Task 30.5 - Dlmrose's Task: This and that, then this or that

Read 2 books, one book 1 and one book 2

Book 1: Read a book with a title or subtitle that contains an “and” coordinating conjunction phrase: “[word] and [word]”. Ampersands “&” are considered “and” for this task.

Book 2: Using the “and” phrase from Book 1, read a book whose title begins with one of the words joined by the “and” as described below. Words must match exactly.
Use the word immediately preceding the “and”
OR
Use the word following the “and”. If the word is an article (the, a, an) you must also use the word that follows the article.

Example

Book 1: A Court of Thorns and Roses.
Book 2’s title must begin with “Thorns” or “Roses”

Book 1: The Rose and the Thorn.
Book 2’s title must begin with “Rose” or “The Thorn”

Book 1: An Officer and a Spy.
Book 2’s title must begin with “Officer” or “A Spy”

Emily | 782 comments Will it work if the "and" is used in a list? For example, could I use Life, the Universe and Everything and then read a book starting with "Universe" or "Everything"?

message 6: by Pia (new)

Pia I think these might work:

Dead & Buried (Calladine & Bayliss, #5) by Helen H. Durrant

Dead & Buried

Buried Crimes
Buried Crimes (DCI Sophie Allen, #4) by Michael Hambling

Suzanne (perletwo) | 1586 comments Does the word for Book 2 have to match exactly, or would plurals or other conjugations work?

For example, say I've picked Flesh and Bone as my Book 1. Could I use 206 Bones for Book 2, or would it have to be something like, say, The White Bone to satisfy the task?

message 14: by Fandury (new)

Fandury | 957 comments Would somethig like this work?

Book 1: Jane and the Prisoner of Wool House

Book 2: Jane and the Ghosts of Netley

message 15: by Bea (new)

Bea I had Snow and Ice and Snow Falling on Cedars, but I wasn't really excited about Snow and Ice.

So, I think I will change to Dipped, Stripped, and Dead with Dead Silence with book #2.

ETA

No, the task says "Words must match exactly."

Your book 2 title would need to begin with Flesh or Bone.

It looks like DLMRose's answer got italicized by mistake! I think she was saying "book 2 title must begin with "Flesh" or "Bone" nothing else "

If I read Lost & Found for book 1
then I can read Lost for Book 2?
