Finished it and loved the book! (view spoiler)[ i wished that somehow Greg and Earl both would study together and be friends,but this book is nothing like i expected and i just loved it ! and i am glad that the end wasn't emotional when Rachel died,and she wasn't in the book most of the time. i had great time reading this amazing book! Chapter 6: Very quirky so far. This seems like it'll be a funny read, which is refreshing for a book about cancer.

Haha! This chapter is freaking HILARIOUS! I felt like I was a guy too, while reading Greg's failed girl tactics! And yep, they are all true. Hahaha. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 13: (view spoiler)[I know they keep saying that their film sucks, but I love the innocence, and all the effort they went through just to create their favorite film. I mean, I'm not making fun of the ridiculousness, I love reading about them realize that it wasn't easy, and the stuff they need to really create and produce a film: characters, dialogues, settings, costumes, the shooting part and of course, BUDGET. Chapter 15: (view spoiler)[I can't even describe Greg's way of thinking. It's kind of weird and insane but kinda genius and funny and interesting but is also sometimes corny and sarcastic and ignorant. Hahaha. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 17: (view spoiler)[SRSLY? Did that teacher do it on purpose or... Idk, he's just that stoned? I don't even know what he contributes to the story. Why does he even exist? I don't care enough about his appearance, except him being their source of drugs. Drugs. On soup. Huh.
So far, I am not getting sucked in the wholeness of this plot. I'm kinda lost now. (hide spoiler)]

Kind of late, but just started and I like the way Greg tells the story. Can't say much about it until now

(view spoiler)[ In Chapter One, we learn that Greg is the narrator of the story. Greg is apart of every group and doesn't have real friends. In Chapter Two, it is the first day of senior year and the groups are trying to find their territories. In Chapter Three, Greg talks about his failed girl tactics. In Chapter Four, Greg lets us know where those girls are. In Chapter Five, Greg finds out from his mom that Rachel has been diagnosed with leukemia. In Chapter Six, Greg calls Rachel but doesn't know what to say. (hide spoiler)]

This is an interesting point of view. I like the way Greg is telling the story. This brings me back to High School. I also like how Greg sets up the scenes. It is like reading a script for a movie, musical, or a play.

I am through Chapter 6 and I am looking forward to reading more of this book!

(view spoiler)[ Greg finally hangs out with Rachel. He hangs out with her multiple times. We learn more about Earl. Earl and Greg met in kindergarten. They watched a movie and then starting creating ones of their own. Greg starts to be around Rachel at school. He thinks he is becoming her friend, which he doesn't really want to have friends. Mr. McCarthy is another character we meet as readers. He is an interesting teacher to say the least. (hide spoiler)]

I have mixed feelings about this book 17 chapters in. Greg, in my opinion, does seem to talk like a stereotypical high school boy.

Chapter 27: (view spoiler)[ I think it was only at this point that the real plot ACTUALLY STARTS. The rest were introductions to all the characters' past, families and personalities. Guess it dragged a bit longer, but Andrews might just want us to read more about how Greg narrates. I'm excited to see what the film will be about. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 34: (view spoiler)[Well.. that was a lot of cussing, but Earl's right. Rachel was the only person Greg has closest to a friend, and it wasn't just him who SPOILED the surprise though, Rachel's mom and friends, too. It was time to stop being embarrassed and feeling like Rachel's a burden. I admit that I hated Greg for lying to Rachel a lot of times just to make her feel better, but I applaud Earl for making him realize that! Huh. I really thought he was just there to be the MC's best friend. A position, no more no less. It's actually mind-blowing. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 39: (view spoiler)[I actually want Greg to REPHRASE what he all said in Rachel the Film, and now realizing that she's going to die, I appreciated more of him, seeing him realize what it should have been about, and what this whole thing means. Oh wow. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 40: (view spoiler)[One of the rare times we've read about Earl having outbursts like that, and it makes me think, behind all that family chaos and his cussing and smoking, he was actually a logical and intelligent person, as any. Seeing him talk like that makes my heart soften. I love this friendship! (hide spoiler)]

I finished this book last Friday. I don't know what to make of it, yet. I feel like there's nothing special about it...

I finally finished this book. I had to force myself through parts of this book.

Chapters 23-29:
(view spoiler)[ Greg's parents talked to him about college. He doesn't even want to go. Mr McCarthy met with Greg and told him about his grades. Mr McCarthy gave him a hug. Madison asked Greg to make a film for Rachel. Started with Plan A. They decided it was like a greeting card. (hide spoiler)]

Chapters 30-40:
(view spoiler)[ Tried Plan B (interview/old pictures), Plan C (sock puppets), and Plan D (animation). Greg found out that Earl told Rachel about the film and is mad. The guys try Plan E (look at the camera and talk). Ended up putting them all together and giving it to Rachel. The students ended up seeing the film at a pep rally. The kids didn't like the film very much. Greg stopped hanging out with Earl and going to school. Rachel ended up dying and Greg wanted to apply to film school like Rachel asked him to. I have mixed feelings about this book. I liked the humor, but I do not know what to make of it. The ending, to me, felt thrown together. It just ended.

My basic thing is if I can finish a book then it is at least two stars. I actually found it kinda funny. But I honestly found nothing wonderful or outstanding. I always love to tell my friends about what books I read recently and I cant think of anything to mention to them about this one

I'm 6 chapters in and I keep laughing. I thought this was going to be like a john Green book but its so much more ATM. Greg and Earl just seem like normal average Joe's living life, crack-en jokes, being real. I love that. Books need more of that. I want to feel like I'm observing more then listening, if that makes sense.

At least his jokes are funny. it would suck if they weren't. The last section for me fell dry. I think I built up what I thought the end would be and well it just didn't meet it. I think that my fault though. (hide spoiler)]
