I read this book around 7 years ago. A young man has magic abilities, he adventures with a princess who's parents are killed by a different nation that invaded? I don't remember the main plot or what they are trying to accomplish but I know that towards the end they have to find a way to destroy ships that are invading from another country. There is a map in the first few pages of the book. There is a poem that is read towards the middle/end of the book that goes along the lines of "I will see you there, across the distant sea" something like that... A friend I asked thinks it is The sword of Shannarah.. This may be it but I don't think it was. The title had something to with a princess, or a sword or something of that nature. Could it be the Seer and the Sword? I've tried to google it but I haven't had any luck. Please help!
