Barbara Barnett | 36 comments Hi. All of a sudden, the Giveaway section of my book's page intermittently disappears. The giveaway still has 3 days to go.

Also (related??) the "to read" listing followed the reviews and ratings section. Now it has disappeared entirely. Help.

Barbara Barnett | 36 comments It's happened again, and the giveaway is over tomorrow. This will really impact the number of entries (and the good it will do)

Jaclyn (jaclyn_w) | 417 comments Hi Barbara. I've had a look and the giveaway is displaying correctly on your book page. If you're not seeing this, it could be due to a browser issue. If it happens again, please can you try the following:

- Clearing your cache.
- Viewing the book page on a different browser.
- If neither of the above help, please send us a screenshot of what you're seeing to support (at) goodreads (dot) com.

Please keep in mind that your giveaway is only viewable to those in the US and Canada, so if you view it from an account not based in those areas, the giveaway will not appear on the book page.

Regarding the missing "to-reads" on the book page, please note that our developers have recently fine-tuned the way reviews, ratings and to-read shelf additions are displayed in order to improve site performance, and simplify the Community Reviews section. This mean that, unless you have fewer than 30 ratings and reviews, you won't see "to-reads" listed individually under the Community Reviews header – just ratings and reviews.

If you'd like to check how many users have marked a book as "to-read" – just click on "Rating Details" near the top of the book page. You can see the total number of "to-reads" at the lower left corner of the pop-up.

Hello Barbara Just submitted a giveaway, waiting for approval.

Was wondering if you or anyone could share how effective they are on Goodreads? What can one expect??

thanks for your feedback.

Jaclyn (jaclyn_w) | 417 comments Giving away copies of books has been a promotion strategy in book publishing for a long time, and the giveaway program is one of our most popular features on Goodreads. The primary goal of running a giveaway is to build awareness for your book. Many people who enter the giveaway also add the book to their want to read shelves, which you can keep track of via your book stats on your Author Dashboard. Each time someone adds the book to their shelves, it generates a story in their updates feed for their friends to see, effectively acting as an ad for your book and raising additional awareness.

I hope that helps - please let me know if you have any further questions!

Thank you Jaclyn that helps give a summation of the goal/result.
