SOLVED. MG (probably) fiction book in which a boy goes on a journey and at some point has his eyes replaced with glass?? crystal?? stone?? [s]

I'm sorry that this is so vague, but those are genuinely the only things I clearly remember. I think it might be set in 'this world', as in the boy is a normal boy, but somehow is in a separate dimension or the world he is in is somehow parallel to our world? I don't remember anything about the conflict, but at some point, his eyes are damaged and they're replaced with some sort of other material, most likely glass. I hope someone can help me find this book.

I'm sorry, but i don't think this is it. i have a feeling that the circumstances around the eye switching was more serious. I might add the YA genre to the criteria since I'm not really sure of the age group this book was supposed to be for.

I'd say it is possible solved, I'd need to re-read the books fi4st before I can confirm, however, considering Juniper, I do believe that there is a good chance this is the answer. Thank you so much again.

My first thought was 'From the Corner of His Eye' by Dean Koontz.
