Geoff (geoffgreer) Please keep all discussion and speculation to the events of Part 2: Chapters 8-15

No spoiler tags required. Though it would be highly appreciated if you Uncheck Add to my Update Feed to avoid accidentally spoiling things for your good read friends.

Please do not discuss events from later sections. Referring back to events from a previous section/book is fine.

Geoff (geoffgreer) The book is losing me a bit in this part.

The letters between the two people in the Fortress gives us an inside POV but I'm not sure its adding much. And I think there have been sections from the POV of the infantry that they landed in the Fortress. But that's never made clear, and besides, we were never introduced to any of that away team. Its really hard to care when you don't know who they are or what their grand mission is (although, part of it was taking a communications post).

I still like the combination of Cheris and Jedao. Jedao is nuts but brilliant. You can see a change in Cheris' leadership but I'm not sure if thats just her trying to live up to Jedao's expectations or 'bleed-through' from Jedao. I'm interested to see if there is some sort of conspiracy that is working against them.

Also, I'm still waiting for information on the calendar 'science'.

Ctgt | 629 comments It seemed like some of those POV were almost throwaways, I guess they expanded the picture a bit but you're right Geoff, it was hard to give a crap.
The Cheris/Jedao duo was the most fascinating part of the whole book. I enjoyed trying to figure out how they interacted and/or were influenced by each other, who was making the decision and on what basis.

I like the stuff with Cheris and the servators. She seems to have a deeper insight about them than anyone else, and they in turn seem to have an affection for her.

They are protecting her from being spied on for one thing.

I don't know how to feel about Jedao at this point. I don't know if's he simply conning Cheris or what.
