It depends for me. If I find a book that I love that already is a completed series I finish the whole thing in a couple days. Vampire Academy is a prime example. But then I started reading Bloodlines and I finished all of them except the last one, so I'm desperately waiting for that one now.
I like waiting for the series to be done before reading it :) in the mean time, I can read awesome standalones!
I usually don't find out about series until after all of the books are out, minus a few (the Lunar Chronicles & Harry Potter, for example), so it's not a problem. I just marathoned the Lunar Chronicles even though Winter isn't coming out until next year and I'm dying to know what happens! If a series sounds really interesting, I don't think I have enough patience to wait until it's completed to read all of the books lol.
I read Cinder a while ago and had no idea it was a series. So I'm going to water for Winter and read them all :)
Good idea I've read all of the ones that came out, so now I'm going absolutely crazy for Winter
I read Hunger Games & Catching Fire, then forgot them so I have to reread them to read Mockingjay
Same happened with harry Potter
