Leslie (lesliedh) | 4 comments Can anyone tell me which site Dustydigger migrated to? I was on Library Thing with her, but don't remember where she and others moved when that site shut down.

nx74defiant | 7 comments You seem to have things a little confused. I think you mean Leaf Marks as the site that shut down.

Library Thing is still in operations. Check librarything.com for some of the people you are looking for.

Dustydigger moved to Library Thing which is still up.

message 4: by Kristel (new)

Kristel (kristelh) | 77 comments You can find Dustydigger in the Green Dragon on LibraryThing. If you are a member click on talk tab and you should see her thread. She is active there.

LibraryCin | 196 comments Leslie, are you on LibraryThing? Dusty has her own group there, but it may be private.

Maybe someone who is friends with Dusty on LT could invite her to check in with the SHELFARIANs group on that site. I don't think I've seen here there.

I contacted Dusty and she is not on Good Reads but is active on LibraryThing and if Leslie would like to join LibraryThing, she would be glad to have contact with her and join her group.

There is a Shelfarians group on Library Thing, and I don't think she is a member there.

Leslie (lesliedh) | 4 comments Thanks everyone. I reconnected over at Library Thing. Now I just need to figure everything out.

LibraryCin | 196 comments Glad to hear you've reconnected! If you want help at LT, the Shelfarians group there is here:

Laurie (laugal) where is everyone?

message 14: by LibraryCin (new)

LibraryCin | 196 comments Laurie wrote: "where is everyone?"

My guess is many shelfarians have found their shelfari friends and are more used to how to do things here, so the group isn't as active, anymore.

I second Library Cin's response ... but I DO miss the contact here.

message 16: by Anita (new)

Anita (anitaunmuted) | 15 comments Hi. I mainly keep up with other Shelfarians on LT. I did for a while on LeafMarks as well until it shut down. I had been here since 2011, but had been on Shelfari since 2008. I was rarely here unless an author asked me to review something here. GR has never been my thing, but especially after the amazon fiasco. So, people may be in other groups, but some may also be on other sites. :)

message 17: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (dlopezgirl83) I still have the layout and convo sections here, so unfortunately I only keep track of tbr, goals, etc. I miss the interaction but only have time too get out the app which I feel isn't the best for convos.

I am still getting used to the conversation posts here on GR. I am so glad I have reconnected with many Shelfari friends! I know Marguerite is back!

Dosha (Bluestocking7) Beard (bluestocking7) | 160 comments I have figured out the basics, and I mean Very basic. It takes too much time for me to learn about all of the different shortcuts, tricks and ins and outs of this site so I am limited in what I know how to do. To be selfish, I wish it were not so very complicated to operate. To be truthful, this set up has a very forward thinking technology that is going to withstand the test of time, which is a good thing because I need to have somewhere to log my books. Eventually, I hope to navigate it way better than I do now. Not for nothing, but I still miss that wooden bookshelf on Shelfari. I guess I'm just sentimental.

Dosha (Bluestocking7) Beard (bluestocking7) | 160 comments It may not be obvious but while trying to fix my typos, I accidentally posted. So there you go, I won't be back for awhile.

message 22: by Anita (new)

Anita (anitaunmuted) | 15 comments Oh, you make me giggle, Dosha. :)

message 23: by PennyD (new)

PennyD (goodreadscomgreymowser) | 6 comments I agree with you Dosha, GR is too techno complicated and a cold program. Shelfari was fun. I enjoyed it. I managed to figure out a number of the ins and outs of GR but find it kind of useless. I don't like the trolling that happens and have not found any groups that I find interesting. I basically use it as a giant wish list and have almost closed my account many times. I use LibraryThing, like it better, but it still doesn't compare to Shelfari. And I'm sure neither of these programs will.

Dosha (Bluestocking7) Beard (bluestocking7) | 160 comments Now that I'm on this site using a desktop, I can make edits. I will scroll up and fix what I could not fix on my handheld device. Many features are missing from the mobile site.

I agree, Penny. Shelfari was just the greatest. I was happy when I found it. But, LibraryThing is where I hang my hat now. I haven't done one thing, not one, on this site since my last review a few years ago and I don't intend to- unless another author asks me
to and I'm willing to. LOL. I'm just not a fan of this site especially after how Shelfari was gutted.

Dosha (Bluestocking7) Beard (bluestocking7) | 160 comments I have heard many good things about LT, but I don't have the discretionary time or patience to learn another site. Switching back and forth between the two would drive me crazy. If I get totally fed up here and stop using GR, then I'll look into LT.

message 27: by Leslie (new)

Leslie (lesliedh) | 4 comments I miss Shelfari so much. Instead, I spend too much time on Facebook. And without all the great recommendations from my Shelfari friends, I even find it hard to choose books anymore. I've ended up with some real duds. Ah, for the good ole days.

Dosha (Bluestocking7) Beard (bluestocking7) | 160 comments Leslie, have you been able to find your Shelfari friends here on Goodreads?

FYI, there's a menu option on the app where you can switch to the desktop view. I used it on my iPhone and iPad. Can't stand the app.

message 30: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 286 comments Shelfari was a special community. I miss it.

I've created a couple of groups here that got started on Shelfari and they've grown, adding many new people who weren't on the old site. I'm enjoying my time here but will always have nostalgia for my former community.

Dosha (Bluestocking7) Beard (bluestocking7) | 160 comments Thanks Jonetta. You are a peach! One of the main reasons I have not given up on using GR is because Jonetta will hang in there with me until I finally get it right, no matter what.

message 32: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 286 comments I will never give up on you! Love how you're willing to at least try.

Dosha (Bluestocking7) Beard (bluestocking7) | 160 comments Where is the option to switch to the desktop view?

message 34: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 286 comments On your app, the menu tab should be on the upper left. If you click it, you should see "switch to desktop." Click it and voila!

Dosha (Bluestocking7) Beard (bluestocking7) | 160 comments Oh well, that does not appear on my android tablet. That's okay. I'll try it on my iPod touch when I get to wifi. Thanks for the tip.

A number of the Shelfari groups have landed here and many of your friends may be already participating.

I'm sure I've said it before, but I'm in agreement with Penny. I'm getting more used to both LT and GR, though, as I still have one very active group that moved here. It's the one main group I keep up with here.

LibraryCin | 196 comments Jonetta wrote: "FYI, there's a menu option on the app where you can switch to the desktop view. I used it on my iPhone and iPad. Can't stand the app...."

There are very few apps (are there any!?) that I prefer to the regular desktop website, GR included. I don't have a smartphone, but I do use a tablet sometimes and (as long as I'm not forced to use the app), I choose to use the actual website every time.

Oh, I remember Marie .... I think she had to rely on her son (son in law?) to help her set up her account. I thought she DID migrate ... but maybe I'm mistaken.

Marie

I think this may be she ....

I think it may she as well. Thanks! I sent a friend request. I'll let you know.I think I remember the macular degeneration, which may explain why she is not as active. It is nice to know she is not forgotten! So nice to see the nice messages in response.

I agree, Julie!

message 49: by Kristel (new)

Kristel (kristelh) | 77 comments I miss the bookshelves, the tags, and I miss how the discussion threads worked. It is not as easy to find books that fit a tag here at GR. It is not easy to get into good discussions about books, but we are making it work over at Reading 1001.

message 50: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Beers (goodreadscomsharonanneb) | 25 comments I agree, Kristel. Goodreads is a poor substitute for Shelfari. :-(
