A book with a red spine
Therese wrote: "This is one I will have to pass on since I read on my Kindle only, unless someone has some ideas?"'
I may just wander the stacks at the library until I see an interesting book with a red spine. Unless my overcrowded shelves at home give something up first
Books I have with red spines (and all non-fiction)
The Tao of Pooh
Creativity, Inc.: Overcoming the Unseen Forces That Stand in the Way of True Inspiration
The Intelligent Investor
Some books I've got with a red spine in my bookshelf (not all of them have red covers and not all with red covers has red spines): Lost Souls - Poppy Z. Brite
The Little Stranger - Sarah Waters
The Quantum Thief - Hannu Rajaniemi
Spy the Lie: Three Former CIA Officers Reveal Their Secrets to Uncloaking Deception - Philip Houston
Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close - Jonathan Safran Foer
The Uncommon Reader - Alan Bennett
I was surprised how many books (other than Christmas books) do not have red spines on my shelf. There are some Library of America books that do, but they nearly all contain multiple books, so instead I'm going to (finally) read Out of the Garden: Women Writers on the Bible, and then I can give it to my daughter-the-minister!
I picked one off my shelf for this as the easiest way to know the colour so I'm reading The Crimson Petal and the WhiteAlso since it probably the longest book in my list I've decided to tackle it first. About 1/5 of the way though and very much enjoying it so far!

Half Bad by Sally Green
An Abundance of Katherines by John Gree..."Your Red Rising has a red spine?? Lucky! My paperback edition is black with red letters :( Thinking of using that one for the Debut Novel task instead!
I'm quite annoyed because I've wanted to read Wolf Hall for a while, and having it fit a category would be a great motivation, but the spine on my edition is mostly black with only red text... Trying to decide if that counts for me or not...Here's are some books from my shelves that qualify (and that I liked) (and that aren't by John Green since those are already in the thread)
The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet
Almost Like Being in Love (I have this edition, the cover is yellow but the spine is red)
Deathless (also good for the mythology category)
Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda
The Secret Lives of Princesses
(I have this one in French, but I assume the spine is red in English too?)
And the other ones are mostly Vintage Classics ^^
(trying again with the covers this time...)
Looking through my pile of unread books, I found that a book that I bought on a whim at a used book sale also has a red spine. Since I think it will be easier to cover the used book sale book (I go all the time), I'm going to be reading A Century of Wisdom: Lessons from the Life of Alice Herz-Sommer, the World's Oldest Living Holocaust Survivor. It also fits my tentative theme of reading about underrepresented, mistreated or unheard voices -- this one is about a holocaust survivor and has been surprisingly uplifting because of her attitude about everything she's been through in her life.
I'm reading Love Warrior for this prompt! I actually just saw that it had a red spine in the book store and then went home and downloaded it to my Kindle. It's an Oprah pick, and I try to read them when I can!
I know most people have already started but in case someone still needs an idea, Omens by Kelley Armstrong has a red spine (little bit of black too but it works in my opinion ha-ha). You would've think it does because the cover is not red at all but the spine is. Her books are great, especially if you enjoy gothic fantasy but modern.
I've just crossed this prompt off my list for Book 2 of the challenge. I chose The Diabolic by S J Kincaid. Very fast paced, I read it within four days (I think), would have been less if I didn't have to work for a living... Pesky job!

"I read that book last year with my boyfriend and absolutely loved it! It is a great read!
I just started this prompt my third this year...and I'm reading Behind Closed Doors. Have heard good reviews and can't wait to get started.
Krista wrote: "I just started this prompt my third this year...and I'm reading Behind Closed Doors. Have heard good reviews and can't wait to get started."I'm reading this one for a bestseller in a genre I don't normally read (psychological thrillers, which I avoid for a reason). Sure enough, not even 100 pages in and it's already messing me up.
I'm very decided on Hag-Seed for this task, though. Excited to read it.
I went to there library today and just grabbed a book with a red spine so I'm reading The Girl in the Red Coat by Kate Hamer.
Does anyone happen to know if The Storied Life of AJ Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin has a red spine? Thanks!
I'll be reading Maestra
for this prompt. It's a library book that I borrowed before I knew I would be participating in this year's challenge let alone that one of the prompts was a book with a red spine.
I just read March: Book One yesterday - had no idea it had a red spine! (Although it WAS mentioned here before, I just missed it.) I didn't intend for this to be a Challenge book, but I ended up using it for this category. Because, why not?
This book would also work for:
book with pictures
author of color
multiple authors
two time periods

I completed this task with the appropriately red-covered "The Russia House"by John le Carre.Excellent story, too!
My copy of The End of Mr. Y and my copy of Gods Behaving Badly both have red spines and I loved both of them if people are still looking....I'm reading Poppy Shakespeare for this, as have been meaning to get to it it for ages and mine is red - yay! :)
For this I'm going to read
. I saw the trailer for this movie and just knew that I had to find a way to add it to my list
Hiw about...Eldest the second novel in the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini
I'm filing The Social Animal: The Hidden Sources of Love, Character, and Achievement by David Brooks for this one, since the edition I read has a red spine.
I'm using The Underground Railroad for this prompt, even though the group read has it lined up for a different category.
Fear and Loathing in Vegas by Hunter S. ThompsonBee Season by Myra Goldberg
The Hour I first Believed by Wally Lamb
Sula & Jazz by Toni Morrison
Precious and Grace, the latest book in the Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency series has a read spine and is a thoroughly enjoyable read.
I picked up Skipping Christmas from my school's library. Our copy has a red cover and spine. I love John Grisham, so I figured it would be an easy read. I'm slugging through it though, to be honest. I'm glad it's short.
Looking in my bookcase, I could have chosen Lord of the Rings, which I love and have read multiple times, but I don't have time. So I chose The Haunted Bookshop by Christopher Morley. The spine is a faded red with the title in a tan box. I'm counting it as my book with a red spine.
For this prompt I read Dorothy Must Die. I did not realize it had a red spine until over halfway through. I was so excited because I hadn't seen many other books with red spines that interested me. This was a pretty good book (I gave it 4 stars) and would suggest it for anyone who enjoys fairy tale retellings, YA, or just for an easy read.
I'm going to go with Howard Zinn's "A People's History of the United States" for this one. Its been on my shelf forever waiting to be read and it has a red spine!
Kelly- People's History is great! Probably best read along with another book- it's a series of essays, so not great for continuous reading (my opinion, anyway).
I wandered the fiction section at the library and grabbed one of the first red-spined books I saw-- This Must by the Place by Kate Racculia. It was interesting and good, and not something I would have picked up otherwise. I do the challenge to get myself to explore books not already on my TBR list so this was great for that.
I read Maybe in Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid.I had been dying to read it and when I finally picked it up at the bookstore, I was thrilled to see it had a red spine to fit this category.

I think that Kindle readers can still read books that have red sp..."
Oops I took this as you thought you couldn't read it unless you had an actual book with a red spine, not that you weren't sure which books had red spines. so sorry! lol
