A very good read. I'm almost annoyed with myself for not saving it for my vacation in January. But then in December, I need fun and easy books."

My husband suggested this to me yesterday; he really liked it too. Not sure if I'll get to it this month though. I'm still reading American Gods, and then there is a Christmas anthology I'd like to read next.

Oh nice! I just bought it earlier this week! Really looking forward to reading it! :D

Bianca van Willigenburg (biancavw) | 1752 comments Sabriel by Garth Nix.
A great read, the series has definitely been added to my active list. I think I'll save the next book (my friend's favourite of the series) for my vacation.

Now onward with the latest installment of the Sigma Force series. Which are great books for December.

Also: I've now read over 40000 pages!

Bianca van Willigenburg (biancavw) | 1752 comments The Demon Crown by James Rollins.
This is my favourite Sigma Force book so far. Partially because one group of characters visit the Wieliczka Mines near Krakow, which my sister and I visited two years ago.

Now I'm in the mood for sci-fi, so I'm going to start the Void Trilogy by Peter F. Hamilton, the sequel series to his Commonwealth duology. It will probably take longer to finish than normal; the busiest weeks of the year start next week and I'll be working more than full time.

Bianca van Willigenburg (biancavw) | 1752 comments Somewhat cranky that I haven't made much headway with my current book. Due to a busy work week and an UTI, which both left me with little energy to read at night.

Tonight I'm taking my last UTI pill and the next three days I don't have to work (though I'm expected to be semi-social), so hopefully I can make some headway with this book.

Good to know! I've a copy I haven't read yet (HB - I'm terrible.)

Ugh. I hope you feel better soon.

Thank you. Luckily the medicine kicked in fairly quick. But it was a bad one and it took two days for the symptoms to completely disappear (normally it's hours).

But it was so busy last week and again this week that I haven't yet managed to finish my book. I have now less than 100 pages to go. So hopefully tonight, though I'm also setting up my new iPod Touch (as a portable music/streaming center). Otherwise I'll finish it tomorrow. I might squeeze in one more book on Sunday, which will have to be a short and easy read.

That's great (that you're feeling better).

I'm so there with you about not being able to finish books - right now i;m barely reading anything but I have a feeling this will stop soon.

Bianca van Willigenburg (biancavw) | 1752 comments The Dreaming Void by Peter F. Hamilton.
I've finished it! It took me almost two weeks, but I did it. It was a good book, but for me a slow read. Combining that with not having much time to read made for a long read.

Now I'm going to start the next Guido Brunetti book. I should be able to finish that on Sunday, even if tomorrow and Saturday I won't have much time to read.

Bianca van Willigenburg (biancavw) | 1752 comments The final book of the year:

Suffer the Little Children by Donna Leon.

I did okay this year. Less books than previous years, but almost spot on when looking at the average pages read. Which means that the books were longer than previous years. And only one abandoned book this year.

Final statistics:
Book read: 107
Pages read: 41644
Average length: 389
Books abandoned: 1
New authors: 26
Rereads: 7

The same to you and everyone else in this group.

HomeInMyShoes | 2759 comments That is a ridiculous number of pages. I dream of averaging 100 pages a day over a year.
