I'm actually surprised that there aren't more novels of this sort... t'would seem like fertile material.
But I'll check this one out, thanks.
It tends to be difficult to find any good historical fiction relating to the native American population so probably not as strange as it seems. But the Gear's are prolific early American history novel writers, so hopefully it's good.
A really good one is AvalonThe part where Vikings or similarly timed people meet up with Native Americans is short, but it's still a fantastic book.
Runestone by Don Coldsmith. I haven't read it, but it's on my physical to read shelf. Found the book in a used book sale about a year ago! It's about the Norsemen arriving in North America and meeting the native tribes, and the clashing of their cultures (roughly what the book blurb says).

I am currently reading everything related to the world of Dune, but as soon as I am done that, I plan on reading this! I'll let you know how it is!
When I saw this post I was excited and ran to my shelves because I couldn't believe I had a book that fit the description:-p Definitely let me know how it is!
James Alexander Thom wrote a book called "The Children of First Man" about a Welsh prince, Madoc, who settled a colony in North America circa 1100. Later than the Vikings, but still the same idea. Thom writes first-class historical fiction.
THE NORSEMAN by Jason Bourne I'd the first book in a series about a Viking who does to North America and never leaves. He ends up living with native Americans for most of his life. He didn't reach North America until the second book though.
Sorry I'm late to this thread. Varun, if you're still interested in this period, there is always, Meadowland: A Novel of the Viking Discovery of America
