Hi, everyone! I'm really hoping someone can help me out. I'm looking for a book series from my childhood(I want to read threw them again and see if I should read them to my little one along with all my other childhood books) and Google has proved useless to me in my spare time the past few days. I'm not sure how many books were in the series but I'm really sure it was a series of books and not just a one shot.

I was reading the book back in the late 1990's, possibly very early 2000's. Could have easily been published back in the 1980's though (I was really young and didn't care much as far as book publishing dates went). I do not remember much about the book, title or author. I do remember the main character was an alien boy(I think on a cover he was purple with a sucker like antenna?) and the cover art was of the alien boy, regularly scowling. I'm 90% sure the book was all about him growing up and learning to deal with misc situations. I remember he was always very moody. What grabbed me towards the books in the library were the fact the author used made up words in the book (I loved books with weird slang or strange words)

I know it's very little information, but if anyone can help at ALL, I'd be so grateful!

LauraW (lauralynnwalsh) | 370 comments I loved the Matthew Looney books as a kid, but I would consider them middle grade books, not YA. Bruce Coville's books would seem to be closer to YA.
