They Severed Earth from Sky: How the Human Mind Shapes Myth by Elizabeth Wayland Barber

I've always heard about the universality of myth, but this book offers a new theory, based on the psychology of the brain. Fascinating!
