Lord of the Flies question

I'd say yes. It's a pretty fast one, and was a favorite of mine among the high school requirements I encountered. Not absolute best, mind you, up there.

It makes its point well, it's intense, and has some pretty heady, hallucinatory stuff.

Everyone should read this. Not only is it a classic that deserves the term it set the stage for both film and literary portrayal of how thin the veneer of civillisation really is.

I have enjoyed a lot Lord of the Flies - found it such a powerfull book.
I am currently reading Slaughterhouse Five, and so far (just started) still have not really seen anything special about it - I guess it builds up slowly?
Also I may have been influenced by the fact that my last book was Catch-22, also on the same topic (anti-war theme), and found it brilliant, so maybe I'm still having some resistance to the change of speech.

Depends on your tastes. If you like social commentary and dystopian fiction in the vein of Animal Farm , 1984, and Brave New World, go for it. This is an intense book, though. Boys on an island without supervision deteriorate into a graphic representation of human society at its worst.
I enjoyed the book. It made me think.

A better question would be "Did you have to read it", but to answer your question, it depends on if you're interested in reading the book or not. I had to read it in my senior year of high school and I really enjoyed it.

Personally, I didn't get much out of this book at all. It was pretty eclectic and was not easy for me to follow. In saying this, I am not a big reader of classics and usually find them challenging but at least for now, it's not something I liked, I pushed my way through.

I feel this book gets repetitive and boring, I didn't even finish it though I really wanted to, although I know the ending. Although I feel like this book shows human nature and how we will behave if left like that

NO, the theme of the novel (without rules everyone will turn on one another for because our primal instincts are to be savage), although thought provoking and interesting, isn't well showcased because some of the characters don't even face this dilemma. This book is sort of a waste of time to read because the argument on whether humans are all inherently born evil doesn't even apply to all the characters,

I had to read this book for school & hated it entirely... it has been long enough ago that I don't remember many details, just that it was disturbing, brutal & I was so disgusted every time I had to read any of it. Fast forward to this year, my middle school triplets just had to read it for school & they all complained about the content for weeks while reading it. Honestly, I can't imagine WHY schools require students to read this drivel when there are SO many well written, captivating and/or poignant books they could use instead.
This book just fails.

Honestly you'll probably get just as much out of the movie adaptations as the books.

This book was too dark for me...I appreciate the message but those boys were far too serious.

I've never been a big fan of this book. It is a unique perspective, but I prefer Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five, which has a similar theme and moral.

This book definitely comes in layers and gives you lots of things to reflect on. The author presents his thoughts on humanity and the latent evil in all of us in a fast paced very memorable story.
Definitely worth the read.

Yeah - I enjoyed it a lot. No matter what, it's a pretty short and easy read, so you're not gonna lose anything by reading it.

This book was spooky, captivating and hard to digest.

In my case it took me some time to finish it, i mean i stopped one day and i waited for weeks to be in the mood to continue reading it. Honestly, it was not that appealing for me, 'cos it has such a different style and spooky theme, BUT, when i was reading it, i got focused on the story and couldn't drop it.

In my case, it had a huge impact and i'll never forget it, it will stick in my memories forever, but most likely, i'll never read it again.

Even so, i would still recommend it to people.

Yes, it definitaly is. You will have a different p.o.v. after reading it.
