The Black Blade young adult urban fantasy series focuses on Lila Merriweather, a 17-year-old thief who lives in Cloudburst Falls, West Virginia, a town dubbed “the most magical place in America.” Tourists come from around the world to tour all the magic-themed shops and attractions, as well as see monsters like tree trolls, copper crushers, and more in their natural habitats. Lila has a Talent for sight, along with transference magic — in other words, magic makes her stronger. To survive, she does odd jobs for her pawnbroker friend. Lila also does her best to stay off the grid and avoid the Families — or mobs — who control much of the town. But when she saves a member of the powerful Sinclair Family during an attack, Lila finds herself caught in the middle of a brewing war between the Sinclairs and the Draconis, the most powerful Family in town.

Sandra | 4734 comments Loved the Mythos Academy books, Bigtime was OK, haven't yet tried Black Blade, though I've got a couple of them and of course Gin Blanco in Elemental Assassins ... really enjoy those ones, though I'm not up to date.

So I've got a couple of books to read for AOM :)

Tina Bartz | 678 comments I have read all the Mythos Academy books and I am up to date on the Elemental Assassin books, since I just finished Unraveled this week. I have not read the Bigtime or Black Blade series.

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments I read the first one in the Bigtime series but my library does not carry them and I am not in love with them enough to buy it.

As for Gin Blanco I am so far behind, like six books!

As far as the Elemental series I am just really glad she stopped repeating herself so much like she did in the earlier books. I think I may try and get in a few Elemental books and maybe Cold Burn of Magic. I hate YA but this one looks interesting.

message 5: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Sandra | 4734 comments I'm definitely not a YA fan but I really enjoyed Mythos and I didn't even realise Cold Burn was YA. LOL.

Tina Bartz | 678 comments Mythos Academy Bundle First Frost, Touch of Frost, Kiss of Frost & Dark Frost (The Mythos Academy) by Jennifer Estep is on sale for $2.99 for Kindle and Nook through 12/04/2016. Y'all might already know because it is a Goodreads deal but thought I'd post here in case anybody was interested.
Addendum: It is also this price on Google.

Sandra | 4734 comments Thanks Tina, I for one had no idea as Goodreads Deals are only for the US people.

You are welcome.

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Read Cold Burn of Magic and I was pleasantly surprised. It was a really good story. Having said that it reminded me a lot of Gin which is a bit unfortunate.

Monica Hills | 15 comments I picked up my first Jennifer Estep Elemental Assassins's novel several years ago and thought it was ok but I wasn't hooked. Recently I picked up the second novel in the Elemental Assassins and I'm loving them. I would encourage anyone to keep reading. I feel like the series gets better and better the more I read.
